Xavier Institute For Higher Learning

Shadowcat

Dammit... Wizard, that's his name. "Wizard, wait!" Kitty shouted at the car. She turned and tapped on the intercom. "Is anyone there?" She said, her voice showing her frustration. Why would Wizard feel like he had to go?

Babette pressed the intercom again, "Veuillez nous aider, nous sont chassés!"

En anglais vous fille folle...

"Help us please, we are being hunted for mutation. This is sanctuary?"

Her first impulse was to hurry the frenchwoman in. Then she remembered the Fantomex fiasco. She spotted a student an flagged her down. "Please, can you run and tell Storm that there is a woman at the door claiming to be in trouble.

Kitty watched as the student ran off. "What is your name? Are you injured?" She said into the intercom.

Shadowcat

"Wizard, whatever happened, whatever you did, I'm sure it can't be so bad that you feel that you have to leave. Just wait, and talk it out, and if you still want to go, i'll drive you home. Just give me a second."

Kitty was starting to get frustrated. She hoped the student would reach Storm soon. She was beginning to think that she should have gone herself, but she wasn't sure how much trouble the woman at the door was in, and she had to keep Wizard here long enough to talk some sense into him.

Psicout

Tony walked down the hallways sipping on a homemade strawberry banana smoothie that one of the other students was making in the kitchen. He slowed down when he saw Wizard near the door with his bag. It looked like he was leaving.

Not wanting to embarrass him Tony pretended not to stare though his glare was obvious. He had heard about what Wizard did to Havok and how he took the Blackbird. He thought it was fuckin' hilarious.

Only it wasn't so funny when he heard rumors that Havok was fuming and demanded Wizard be expelled from the institute.

"That must suck." he thinks. "I don't know what I'd do if I got kicked out of Xavier's. Besides being an X-Man, I don't really have much of a shot at life. Unless I join the army. Or become a hitman. It's good to have something to fall back on."

Fear crept into his heart quickly. He remembers helping to take down Havok when he lost control of his powers in the hangar bay.

Would Havok want him kicked out of the institute too?

Shadowcat's voice woke Tony from his introspection.

"Please, can you run and tell Storm that there is a woman at the door claiming to be in trouble."

"Huh?" He realized that he was being spoken to by one of the X-Men.

"Oh, uh, sure!" Psicout promptly turned and ran down the hall.

"Wow, this is, kinda like a mission. A message that has to get to Storm and if I don't OW!!" Psicout was so lost in thought that he barrelled straight into a group of students.

"Watch where you're going!" he says slowly picking himself up and pretending not to be hurt.

He walks past the front recreation room where a lot of students are gathered. He goes up to the elevator nearest the room and steps in.

He remembers Havok calling the senior X-Men to the Warroom so he figures that's where they must be.

Pressing the button labeled "Sub Basement 2" he watches as the doors close and the first floor disappears. He hears the sound of rushing air and within seconds "DING" and the door opens to the first floor.

Frowning in confusion he steps back into the elevator and tries to reach the floor on which the War Room is located again. He hears the rushing of air and "DING".

Again the doors open to the first floor. Confused he looks in the elevator and activates a communication device.

"Uh Psicout to Storm. Shadowcat says someone is at the door and they may be in trouble. They may need help. And the elevator is broken. I can't get to the floor the War Room is on but that's never happened before. What's happening?"

Wizard kept his gloves on, out of habit. Though Sinister had managed to cure him of Emplate's infection, he could no longer use his powers. Best to find something else to work with.

"Please, we are Babette and Mallory Vassuer. We have been in woods fleeing for many days, Hâte pour l'amour de Dieu!"

If anyone at the mansion was in to pop culture, they might have recognized Babette as something of a household name amongst fans of Trance music, especially in Europe. Otherwise, it was very likely that someone might have seen her mutation on live television a while back.

"Please, we are Babette and Mallory Vassuer. We have been in woods fleeing for many days, Hâte pour l'amour de Dieu!"

Kitty decided she couldn't wait any longer, she couldn't leave them there. "Hello, I'm Katherine Pryde, I'll be waiting at the front door for you." She buzzed them in.

