Worlds Apart

Jack

I felt a sudden change in Jasamine's movements. I heard her slowly whisper my name and she reached her hand up as if to touch me, but she blacked out again and the arm went limp.

Dammit. I thought. How long was Jasamine going to stay like this? The last time we were both in enough health to talk to each other was back in that weapons room. Instinctively, I looked at my right palm. The brand of a star, one point up, was still visible. As was the upside down star on my left palm. I sighed, picked up the water canteen and slowly gave some to the sorceress. The less energy she drains from Jasamine, the better.

I noticed that Loki came back over to me after talking to that man. "Hey, Loki. What did they man say?"

I walked back to see Jack giving some water to the sorceress. "Well, in between his ranting on about us being foolish and crazy for wanting to go there, he said that there was some great evil deep within the mountain. The local lore is that whomever travels there never returns. Sounds like my kinda place."

Jack

I smiled. At least Loki was his normal self.

"Alright then. It sounds like that's a good bet of where we need to go. I'd be worried if it wasn't a pit of eternal doom." turned back to Jasamine and put the back of my hand against her head. At least she wasn't getting a fever. "Some sleep will do her good." I answered the question Loki never asked, but I knew he was wondering. "Maybe there's an apothocary in town somewhere that can help her."

Loki nodded and turned to watch for the rest of the party to return.

Jasamine

There was a sudden brilliant light and a sound not unlike thunder ... things happened so quickly. My Father was once again there with me and crying over my Mother' body. I got up and went to the doorway, looked out to see the creature taking the baby away. As I watched them go out of view, the baby's eyes opened and I saw them~staring deep into mine~brilliant icy blue.

Instantly I recognised them as the eyes of the one we had been fighting.

Dear God...
The sorceress was my sister.

"JACK!" I managed to scream as she gasped for air next to me.

My eyes wee opened and my breathng was in synch with the sorceress'.
Loki blurted out "What he hell?" and I saw from the corner of my eye and old man dressed in rags. I could have sworn he was the same old man that gave me the invitation to come to this Island what seemed like a million years ago.

Jack

I leapt to my feet in suprise. This was unexpected. Both Jasamine and the sorceress were awake and breathing, and each one's actions seemed to be parrallel to the others.

"Jasamine?" I asked. Her eyes were dancing with fear as she stared at the sorceress. Her eyes were still closed, thankfully, showing she hasn't regained all her strength. Loki drew his warhammer, but I kept my sword in my scabbard. I stepped forward and placed my hand on her shoulder.

"Jasamine?" I asked again. Her eyes slowly moved to mine. Loki's stayed on the sorceress's limp body. I watched Jasamine's chest rise and fall with her long, irratic breaths. "Are you okay?"

Jasamine

"She---she's my sister" I said, looking deep into Jack's eyes so as to not lose myself again.

"Who? What are you talking about? Are you OK?" he replied in a hurried manner, but so gently that I felt a calmness envelop me.

"The sorceress, Jack. I know it now. It is all so clear to me, my father-"

"What the hell?!?!?"
"I'll kill the bitch!" Loki said as he raised his hammer high.

"NO!! Don't let him hurt her, Jack. Please. Our souls are connected. I'll...I think I'll die."

"After all she's done to us? Are you nuts?" Loki shouted, his anger growing.

"She has bee enslaved to a demon for years,
since she was a baby"
I could tell the men were having a hard time grasping the whole concept when I heard a sudden gasp for breath and my sister began to sob, softly at first then almost uncontrollably.

I reached out my hand to hers.

Jack

I watched slack-jawed as Jasamine reached out and took the sorceress's hand. The crying woman almost fell into Jasamine's arms, and she began to softly cry too. The two sisters sat there comforting each other, much to my suprise.

I turned to Loki and I shot him a perplexed look, which he returned with equal confusion. We turned back to the girls. "What the hell?!" We said in almost perfect unison.

"Would one of you please explain just what is going on here?" I asked, getting annoyed. "She tried, and almost succeeded, to kill us less than 5 hours ago, and now you two are acting like you've been best friends! What the fuck did I miss?"

sorian

IC: thru all the event adter us fighting the sorc i had been in a trance, following after everyone lost in my own thoughts. I hadnt noticed until they were crying and holding eachother and then i was to surprised to talk. i went over to mic and sat with her, to comfused tired and thoughtful to do anything else

Jasamine

Too many things were going on in my head. I was spinning confused and elated all at the same time. They were right, it was too strange to be believed. I knew it was premature to trust this woman, but the bond was undeniable. She was the baby I saw pulled away from my mothers arms - my sister.

I also had a feeling there was a way to tie all this together, but for now I felt some strength coming to me. For the first time in a while I felt relieved and a bit revitalized. The rest we could figure out later.

I looked up at Jack, confused as he was, and gave him a smile. Dear God, I had no idea whre I would have been without him and I realized at that moment how much he was a part of me. His eyes joined mine and I had the greatest senstion of well-being with him. I was safe with him, happy with him,
maybe even falling...

Jack

Well, it wasn't the clear answer I had hoped for, but Jasamine's smile was enough to put me at ease. It seemed like ages since I saw that smile. Hell, maybe it had been. All I knew is how glad I was to have her back.

"C'mon. The others are probably waiting for us at the inn." I said, my mood shifting from angry to happy almost instantly. I grabbed Jasamine's hand and helped her up. I put an arm around her waist to help support her. I noticed Loki do the same for the sorceress. She was moving, but hadn't said a word, as if her mind wasn't really with us. I noticed the reluctance in Loki's eyes, but he helped the sorceress along anyway.

"Why not? I already hauled her ass all the way here." He sighed. "But I better not have to carry her up that damn mountain or something's gonna die." The three of us laughed and our spirits brightened considerably. For me, it felt good to finally be a full group again. Despite the awful plot we had been drawn into, I let out the biggest smile in five years.

It looks like things were actually starting to look up for us.

I grumbled to myself as I helped the sorceress walk. After all the crap she put us through, now I was helping her? This adventure was getting more and more twisted as we continued along. "Hey, Jack," I called out as we walked towards the inn, "do you think the sorceress here will be able to answer some questions soon? There are a few things I'm sure we would like to know."

Jasamine

OOC: Is it just Jasamine and the boys here? Yummy! I like this story more all the time. Sure miss the hole crew tho:(

Jack

OOC: I dunno...the 'hole' crew could be fun too... :D

IC:

"We sure do." I agreed with Loki. "Like why we're trapped on this blasted island." As we neared the inn, I could see Sorian and Mic were sitting on the front step. I still didn't know what to think about Sorian; I didn't know what exactly he was at this point. A ghost? A spirit?

"Hey guys." I said. "Do we have rooms?"

"Yeah." Kelly spoke up, coming out with two room keys. "Two rooms of four." She cast a glance over to the sorceress. "Seeing as we'll need an eigth bed. That will seperate men and women easily."

"Do we want to seperate by gender?" I asked. She gave me a funny look. "Y'know, since we'd have all the strong arms in one room. I don't know if you, Mic and Jasamine could stop a sudden attack. Your abilities, like Mic's spell casting, take some preperation to be effective. I think keeping two men and two women to a room might work better."

I looked around to see if anyone else agreed with me.
