Day 31; Spooky shit?

I feel almost offended that @morelikeasong pointed out I touched her heart when anyone who knows me would clearly know I was totally going for her boobs and just missed. Wocka wocka!

*sigh* fine. I'll be serious. Just remember, she asked.

So, I've been haunting (and I use that term consciously) Lit since the day after my late wife died. I mean, I was around before that, obviously if you check my add date. But, I was all about the writing of my smut and trying to sling it side-handed past Laurel. Mostly the Author's Hangout trying to figure out how to get past her with a lot less talent than those others, a little bit of mansplaining in the How-To, and occassionally playing librarian in the it-should-really-be-easier-to-find Looking for a Story.

Any road, in the interests of keeping things from getting too out of hand, I stumbled across this thread when I woke up the day after @morelikeasong posted it. Looking back, I'm the 9th post in, which doesn't seem right for some reason. Maybe some of the people who posted before me deleted them for some reason, or maybe my slow, old, ailing ass was just quicker to recognize awesomeness. I don't know.

The thing is,... okay, fine. Due to some health issues kicking me to the library during recess, I was a pretty advanced reader from early on. Supposedly collegiate by age eight if you believe standardized tests. And I do love to read. But, back before I ever held a book and figured out those funky squiggles were words, my genius mother figured out that if she would put on a radio in my room, even if I didn't fall asleep, I wouldn't be so quick to explore the sounds coming from elsewhere. Such as the vacuum, or dishwasher, or television. And I might actually stay put! And when I did start learning to read, it was at her elbow out of a song book.

Sadly, after a lot of money wasted on singing lessons, piano lessons, guitar lessons, and trumpet lessons, I eventually figured out I just didn't have a whole lot of aptitude for creating it. Fortunately, that didn't curtail my enjoyment of it one bit.

(Ok, you old gasbag, cut some paragraphs. Ok, now cut some pages...)

So, what was I saying? Oh, right.

I was virtually housebound before Covid made it cool. And with my wife and, gradually over time, all the remaining pets she left for me to look after, gone, I would get lonely. Posting music that I enjoyed was kind of a way past that, a little bit. Listening to music someone else posted, even better. Maybe something I knew, but had forgotten about in my hazy, fading memories. Maybe something new to me, that I'd never heard.

Oh, ho. But, then... I'm not gonna front out anyone specific here (although we probably all know who you are) some of these sexy audiophiles would put in actual stories with their ( she said one, damn it!) musical selection for the day!

Mere words escape me to try to explain just how fucking cool that has been! In the vaults of my mind, kicking back around the stereo speakers with you as the song you selected plays while I read your words and imagine you saying them to me over the background of the music that brought us together, even if only for a slice of time. Or maybe cruising down the road the t-tops off, the music cranked, singing (or in some cases, screaming) along.

And, yesh. What song do I toss in for this prompt? I admit, my sense of humor threatened to run away with me (and me with some people's underpants). But, really, upon mature reflection, and keeping in mind my second paragraph promise to be serious (for a couple of minutes), there is only one that truly captures my feeling for this thread, our hostess with the mostest, and all you amazing audiophiles.

Well, I can't say I've been here since day one, but I've been here since day two and it's been a really fun ride.
You are one of the OGest of OGs. And you have such a lovely presence here. I love that you share music even when it’s out of the norm of what gets posted here, and I notice you reacting to some of the posts that don’t get as much love. Thank you for everything you contribute!
But it isn't just her, it is all of us.
You said a lot of true things, but this is may be the truest. This thread is run by me, but it belongs to all of us! Each person who contributes is important, yourself included.
Thank you for everything of yourself that you have shared with us. You’ve set a really beautiful example of vulnerability.
Plus, you share some great music. I’m glad you’re here and thank you for always being so supportive. It means a lot. Keep being you.
If you pay close enough attention, you can learn a lot about each and every person who plays daily.
This is so true! I love being taken by surprise by something someone posts and learning a little more about them. I’m so glad you found the thread. You’ve been a great addition this month!
I try and post songs i love, that mean something.
This is the way.
I’m happy to have you here and look forward to your shares. You and I have a lot of overlap in our tastes and I’ve found quite a few songs through your posts. Thank you for being one of the steady daily posters!

Day 31: You can dedicate a song to someone on the thread, post a song that relates to this thread, or post a song that reminds you of the lit community (Would also love if you’d share a little about when and how you found this thread and what’s kept you here!)

As a proud 1st pager of this thread and the current record holder for most spankings received, I'm proud to make my return on such a momentous occasion.

