Anyone for a nightcap?

Dinner tonight was actually yummy - salad with a stalk of celery and a red pepper, (what luxury!), with grilled yellow fin tuna on top. I washed it down with 3, count em, 3 martinis in the hopes that I might kick this week's insomnia in the ass...

1:49am.

Didn't work. Sigh.

And now I have a headache.

Caffeine-free Diet Coke. I'm livin' large tonight. :D

But then, there's also a whoopie pie in my near future.

I am avoiding alcohol with my diet coke... and trying very very very hard to not kill the printer and the CD drive thingie - both of which deserve horrible horrible deaths right about now.

*bounce bounce bounce bounce*

After food and calmingdownness (gads I hope I'm not getting excited over nothing), I am going to have a glass of Rockbridge White Riesling the roomie brought back from Virginia.

*bounce bounce bounce bounce*

Bourbon (Maker's, of course) and coke... with just a wee sip o' the straight before I toss the coke in. :D

Nothing at all today/tonight. Got a case of the bad belly.

Trying to hold very still and not jostle anything. :(

Skim milk - with the last whoopie pie (though there's a rumor that more are in the planning stage. :D

We had some whoppie pies that I picked up at Walmart. Master had never heard of them, and when I said whoppie pie he thought I was talking about something perverse. :)

Grilling some lobster tails for a nice (I hope) lobster roll for dinner tonight. Planning to sip another Albarino since I have been wine-celibate for a week or so.

And Keroin, Happy Birthday! Be good.
And, nice rack! ;)

Tonight: some Yellow Tail Reserve Cabernet to go with freshly made pizza. No more whoopie pies, alas, though more may be on the baker's agenda shortly.

Hope you feel better today, K!
*hugs*

I feel 100%. Thank you.

LOL! I promise I'll have a happy birthday, no promise about the being good part.

Thanks LB

I am inspired to order fish tacos tonight. Not quite sure if/what I am drinking tonight.

Actually, it just dawned on me how much I miss living on the East Coast and how seafood is such a big part of my summer food memories. Clambakes and crabcakes and crabbing... my mouth waters thinking back...

From a food standpoint, I really don't like living where I live. :(

Although its a great place to live for outdoor exercise 9 months of the year. And our sunsets are breathtaking. Really.

OH, LB, I dream of fish tacos. I miss Baja so much!!

I feel the same about the West Coast. It has been almost two years for me without salmon. I get seafood here, obviously, but there's something about salmon, halibut and fresh dungeoness crab that will always be "summer" for me. Sigh.

I indulged in a few martinis last night but the bad belly returned with a vengeance today. Fark. I'm back on water and bread. Oh well, I had David Sedaris to keep me laughing between bouts of sleep.

I'm trying to decide if a glass of wine will help me sleep tonight... I've been too nervous the last few nights to get any decent rest at all.

Tonight is going to be another sleepless night for me. A glass of wine would be nice but unfortunately I do not have any.

Tonight it was one gianormous glass of Bailey's on ice... after the two glasses of wine with dinner. So far no major typos.... :D

The fish taco was delish. So was the cactus taco (that was a first for me)!

I read Sedaris' When You are Engulfed in Flames recently. It was pretty funny.

I hope the bad belly goes away quickly. No fun.

Thanks LB, belly has settled again but I'm sticking to prison food to keep it that way.

Can't say I've had a cactus taco, though grilled cactus is quite popular among locals in Baja.

Engulfed in Flames is the one I just read. Not as laugh-out-loud as some as his others, but still funny.

I haven't decided if I'm having wine now that I'm home, but I just got home from my first honest to goodness date-type-thing [with wine!] in years... it took three reschedules to actually make it to meet for drinks, but that was the funnest conversation I've had in ages and I'm glad we both decided to keep rescheduling.

Since I don't live *all that far* from Baja, I'm not surprised. Distance sometime being relative. ;)

My tacos were so good last night, that I went back tonight for a repeat. The cactus has a slight lemony flavor, by the way. Actually, the real reason that I went back is because we had a little mini-power failure here for a couple of hours right at hungry time. But I don't regret another cactus taco or fish taco.

My all time favorite Sedaris story is "Six to Eight Black Men" from Dress Your Family in Corduroy and Denim. Its his interpretation of Christmas traditions, starting with Holland. I laughed so hard that I cried.

Stick to toast, K.

Yay for the date! Especially a funnest date!