"Wizard, stay there, I'm buzzing someone in, I may need your help."

She knew that he screwed up in Germany, but obviously there was a reason the X men had taken him on the mission. She didn't want to push for answers about Germany from Wizard, she knew that someone would tell her later. She knew it had something to do with Havoc, but whatever it was, couldn't they look at his motives. If we were all kicked out for screwing up, there would be no X men.

Wizard sighed, then looked at his father's driver. He didn't really have time for this, but he already knew Havok would be calling for his dismissal. "That's the last time I try to keep the boss out of trouble."

Kitty walked out the frontdoor towards Wizard. She squinted her eyes in the sun light. It was a beautiful day, but the sunlight seemed to not touch Wizard. Sadness and anger seemed to darken the air around him.

What the hell was his name. She had seen him in the school, and talked to him afew times, why couldn't she remember his name. Justin... James... JOHN!

"John, wait, just talk to me for a minute, what's wrong?"

Psicout

"John, wait, just talk to me for a minute, what's wrong?" Psicout heard Kitty ask.

Impulsively he answered "He tried to kill Havok and blew up half of Germany. And he's got cooties."

Psicout was a little snide toward Wizard. He knew that he was considered one of the top students at Xavier's and that was why he was allowed on the mission.

He hoped that he may rise in the rankings if Wizard weren't around.

Shadowcat

"He tried to kill Havok and blew up half of Germany. And he's got cooties."

Kitty turned "Didn't I send you to get Storm?"

She turned back to Wizard. "It can't be all that bad, I mean, you can cure cooties." Kitty said with a smirk.

"Why did you try to kill Havok?"

Wizard ignored Psicout, and shook his head. "What's wrong is I tried to save the lives of a lot of people, and ended up losing my powers as a result. It was never about the Xmen, it was about me. So now I'm leaving to keep the Xmen safe." It came out sounding angry and spiteful, but he didn't care at this point. Then she asked a question that he hadn't expected.

"I never tried to kill Havok. I kept him out of trouble, and for it I'm getting dismissed."

Shadowcat

"What's wrong is I tried to save the lives of a lot of people, and ended up losing my powers as a result. It was never about the Xmen, it was about me. So now I'm leaving to keep the Xmen safe."

"If it was only about yourself, then why would you try to save those people? I hate to sound corny but isn't that what the X men do, try to help people? Just stay, whatever happens, I can help you. So you won't be able to go on missions anymore until your ready, cause obviously you were not ready to go on this misson. I hate to say it but whoever vouched for you to go on the mission should be punished. I don't think you should be kicked out.

Wizard shook his head again. "There's no reason to stay anyways. I don't have my powers anymore."

Shadowcat

"Whatever happened between you and Havok, just tell them the truth about what happened, and let them decide what will happen to you. I think you owe whoever let you on that mission, for you to back up what you did, not run off like a coward."

He sighed again. "It's out of my hands. Havok's in charge, that's the problem. He doesn't care that I kept him from contracting the same disease Storm and I had to be cured of. He just cares that I sprayed him with knockout gas."

Shadowcat

"Why don't you wait and see, plead your case to Storm. And it doesn't matter that you don't have your powers anymore, you can still be usefull. I heard you're a really good student, why don't you wait. When we get the professor safely home, talk to him about your options."

Kitty didn't know what else to say. She couldn't just let him leave feeling this way.

Wizard sighed, then shook his head again. "There's nothing left for me here. No reason to stay, and thousands of reasons to leave." It was slowly starting to rain.

Shadowcat

Kitty looked up at the sky as it opened up and started raining. The weather had been unpredictable since Storm returned from Germany. She wondered what was going on in the War room.

"John, isn't there anything I can do to change your mind?"

Wizard shook his head slowly. "It's not my mind you need to change. Besides, I can probably do more to help if I'm not at the Institute."

Shadowcat

"What help can you do for yourself outside of the institute? The news knows that you were apart of what happened in Germany, they'll hound you. And people will be frightened of you, what good can you do if things get violent?"

"It's better to stay here till things cool off a bit."

Shadowcat

"Just stay... I know things will work out. If you just sneak off, you'll never know how things could turned out."
