Wizard sighed, then pulled something out of one of his bags, and handed it to her. It was a statue he had been carving in between packing sessions.

Kitty looked down at the statue the Wizard handed to her. "What is this?" She asked. Looking at the small figure in her hand.

"You can have it if you want. It's unfinished. It was supposed to be Rogue."

"You liked her?" Kitty asked. " There is something that you have to understand. She really does belong with Gambit. Even with all their problems, they really do love each other, and belong together."

Wizard shrugged, then put the last of his things in the car, and walked over to the passenger side. "Not my problem anymore."

Kitty was starting to get uncomfortable with where the topic was heading, and how much her emotions were getting involved. She didn't even know him, but she wanted to make things right somehow. "Leave me a number, I'll talk to Storm."

He shook his head again. "I told you already, Storm can't help me, no one can. My only choice is to leave."

Shadowcat

Kitty bite her lower lip to stop herself from saying anything more. What could she say. She had given him so many outs. She felt her anger start to bubble up inside of her. This was so unfair. She turned and looked at Psicout. "There is a man and a woman on their way here. Wait for them, if there is any trouble call for help... don't be a hero. I'll be back in a minute." She took one last look at Wizard and turned back to the door and headed inside. She headed towards the elevator that would lead her to the sub basement then to the War room." Every step she took she felt herself become more angry. Students stepped out of her way. Any that didn't move fast enough, she just phased through them.

Wizard climbed into the car, and sighed. The car was automatic, programmed to take him wherever he commanded it to go. His father certainly knew what to do to make him feel worse.

Shadowcat

Kitty reached the sub basement and headed right for the War room, her temper the main force driving her. In the back of her head she laughed at herself. If she had been Storm there would be a tornado churning up a mess outside right now.
She phased into the War room with out warning. "What the hell did you people do to that kid up there?"

Wizard just sat there, almost unable to make himself leave. This place had been his home for far too long, apparently. He sighed, collapsing against the passenger seat.

::Gambit looked at Kitty as she came through the door of the War Room, her temper had gotten the better of her and she was fuming. He could understand what she was going through because his look was just as angry as hers.::

Noone here did anyt'ing to da kid, Cher. From what I've been told, it all started when da kid used a gas to knock out Havok and stole the Blackbird. As far as everyt'ing else, he suffered da same attack as Storm did, but he was cured as well.

::He walked over to her and offered one of his debonair smiles, no matter how forced it was.::

If you'll excuse us for a few minutes, we are almost done here.

(sorry for the delay)

I watched everyone bicker back and forth, some in my favor and some just to stand on the other side.

Taking a deep breath I interupted. "I did what I felt needed to be done. If the photage of my defending myself offends your sensabilities so, Havok, perhaps you need to re-evaluate why you're here.
"Were my actions wrong? Possibly. But at the time, I didn't see any other real alternative. I acted as I felt I had to," I finished, tossing my hair back. "I am not a team leader and the reasons for that are between the Professor and myself, not anyone else."

Standing, I stretched. "I'll be leaving the institue for a bit and staying at the Summer's cabing with Gambit."

Leaning in close to Havok I went on. "But not because your 'ordered' me to do so, Havok. I'm doing it because I believe in Gambit and that he'd never hurt me. You, well, I can see why he'd give into the temptation. But I know he loves me and for better or for worse, I love him too. Fate can't always be fought."

I sank back into my seat, legs crossed, waiting for his reply.

Kitty glared. "Well who was stupid enough to let that kid go on a mission? Obviously he wasn't prepared" Kitty snapped at Gambit. "He's gone, he packed his bags and he left!"

Wizard sat in the car for a moment, then got out, and stepped up to a statue outside the door, carrying the box with the sword in it. He slowly took it out of the box, and ran it through the statue, before writing a note and tying it to the end of the sword. The note read simply: I'll Be Back For This.

Kitty glared. "Well who was stupid enough to let that kid go on a mission? Obviously he wasn't prepared" Kitty snapped at Gambit. "He's gone, he packed his bags and he left!"

I raised an eyebrow at Kitty. "It is his choice if he wishes to leave Kitty, as is it is yours or mine to do the same. However, calling someone stupid for believing a fully trained person is ready for what should have been a routine field assignment is quite rude."

I stood, green eyes flashing though my words were soft, almost gentle. "I understand that you're upset over him leaving, but if Wizard has something to work out, no one should stop him.
"As for what the hell we did to him- we took him on a mission. He wanted to go. He could have said no, I'm not going."

Anger started to trickle into my voice now. "There is no way we could have planned on Deadhand betraying us or Cable showing up or the zombies or anything else that happened. None of our missions are without danger. Nothing in this life is without risk, Kitty. I didn't plan on this mission being dangerous. I was as shocked as everyone else to be attacked by mindless zombies, to have Fantomex and that pink-bitch flashing around. To have any of this happen."

Kitty phased through Gambit to look Rogue square in the face and snarled. "So your little scapegoat is Wizard? And when you take a newbie on a mission, you are responsible for his actions, you can't just dump all the responsibility on him, and then make him feel like he has no choice but to leave. So he's not cut out for missions, that's no reason to toss him to the wolves."

