A question for those who shave/wax

i work as a costume designer, with many clients beings exotic dancers the advice i hear given to the new dancers is......... shave daily, to get the skin use to it........and to use deoderant over the shaved area , use a good razor of course.........seems to do the trick!

This works for me. I shave every day with a Venus razor. No problems at all. :p

As a guy...

my method is like this: shower, lotion on the genitals and above, shave face, then shave pubic area. I find the lotion helps with razor burn, but maybe it's the fact that I've been doing this for my wife for a few years now.
Also, I've found if I let it grow back a bit, the bumps stay away, and the contrast feels smoother.

I use several of the tips combined here to shave, plus a few extras.

I wash the area with cetaphil cleanser and leave it sit for 5-10 minutes.

I fill the sink with hot water and throw my brand new razor in it. I use a Man's razor - a Mach3. I only use the blade 2 times for that area, before getting rid of it. Yes, I spend a fortune on blades, but I switch it to legs after those two times (I have two razors)

Wipe off cetaphil cleanser with warm washcloth and leave the cloth there - best to sit and hang out for another minute or two.

I then swab Tea Tree Oil all over the area to be shaved. It's anti-bacterial - it reduces red bumps and it also numbs everything, in case you accidently cut yourself.

I use Aveeno shaving cream and shave in the direction of the hair growth, pulling taunt.

After that is completed, once again, warm wash cloth to wipe down and get rid of any shaving cream.

Swab area again with Tea Tree Oil.

Spray down with deodorant.

Later, I will use either Vaseline or Cetaphil Cream (must be the stuff in the tub) all over the area to keep it nice and smooth, longer.

It's a process, but well worth it. Plus I don't have the red bump problem anymore.

What really helped me was using a shaving product called Coochie. ( I kid you not thats what its call ) I shave every three days with a mans 5 blade razor for that area, only use the blade twice. After I use the spray on lotion by the same name. I have to get these products at an adult store.

I've seen that Coochie stuff on line, but I can't remember where, LOL!

Me, I learned long ago to keep the shaving to the top of the labia on back and go with close trimming for the top of my genitals. My skin is uber sensitive and while I've tried several of the suggestions in this thread, my skin just can't take that much shaving or cream or gel, LOLOL! So, I use a beard trimmer to keep the hair trimmed close to my body and neat and only shave the labia majora and minora, since for what ever reason, that skin can handle it and I don't break out or get a rash or chafe. I use a Mach 3, too, LOL, and Aveeno shaving gel, I think it is. Smoothe as silk for a week minimum and no shave burn.

i got laser hair removal. a lot less painful than waxing and cost effective over time.
Less painful than waxing, you say? Hmm, maybe I will try it after all. I went for a consultation and I'm a great candidate (fair skin, dark hair) but I didn't have the money at the time. I have more money now but I've been convinced that it hurts! It was okay even on your genitals?

It depends on what you're having done, of course; I think for everything I wanted done it was going to be about $2500? For just the genitals it was probably...between $500 and $800 as I recall.

I shave every once in a while, but very rarely because I absolutely hate the ruff stubble that pops up by the next day. While I shower every day, I can not shave that area every day, it gets red, swollen, itchy, and burns. Does waxing help with this?

Any suggestions? I see all these pictures of cleanly shaven men and women and they look so soft, never irritated or anything...I'm jealous.

I personally cannot shave that area as I seem to cut & slice a bit too much...
I do enjoy a bald twat tho & have got my own way of doing it.
takes about a 1/2 hour, start to finish, lasts about 3 weeks for me.

Nessecary implements:
Nair bikini area unscented & for sensitive skin
washcloth
Large towel
small hand towel
A good book to read or the video game set up to play while you wait

Get everying together & fill the bowl with VERY HOT WATER.
Put the Large towel down in a comfy spot you CAN sit for 10-15 minutes
sit down, spread your legs in a way you can keep for 10-15 minutes...
dab washcloth in hot water & pat ONE SIDE if genitals to dampen hair.
apply nair by patting onto the hair until covered, do not get ANY inside the lips !!!
rinse hand, note time & wait as per instructions on bottle.
when one side is done, do the other side.

Personal experiences has taught me to NEVER do both sides at the same time... it is painful !!!
I only had irritation for the first time & that was my error of getting a scented type.
I have usually no irritation & usually go pantiless for the rest of the night to air dry the area...

I would LOVE to know how to get rid of the brownong in that area...
I see the pics where theyy are all clean & one colour but I have done everything short of peroxide to try & bring the pink back... :(

Thanks for the info Etoile!

I'd love to have everything done and not have to shave or wax or anything else again! The smoothness is delightful!

Waxing is the best out of the two, no doubt. I used to shave quite a bit and the itchiness and red bumps just ended up annoyng me and didn't look that great. I ended up getting my first brazillian this year and I love them. I didn't hurt as much as I thought it would, but I did end up yelling out a few times. Te only bad part about the first wax was that she look a while to do it and actually drew blood. And she missed a few hairs here and there. Yikes! But I switched waxers, and she got the job done in under 20 minutes and got everythig nice and smooth. And I felt incredibly naughty and sexy afterwards. Truly, its not that ad! Just find a waxer you like and feel comfortable with and go for it!

I've had blood drawn once or twice from a waxing; one time I was left with serious bruising on my bikini line (not genitals) for at least a week!

