2009 News & Views: Discussions and Announcements for the Survivorphile

Yep, but the immunity naturally won't do them any good until *all* of their categories are at that level. You can't proceed past a cap level until you have filled that level in all categories.

If you chose category cap 10 for a category in January, could you later fill in cap levels 1 thru 9 with immunitities in subsequent months?

Yes, however... doing it that way isn't really going to do you a lot of good. You still must have cap level one filled in all categories before cap level two points count, and cap level two must be filled in all categories before cap level three points count, and so on and so forth. Plus, you can't count on winning a certain number of immunities.

contest bonus stories

I want to enter a story in the Valentine's Contest and I want to use it to get the 5 bonus points as a contest story. Does it make a difference which category I submit the story, so long as when I post it to my scorecard I post it not to the category that it was submitted but to the bonus part of the scorecard? Am I correct in handling this?

good question! me too.

If you enter a story in the Valentine's contest and want to use it for the 5-point bonus, it does not matter which category it is posted in. As long as the story is accepted by Literotica as an entry to Valentine's contest, you should register it in your scorecard under the Special Contests Bonuses heading, and not under whichever category the story is posted in.

Okay, I want to make sure that the story I want to do is okay. I'd like to do another celebrity story on Ghost Hunters. I did one last year-- um, GhostHunters: The Old Brothel, or something like that. Anyway, it would obviously have the same characters but, it's not chapters since each story would be about a separate investigation. So, am I understanding that this would be fine?

ETA:
None of the events of one story would be relevant to the other stories...

Thank you.

Can you use more than one immunity in any one cap category.

Let's say I won 3 immunities and wanted to use them all in Illustrated cap1? Can I do that so I could get to the next level since I can't draw worth a crap?

You only need one immunity per cap level. The first immunity closes down that level for any other immunities or submissions.

Question: Lets say that I write two stories for the V Day contest. One story qualifies for the Contest bonus (not applied to a specific catagory). Can I apply the second one to the appropriate catagory (i.e. anal)?

Yes, you can.

In order for a story/poem/essay to count, must it have the public comments and voting options enabled?

Voting is mandatory for the monthly contests...

And voting is also required to be turned on continuously to be eligible for the "special" contests (i.e. Valentine's, Earth Day, etc.) for that particular story. (You can still enter, you just won't be eligible to "win" if you turn off voting.)

But Jen's correct. None of it is mandatory for Survivor. Feel free to turn it all off if you want! ;)

Except as has been pointed out, for the Special contests. Those Survivor stories must have at least voting enabled since they won't be accepted for the Special contest without it (I don't think). And they have to be in the contest to be counted for the Special contest category and bonus. ;)

You can turn off the voting after you submit and have been accepted, though. Which means, you'll be listed on the contest page, and your story would be eligible as a Survivor special contest submission, but once voting is turned off, you're no longer eligible to win the special contest itself.

I will be doing ScoreBoard updates on Wednesdays, so if you wish to have your updated score included on the board, please PM me by 3pm Eastern Standard Time on Wednesdays. I will update it sometime shortly afterward.

Do we need to PM every Wednesday, or can we let you know in one PM that we'd like to be included on every update?

Every Wednesday would be best... at least for the moment. Easier to keep up with it that way. When things settle down for me a bit, then I'll make a file of who always wants to be updated. I'll let y'all know when I get to that point. Until then, just drop me a pm each week if you wish to be included.

Scoreboard will be updated tomorrow (electric & cable company willing). Electricity has been off and on all day and internet was down for over 24 hours. Too tired to update tonight. Will do so tomorrow.

Sorry that you have been having problems, Crimson Maiden. Whenever you get to it is fine, we just all appreciate everything you do for the contest and the site.

Crim, hope they got your electricity straightened out, and that you'll have good weather for a while!
