Accents that turn me on and off ...

I'm not so sure for me it's an accent that turns me on or off..
but more a tone..

deep, sure , confident voice in a man :)

For a female it's the tone that sounds like a tv reporter
intelligent, not high pitched , but not too deep.. good pronunciation
a bit sultry, sexy..

Tones and ways of speech that would totally turn me off would be the 'valley girl' talk.. 'like totally dude' , the 'gangsta talk' kind of like 'cool dat'. and the tone of voice in a man that shows no confidence.

It certainly is the attitude that can make all of the difference, apart from basic literacy.

Why do us New Zealanders always get lumped in with Australian accents? Thats like saying American and Canadians sound the same :(

I love a variety of American accents and also Scottish ones.

Australian ones turn me off.

Because there are so many Kiwis here. lol

I can never tell the difference, but they both sound great to me

Australian ones turn me off.

I OBJECT!!!!!!!!! lol. I do hate it when they lay on the Australian twang in home made movies, we dont talk like that

Last time I went to Australia I was asked I had turned the lights off in New Zealand. Yup there are a fair few kiwis over there now.

I can usually tell the difference but I do work in a job where I deal with a wide variety of accents.

I can't usually hear Australian accents I guess because I hear so many of them but the really twangy ones just have me scratching my head and giving them a blank look of incomprehension.

I can tell the difference between a Kiwi and Oz accent if i hear certain words. I have had a lot of conversation with both sorts of women.

Re: American vs. Canadian

It's a subtle difference. The main key is in the word "about" :)

I have to say that I like all accents. That said Deep southern states turns me off! unlike some here who dont' like a good new york accent for shame! lol

My favs are in no order.

French.
German.
British.
Irish.
Assie.
South Afican.
and New York!:D

I forgot South African - YUM! I worked with a guy from South Africa and he was infinitely hotter because of his accent!!!

I have a fairly heavy Scottish accent, so get in touch to hear it haha!

Turn ons: A posh English accent like Elizabeth Hurley's or a Canadian accent.

Turn offs: Scottish, Scouse, Manc, redneck American.

British accents soften my wiener beyond recognition.

By British - do you like most Americans mean English?

There are hundreds of dialects in the UK and 4 countries - do you dislike all of them?

I can't tell the difference between Canadian and American so I suppose I am guilty of the same :(

Yes, Secretlover1. I've been to the UK plenty of times and I'm fully aware of all the different dialects.

It's not that I "dislike" them and truth be told I find some are more appealing than others (that is if I want to start rating them in terms of preference). And yes... I've also had sex with a few British gals. Amongst them a Geordie from Newcastle and a cockney from London. They were great. Honest.

But as a general rule the whole "Anglo/Celtic" sound as emitted through a woman's nose doesn't particularly give me wood.

Truth be told I'm a sucker for any accent.

In a movie theatre there was an English fellow ahead of us and I heard him talking. When I thought he was going into the theatre and out of earshot I say to my soro sister, "That English guy has the sexiest accent!" Turns out he was not out of earshot and he heard me but he gives me one of these ;) Sometimes we get military personnel from Australia and the UK passing through our bases out here. I use to be a cashier on the air base and I would see them and sometimes they asked me questions like, "Where's the loo?" The loo?! So cute! :D

I think New Zealand has the sexiest accents though. In my Western Culture class my professor asked who was from a different country and this guy in the back of the class raised his hand and goes, "Ya, I'm from New Zealand [...] I got my green card." I couldn't pay attention to the rest of the lecture and the way he said "card" still makes me grin like an idiot.

Yes I am one of those women (possibly the only one) who comes close to having a panic attack when they hear a foreign accent.

As someone who adores The variety of dialects to be found the world over, I think it's the person, not the accent itself that's making the magic, when you hear it...

I LOVE a Scottish accent! I love to listen to the language... Gerard Butler letting his accent come through is amazing... Does make me wonder about our preferences? I noticed a lot of people who disliked a Scottish accent... I don't care for the Boston or New Jersey accent, myself... Nothing against the people!

People from the British isles could sound sexy just reading their grocery lists (as long as the lists didn't contain anything too horrid, of course.)

I always thought Nico (of the Velvet Underground & Nico) had a good combination with her unusual deep voice and German accent.

True. I know a really attractive guy who just happens to have a deep southern accent. I don't know if I find southern accents attractive or if it just sounds amazing because it's coming from his lips.

If any of you sound like Glen Hansard of the frames/swell season fame, I hereby propose marriage and running away to whereeverthehellyouwant so I can listen *ahem* to you all day and night long. If you have a red, bushy beard, i'll consider having your babies, a whole quiverfull.

Turn ons:-
AMERICAN! Lol I like how Californians talk, Midwest, Texan, Southern drawl
RP - Received Pronunciation (posh British basically) like Colin Firth and Henry Cavill
Southern Ireland - Belfast is quite harsh, Dublin is a lilt and sexy and soothing (I work with an Irish guy and he has a fan club because of his voice - well he's quite hot, too) lol
And I like lots of regions of the UK Geordies, cockneys lovely

I don't generally like Scottish - sorry Sciwi

And I like our accent - welsh

I love to hear (get turned on by) guys with New York accents, British, Irish, German, French, East European, mid-Atlantic.

I honestly cannot stand to hear a Scots accent or an Aussie accent. Total and complete turn-off!

Turn ons: A posh English accent like Elizabeth Hurley's or a Canadian accent.

Turn offs: Scottish, Scouse, Manc, redneck American.

I might never speak again
Does that count for all Scottish accents? There are alot of different dialects from region to region! That would be like me saying I cannot stand English accents but there are so many variations of accent!
