I met my dream girl so I don't need a list of qualities. She was everything I ever wanted and more. I loved her with everything I am, but sadly that wasn't enough. For awhile there I believed I would find such again, as I get older (and I'm still relatively young) I believe that less and less.

I grew up thinking the worst thing that could happen in life was to never find love. Experience has taught me that the worst thing is to find love but for that love to not be returned in kind.

For me, I never really grew up thinking so highly of love. It's one of the things I worry about or maybe something I shouldn't worry about at all. All I do know for now from just reading your post, it would definitely suck(for me & loads of others ) if you were going to close yourself of from love. You sound like you really do and can love(I envy that).

I really can't imagine what you must be feeling. Since we're mostly all kind of in this journey(finding love or...hm???) together, I hope you'll experience *something* which will make you smile back at the experience of unrequited love.

I haven't closed myself off to love. I date frequently. I just don't think I'll find it again. Its either I'm not interested or they aren't.

Now, I've had that feeling. There's this girl I've been liking for 2 years now. I also feel like I know her faults but find them adorable. Though I'm taking the path of not dating until I feel I won't be comparing everyone I do date to her, b/c I also feel like it's not fair to others. If I do date, I'd let the person know it's casual for now and that I do still have someone I like very much. That's the route I'm going though.

I have felt strong attractions post this girl, but it never goes anywhere. its only the ones I'm not inerested in that want it to go somewhere.

I agree. Claiming to be a hopeless romantic and then saying you don't believe you'll find love is a NO-NO as a romantic. You will have to drop out of our club. A person who takes the time to know someone and know their faults & still love them...will find love. I will not be told otherwise.
