One month ago yesterday, on the early afternoon of May 17, in and outside the Twin Peaks restaurant in Waco, Texas, a bevy of marauding motorcycle gangs who had gathered to create some sort of criminal trouble (the cops had already warned the restaurant to not let them meet there) began a wild melee of shooting at each other and at police. Nine people would eventually lose their lives, and 18 others were wounded.

First of all, the gathering was not just some premeditated bloody biker party with no legitimate intent. It was a meeting of a group called the Confederation of Clubs and Independents, a multi-biker-club confab dedicated to political chatter of interest to bikers. As Clay Conrad, a Houston lawyer whose firm is representing one arrested couple, William and Morgan English, pointed out in an interview, the gathering "was not a one-off, this was a frequent occurrence. These meetings would happen every couple of months [around Texas], and there has never been significant violence before. I believe at worse this would have been one murder if the police hadn't gone in and started shooting everyone in sight."

A police officer in Whitehall, Ohio, accidentally shot and wounded a 4-year-old girl Friday while attempting to shoot her family's dog instead.

Columbus, Ohio, police Officer Jonathan Thomas was investigating a hit-and-run in Whitehall on Friday when a woman came up to him asking for help, according to The Columbus Dispatch.

The woman told Thomas that her sister -- later identified as Andrea Ellis -- had cut herself and needed medical attention.

When Thomas arrived at the doorway of the residence, one of the family dogs ran at him, according to Columbus police spokeswoman Denise Alex-Bouzounis. Thomas pulled out his gun and fired, inadvertently hitting the young girl in the leg. The 4-year-old, who is reportedly Ellis' daughter, is in stable condition and expected to make a full recovery.

A Colorado police officer pleaded guilty to attempted third degree assault after he was recorded on body camera video repeatedly beating a hancuffed man.

Video of the December incident obtained by KMGH shows Federal Heights Officer Mark Magness appearing to punch and kick a suspect while pulling him from a patrol car at the police station. A minute later, Magness slams the man into a concrete wall.

Video later shows Magness flying into a rage after the man lunges at him inside a holding cell. Another officer reminds Magness that he is being recorded by body cam video, but Magness continues to beat the suspect.

“I’m sorry sir,” the bloody man says as he is thrown into a chair. Magness ignores him, pressing his fingers into his eyes and temples.

Although the man appears to be pinned into the chair, Magness accuses him of resisting and straps him down.

I note the victim and the previous victim are both white, so we won't hear much about this from Obama or the AG or any other official who is not directly involved with the police.

Honestly as bizarre as that sounds it's not actually uncommon. There are tons and tons of places in California where if they can figure out who did it you can get major fines for knocking down rocks. You can't take anything out, including rocks and all hell will break loose if you try to take a rat or lizard. There are entire sections of some Marine Bases that you aren't allowed to walk because they have some kind of. . .I forget the technical term but basically sea monkeys and they don't want you destroying their habitat nor moving them to new locations. It has to do with preserving natural habitats and if you let one guy do it you can't really bitch when the kids wander up and start spray painting the rocks.

Knocking down rocks is different than this guy. Wasn't there a Boy Scout master who got in trouble for knocking down a rock...a natural protected formation awhile back.

This guy is harmless...he balances rocks which would be cool to stumble upon. Wind and rain and it's gone and back to nature, no harm no foul.

I get the slippery slope thing, but it sort of sounded like this was a tradition of sorts...admit to not following that up.

Geez.....I'm pretty sure if the victims in either case HAD DIED we'd all be hearing a lot more about these cases. I'm not surprised that white folks getting beat by the police is actually makes the news. How many cases of black folks getting beat makes the news?

I'm still waiting for you to name one of the hundreds of white people killed by cops. You probably can't do it, because there is never, or almost never, any kind of stink raised over it, whereas black people being killed by cops make headlines and rate comments from the POTUS and other high-ranking federal officials.

Minnesota sheriff’s deputy caught on video slamming, hitting K-9 partner

sheriff’s deputy in Ramsay County, Minnesota was charged with animal cruelty and assault against a public safety dog after being caught slamming his K-9 partner to the ground, then striking the animal inside a casino, WCCO-TV reported.

Officials in Carlton County arrested 48-year-old Brett Arthur Berry on June 15, after security cameras at the Black Bear Casino captured the attacks earlier this month. Berry was attending a certification course in the area at the time of the incident.

“It’s something that is certainly unusual,” Carlton County Attorney Thomas Pertler told the Duluth News Tribune. “I haven’t heard of another case like it.”

Ronald Warnell spotted two Orange officers on his property after they stopped a bicyclist for a reflector violation Feb. 2, reported KMBT-TV.

The homeowner, a black man in his 60s, asked officers why they were on his property, and he said Officer Dylan Mulhollan grew agitated right away.

“I don’t know what was his problem, he definitely was irate, having a bad day or something,” said Warnell.

Video from Mulhollan’s body camera shows the officer order Warnell to back up, and the homeowner reminds him that police were on his property.

“No, no — it’s my property right now,” Mulhollan says.

Warnell objects, telling the officer it was not his property.

“You need to get your laws straight, brother,” Warnell says.

NYPD union boss: Eric Garner settlement ‘obscene’ because cops barely ‘responsible’ for his death

In the statement — published as a column in the New York tabloid — President of the Sergeants Benevolent Association Ed Mullins, wondered “where is the justice for New York taxpayers?’ who were forced to pay out the money to Garner’s family after he died at the hands of police, in what a New York City medical examiner ruled a “homicide.”

“In our civil courts, which are charged with the important responsibility of assessing liability and imposing damages in these types of cases, families are only awarded damages based on calculable, provable facts, such as indisputable misconduct, past earnings and conscious pain and suffering,” Mullins wrote.

If the cop hadn't choked him he might have lived to be prosecuted. I'd say that the police own the NY taxpayers a whole lot of money for the damages assessed to all of the victims over the last 10 or so years.

If the cop hadn't choked him he might have lived to be prosecuted. I'd say that the police own the NY taxpayers a whole lot of money for the damages assessed to all of the victims over the last 10 or so years.

And, if he hadn't resisted arrest, there would have been no problem. I do believe there was excess force used in this specific case, but I also consider the award to be much too high.

The family of Mike Brown is trying to sue the city of Ferguson. They shouldn't get one penny and, if anything, they should owe something for the damage done by their thuggish son.