Here is a little voice message about the anniversary:

Now for the music. I dedicate this song to our hostess. I know this is her favorite band and she grew my appreciation for them:

A song that relates to this thread:

And finally a song about the lit community which is a song I've posted before and likely will again:

Seemed appropriate for me to post multiple songs for this celebration. 🤭

I welcome my spanking.

So glad to have found this thread, as well. It’s helped me share songs I love, retrieve songs from my past, and discover new songs that I may never have found otherwise.

My post today may be one that I discovered here, perhaps from you. It’s on one of my playlists and I have no other recollection of how I added it there.

Thanks again for all you do,

Right? There are a whole host of places we can post as many songs as we want, totally unprompted and with absolutely no (noticeable) affiliation.

:devilish:

@morelikeasong sorry for adding to your inevitable tag fest
Where’s your story bragging about how you’ve been here since the start and then detailing how much you love me?! My inbox is open if you’re feeling shy 😜

Thanks for posting that song that led me to PM you and being my friend ever since. And for exposing me to more Prince than I ever wanted or needed.

Mere words escape me to try to explain just how fucking cool that has been! In the vaults of my mind, kicking back around the stereo speakers with you as the song you selected plays while I read your words and imagine you saying them to me over the background of the music that brought us together, even if only for a slice of time. I love this so much. What a feeling that is, sharing music with friends. Letting it wash over us. I love your description of how this thread helps you to feel that again. And your song is spot on.
Thank you for all you’ve contributed to the thread over the last year and for sharing your story with us. You are a special part of this community.

Now, enough of the mushy gushy… you may touch my boobs for 5 seconds to reset. Don’t miss this time 😉

Day 31: You can dedicate a song to someone on the thread, post a song that relates to this thread, or post a song that reminds you of the lit community

Following this thread from the beginning. Again, I thank @morelikeasong for having the idea and hosting it, as I did when it started out. Surely, I have enjoyed the contributions. Some were brilliant, some funny, some stunning, some revealing, some eye opening, some providing audio orgasm, some introducing me to great music I have never heard before.

Thanks everyone for your posts. Appreciated!

A song for the Lit community.

Facebook by Passenger

I think the general sentiment of the song applies well to all of us at some point or another.

This is such a good thread, MLAS. I’ve found a new song or two that’s made it into my rotation from this thread. Music means a lot and it’s wonderful to see people so many people passionate about their favourite songs (even if they suck sometimes).

Here is a little voice message about the anniversary:
I’m not gonna lie… this made me a little 🥹. Thank you for your kind words and for always having my back for the past year; you’ve been a really wonderful friend.

And you have been such an integral part of this thread! You aren’t always around but, when you are, you are the most dedicated participant. I can’t say how many times I’ve urged you to just come in and post your song, but you insist on listening to everyone’s choices. And then you spend another hour picking your song. And, I’ve gotta say… there’s an 90% chance it’s a really great one. (And a 10% chance it’s the Killers 🙄). I have a newfound love and appreciation for Elvis Costello because of you.

Your very first message to me was apologizing for monopolizing my thread and asking if it was okay. A few weeks later, I was implementing the one song rule 🤣
I welcome my spanking
One year later and you haven’t changed a bit, but your flattery did soften me up. Not enough to not avoid your punishment…

Okay, stop enjoying it so much 😜

Wowwww I let you touch my boobs for 5 seconds and you betray me like this?! 😝
Following this thread from the beginning. Again, I thank @morelikeasong for having the idea and hosting it, as I did when it started out.
It’s been so great having you!! I know your music tastes are a little different than the majority of what is posted here but I love that you keep sharing what you’re into and adding to the diversity of the thread. Would be boring if we all listened to the same things!
This is such a good thread, MLAS. I’ve found a new song or two that’s made it into my rotation from this thread.
And they were both from me, right? I know, I have impeccable taste. Thanks for popping your head in sometimes. Good to see you here!

This is a fun thread. I wish I had time to surf thru and listen to every single song.

Thank you @morelikeasong for putting this together and maintaining it. It must be a lot of work. But if ya do what ya love, it ain’t work.

Thank you so much, for giving me new stuff to listen to, old stuff to appreciate. Our musical tastes are as different as we are.

I found this thread thru Miss Lick who I don’t think is around here anymore.

Day 1: A song that mentions candy or sugar

This is a deep mod cut from 1965. I have two versions of this 45, one that is much slicker and better produced, and this raw ass motherfuckin version. It sounds live to me.

I could just imagine a bunch of mods going fucking apeshit listening to this shit.
