Day 4
Muse - Knights Of Cydonia

This isn't the performance I saw but it's from the same tour.
They always finish with this one and it's such a great way to end the show.
I often feel like Muse work best live. They have such amazing effects and have made a dystopian narrative that plays on the screens between the songs. Definitely worth going to.

Day 4: A song from the most recent concert you went to

Giant Sand played as part of Fire Records 40th in London, they also joined with the Dream Syndicate to play as the Giant Syndicate, including Kristen Hirsh. It was pretty ramshackle, whilst also great, as only Howe Gelb can be.

Day 4: A song from the most recent concert you went to
Back in January I took my wife to see Adam Pascal and Anthony Rapp sing at a small cabaret-type club in Manhattan. We had a table right up against the stage. She's a HUGE Rent fan and was in tears most of the night. They sang a lot of 90's covers of songs that were important to them during that period. And, of course, there were a fair number of Rent songs as well. This is the one that had my wife shaking.

Adam Pascal - "One Song Glory"

*this video is from that series of concerts, but we didn't take it. It was very close to where we were sitting, though.

Day 4: A song from the most recent concert you went to

Can’t even remember the last one, probably when I was in my teens. I’m fine with singing on a stage but I don’t do well being jammed in with crowds of people. On a positive note, I’ll probably never be shot to death in a mass killing. Sorry for being a downer but I like to keep my perfect attendance intact. 🫢

Day 4: A song from the most recent concert you went to

A local string ensemble on a stage lighted only by hundreds of flickering candles. They were performing a number of "season" themed pieces, including all of Max Richter's Recomposed Vivaldi's "Spring." I couldn't find them, but I always loved Spring 3.

"Spring 3," Max Richter

One of the best contemporary composers in the world, I have performed many of his works, but having the chance to see Eric Whitacre conduct the Cleveland Symphony Orchestra Chorus in this heartbreaking work, "The Sacred Veil," is a moment I will remember for the rest of my life.

Day 4: A song from the most recent concert you went to

It's been a hot minute since I've had the chance to see music live. The last concert was Pink Martini over a year ago and China Forbes sang this with the crowd. Loved it. Always will.

This was Pink Martini's first single, and was nominated as "Song of the Year" at the "Victoires de la Musique Awards" in France. The album is certified Platinum in France and Greece, and Gold in Canada, Switzerland, and Turkey. Pretty cool for an American band 😹

Day 4

Fall Out Boy "Sugar We're Goin Down"

I was excited to post some Iron Maiden again, but I remembered they weren't the last concert I went to. Last concert I bought tickets to, yes, but not last cover attended.

The company my wife worked for last year recently got bought out, but they were known for secret concerts to commemorate but milestones.

The idea was no one was supposed to know who the artists were before they went on stage, but the buffet the company got, the harder it was to contain the secret as some people are insanely good at figuring shit out.

The first one we went to was Macklemore and Weezer. This was about a year before he blew up so not many people knew who he was.

Second one, I didn't go to, but that was Counting Crows and Cheryl Crow. Counting Crows were apparently embarrassingly stoned when they took the stage.

Third concert was One Republic and Flo Rida. The latter, I only knew from music played at the gym.

Second to last concert was The Killers and Gwen Stefani. I watched The Killers and went to hang out with a like minded friend who also couldn't stand her when Gwen came on.

The final concert they put on was Fall Out Boy and Katy Perry. It took me 5 songs to recognize who Fall Out Boy was. I didn't really care.

Most of my wife's co-workers aren't rockers so I figured the artists were not going to be anywhere near my speed, but it was usually a chance to horrify some stuffy scientists with my out of pocket humor while drinking free cocktails.

Day 4: A song from the most recent concert you went to

I saw Noah Kahan last night. It was incredible. There’s nothing quite like seeing one of your favorite artists live. Collective effervescence.

I was going to say more, but I’m tired.
At 2:50 there’s a banjo solo and then a fiddle solo after that. The crowd went nuts for the fiddle solo.

Day 4: A song from the most recent concert you went to

The most recent concert I went to was Xandria as opening act and Wind Rose as main act. Since I already posted a song from Wind Rose at the time of that concert, I decided to go with a song from Xandria for today's theme.

This isn't their best song but it is just recently released and they sang it at the concert I was at. So the lineup appearing in the video is the same as what I saw.

Xandria - Universal
