I haven't decided if I'm having wine now that I'm home, but I just got home from my first honest to goodness date-type-thing [with wine!] in years... it took three reschedules to actually make it to meet for drinks, but that was the funnest conversation I've had in ages and I'm glad we both decided to keep rescheduling.

Wow! Very, very cool. It was the new hair, wasn't it? He couldn't resist.

Since I don't live *all that far* from Baja, I'm not surprised. Distance sometime being relative.

My tacos were so good last night, that I went back tonight for a repeat. The cactus has a slight lemony flavor, by the way. Actually, the real reason that I went back is because we had a little mini-power failure here for a couple of hours right at hungry time. But I don't regret another cactus taco or fish taco.

My all time favorite Sedaris story is "Six to Eight Black Men" from Dress Your Family in Corduroy and Denim. Its his interpretation of Christmas traditions, starting with Holland. I laughed so hard that I cried.

Yes, "Six to Eight Black Men" makes me spew beverage every time - I have the audio book on my iPod. Best line, "First of all, Santa didn't used to do anything."

I also loved his story in "Me Talk Pretty One Day" of the French language classes and the student's attempts to explain Easter. Hilarious!

Between Sedaris and Bryson, I never have to worry about lack of laughter.

Last night: finished off the pinot grigio, did a bottle of Rosemount Diamond Shiraz (two of us on these) and then a big snifter of scotch.

This morning: several monster cups of coffee to go with a big honkin' breakfast skillet of home fries, corned beef hash, 4 eggs, and swiss cheese, accompanied by two monstrous and fluffy pancakes. Should have seen the teenager fall victim to a tall stack of pumpkin pancakes. Each pancake was about 12" in diameter and roughly 1/2" thick. We used a pair of take-home boxes.

Story time, anyone?

So I made dinner for someone the other night, and he said he'd bring the wine. By the time I'd finished cooking we'd polished off the white, so he opened the red. And I don't normally drink enough to help finish off a bottle, plus open another. I only had one glass of the red with dinner (during which he eyeballed me and poured me a glass of Perrier LOL) then we went to flop and relax and chat.

So we're... relaxing, and the room starts spinning. And I say hmm... the room is spinning. I think I might want to excuse myself for a minute. He asks if I'm okay, I say not quite, and I wobble myself off to the bathroom with as much dignity as possible - and get sick. Brush my teeth, splash water on my face, and go back to my room where he's looking both concerned and ready to bust a gut laughing.

As I was changing, I officially declared the event had just made my "Top 10 most awkward moments" list. (At which point he couldn't hold back the laughter anymore. LOL)

No more reds. Red wine is dead to me. None. Nope. No more. I swear the headache didn't go away until 3 yesterday.

lol, I remember nights like that myself....when you are so engrossed in chatting and cooking that youdon't realise and before you know it yet another bottle is opened.

Yup remember many of those nights fondly...lying on blankets outside a friends house on the green, star gazing til early morning.

but I remember the next day too *shudders*

I can't do it anymore. lol I don't want to do it anymore!