Kitty, Rogue and Storm are not saying we should throw da kid out, Havok is. My feeling is dat he will need dealing with but dat is for Storm to say as she is in charge of the mansion now.

::He had tried to remain civil throughout this whole situation, but it was all going downhill fast and he didn't want to have any more of the nonsence. He walked over to Rogue and held out his hand to her.::

Let's go, P'tite. I t'ink it would be best if we leave Storm and Havok to figure da rest of dis out on their own and get you moved into da cabin with me for now. We've alot to talk about on our own let alone to be involved with dese t'ings.

::In truth he ws just trying to run interferance so that things wouldn't errupt. Havok and him had almost come to blows and Kitty and Rogue were getting heated up as well.::

"Uh Psicout to Storm. Shadowcat says someone is at the door and they may be in trouble. They may need help. And the elevator is broken. I can't get to the floor the War Room is on but that's never happened before. What's happening?"

Storm rolled her eyes and said,

"We should probably wrap this meeting up before anything else goes wrong."

She listened to what Rogue had to say and smiled. She figured that Rogue and Gambit would like some time alone which was why she suggested a week off.

Then Kitty phased into the War room in full fury. That's just what we need right now, Storm thought, another hot headed individual with something to say.

"Kitty you don't know everything that is going on. I think that we are going to have to end this meeting before anything else comes up. We have enough to deal with right now. Gambit, I will need to talk to you later. Rogue, have fun at the cabin, but can you contact me in a week. Havok, if you have anything else on your mind, please come talk to be after I deal with who is at the door. Kitty please come with me."

Storm was feeling overwhelmed so walked out the door before anyone could answer.

"And you shouldn't use boy's crush on you to get him to do what you want" She shouted at Rogue as she slamed the small statue on the table and turned around.

She thought she had better get out of there before... pardon the pun... she started a "catfight" with Rogue.

I looked over to Gambit with a nod. "I'll be with you in a moment, sugah."
Turning back to Kitty, "First of all, you need to back up, Shadowcat," I said, eyes narrowing as I stood my ground.

"Secondly- I am not blaming him. Wizard was my responsiblity and we got seperated while on the mission, he got infected, so on and so forth. It was a messy mission but I don't blame him for being broken up over it. All his reviews said he was ready for field work. He said he was ready. Who am I to argue over that with the instructors and such here?"

"And I'm not tossing him out to the wolves, Shadowcat," I advised her with a smile dripping insincerity. "He needs time to recollect himself- and he apparently can't do that here with people like you and Havok on his case."

Her claim of me using his crush on me startled me and it showed. "Why in the hell do you think I'd do that? Yeah, the kid has a thing for me but its not like I can act on it. Hell, I'm amazed Gambit keeps coming back to me with all my issues!"

I paused and listened to Storm, giving her a real smile. "Thanks, Stormy, I'll give you a call in a week."

Being more adault then I wanted to be, I turned away from Shadowcat and held my hand out to Gambit. "You ready to go, sugah?"

::Gambit looked at the statuette that Kitty slammed on the table and then picked it up looking it over.::

Dat's a good likeness, P'tite. Seems mabye the kid had his mind other places den on da mission?

::He tossed the statuette to Rogue and then walked towards the door.::

I'm ready whenever you are. You are going to love da cabin. So nice and quite.

::He looked at Storm as she walked away with Kitty, then yelled after her.::

I come look for you soon, Stormy. I can answer your questions den.

Nori had been watching what was going on with Kitty and Wizard when Psicout ran up. Everyone had heard one story or another about what had happened in Germany and the part that Wizard had played.

She heard Psicout yell out,
"He tried to kill Havok and blew up half of Germany. And he's got cooties."

Nori stepped up and punched him in the arm.
"Don't be such a twit."

Tai Renmak walked slowly up to the mansion with the young woman who had saved his life. Her name was Chihiro Krynn, and she was a brilliant specialist in robotics and computer programming. Tai sometimes felt like her guinea pig. After all, it had been an accident that he had fallen into the hibernation case containing her pet project, a combat android designed to fight creatures that seemed more like ghosts. His merger with the android had left him with great strength, an armored body, and the ability to manifest the weapon systems of the android. He often wondered if the beautiful woman would have noticed him if he hadn't BECOME her pet project. And now here he was, following her suggestion and seeking refuge from the corporation that had contracted her to create the android at the Xavier Institute. He was lost in thought when he noticed a kid sliding a sword into one of the statues, and leaving a note on it. He raised an eyebrow, then watched as Chihiro walked up to the door and rang the doorbell. They had bypassed the gate by jumping the wall, and Tai was starting to think this was a bad idea.

Kitty wanted to tear her face off. She had afew choice words about her. "Yeah, the kid has a thing for me but its not like I can act on it. Hell, I'm amazed Gambit keeps coming back to me with all my issues!"

But she thought she'd better keep her mouth shut. She had also totally forgot that she had left Psicout, of all people, at the door to meet with the couple that were on their way.

Kitty would have tripped Rogue when she went past her but knew that it would probaly hurt herself more than Rogue. So she just glared.