I've been pondering home electrolysis lately...

I shave regularly (once or twice a week) but for special events or trips will go in for a wax. I have black hair that seems to grow back crazy fast, so if I want that fabulous baby smooth feel for more than a few hours waxing is best. Walking around like that for a couple weeks with no effort seems... well luxurious  and makes me feel sexy as hell!

One trick I've learned about shaving is exfoliation. I do it just before shaving and for my next few showers after. Now I know it sounds crazy to exfoliate someplace as sensitive as your pussy/inner thighs and maybe I'm tougher than most but I find its really not that uncomfortable. At least not compared to that god-awful itchy pin prickle feeling the next day without it. A couple different methods work for me depending if I'm feeling more sensitive than other times. Salt/sugar scrubs (without perfumes just oils) or a soapy natural bristle bath brush or sometimes just a ruff soapy wash cloth. These just on the outer parts of my lips and in the crack of my ass, I never seem to have problems with itching on my inner lips even when I do have to shave a few stray hairs there. I use natural soaps due to the fact that I'm allergic to most perfumes. When I get out of the shower, while my skin is still wet I rub on some natural (read unscented) body oil like Jojoba or grape seed, then pat dry.

Honestly I think I'd be better off if I just shaved EVERY morning but I'm too lazy for that type of effort every morning before work.

P.S. If your going in for your first wax prior to a "special event" give yourself a couple days after for healing just in case. My first time I bruised. Luckily the girl I went with knew that I might and made our appointment a couple days ahead of our "event." She also invited me watch her get done first, I sat in a chair near the foot of the bed and... well that's a whole 'nother story :p

Exactly! :D

I use the glasses test

If I can see the stuble without my glasses, then it is time to shave again. Seriously, I am OK with a few missed hairs. I have thought about waxing. I had the spot between my eyebrows waxed once, and it hurt. I have a hard time imagining wax covering my balls, and then someone giving a fast yank.
I might consider waxing for the crack of my ass. I've tried shaving there and found out that I just don't work well with mirrors, and I am not double jointed, so I can't see what I need to shave.

As for you backside you just go by feel and hope you do good job. You could shave some back there and look at what you have done too and then visualize where you need to shave and make sure you hit those areas too. I use either my electric razor or my power quottro(sp) razor for all of my shaving needs. I shave maybe 2 times a week and make sure if I am going to play with M'lady to try and shave extra good too.

I've been shaving my bikini area for years now. I've found that a highly cost-effective means of keeping your pink bits irritation free is to smooth a dollop of vitamin-e oil over a freshly shaved area. It works on ANY body part, I use it everywhere I shave and haven't had a single bump or itchy spot since. Seriously, legs, arms, underarms, bikini area, even your face gentleman!

It can be found at your local Long's Drugs, Wal-Mart, anything like that...usually about 3-4 dollars for a 3 month supply. Much less expensive than 'bikini cream' and other nonsense like that.

This thread is great. I've also got the skin irritation problem when shaving, so I'll try a few tricks. I'm going on vacation in 3 weeks and I wanted to try waxing before that, but I don't think I'll have the time to test it out before going on my trip.

I will take these tips though, it'd be really nice to be able to shave daily and get rid of the stubble. :)

I got a brazillian for the first time two summers ago before a vacation in Hawaii and it was fabulously sexy. First, though, the woman doing it was bi. That helped. She had me put on these little panties (a disposable thong, that she ended up moving here and there as she went). The lovely warm wax, the smoothing of the strips and then the tart pain were only made better by the way she rapidly massaged the skin after. I was so wet and needing to cum by the time it was over. I swore after that that if I ever had a pet, I'd use waxing hair off as a pleasureable torture. (It's particularly satisfying in the buttcrack, I find.)
i get waxed by my sister she makes me cum when she massagees my cock

The Coochie is a shave product from...I think it's called Sleepover Parties or Slumberr Parties. It's a sell from home like Avon, but it's sex toys and toiletries. I have a friend that sells it. I'll do some emailing and see if I can't get the company's actual name for ya!

I just got the Schick Intuition, though I need to get the Intuition Plus! handle because I like the solid stuff better and it doesn't quite sit right in the original handle. I use the Intuition Plus! for sensitive skin and I use it every day (or atleast every other day) At first it was really irritating, but now I don't get bumps on my legs or my pubes! I like that it's not messy and I can shave and keep my shower time under 10 minutes! No more hairiness for me.

There's only one way of changing your skin color anywhere, and that's by using a commercial bleaching cream. I don't suggest doing it, because it's so very potentially dangerous.

Dark-skinned and ethnic women have a tendency to be 'browner' in the genital area, and there's nothing wrong with that. Every person has diffrenly colored skin. Just like diffrently colored hair (everywhere!).

The pictures where they're all "Clean and one color"ed is body makeup on porn stars, or digital airbrushing.

And seriously guys, about my previous post....Vitamin E oil is SO much cheaper than all these other products you're mentioning...you can get like a 2-month supply for about 2-3 dollars. And not only will the mix of lotion/Vit. E totally prevent razor burn and bumps, but it's also juts downright GOOD for your skin. I use the mix everywhere, not just on the parts I shave, and my skin is in WONDERFUL condition. It literally GLOWS! I don't mean to sound pushy but I -KNOW- this works and ALL OF YOU should try it.

*little shove* NOW GO BUY SOME!!!
