Anyone for a nightcap?

I understand.

And I'm drinking hot tea at the moment. A Christmas gift from my niece, from some store called Teavana. The type of tea is some long, unnecessarily complicated name that I can't remember, even though it's only been roughly 5 minutes since I looked at the label. Delicious, though. Very spicy.

I visited the local Teavana shortly after it opened. It's pricey but they do seem to have a remarkably wide range of teas for sale. For many, the price of brewing a single cup might rival the cost of buying a latté from Charbucks.

SIgh.

I'm on my way into the shop, and y'all are making me want Teavana (which is around the corner from us).

Have I mentioned that the wind chill in Dallas is in the single digits, and the idiots who "installed" the shops HVAC system kinda sorta maybe pretty much forgot to actually

A) install a thermostat compatible to the HVAC unit on the roof

or

B) Hook up said HVAC unit to the electronics of the [useless] thermostat?

(Please let the HVAC crew fix it today. Pleasepleasepleasepleaseplease...)

Really? In Texas? I would have guessed "winter" was 50 or something.

By the way, CM, a buddy of mine wants to visit San Antonio (for the food and the history) and Johnson City (for the history). I've never been to either place - when's the best time for us to go?

It's a balmy -10C/14F where I am today. Practically bathing suit weather by our standards ;)

Keep warm CM!

I was just in Teavana (window shopping) and was drooling over thier Assam. that is my all time favorite tea and I want to splurge.

I've often been wondering "is teavana all that?" I'll have to try it at some point.

There are rumors of -40 in the AM. rising to +14 degrees by mid day. WTH?

The second child survived nearly falling through a 100 year old plate glass window. (totally unharmed, thank goodness)

The window did not.

The Chenin Blanc is chilling in the refrigerator.

That is all.

Sigh.......

Is a dishwasher that isn't working somehow equivalent to the need for a kidney replacement? And in what parallel universe is that?

sigh..... pinot noir up at bat...

I would rank a dishwasher repair as roughly equivalent to surgery for cataracts. You can get along sort of without the surgery, but it's hell to do so and life looks much, much better afterward.

Starbucks decaf americano at the moment but there's a big honkin' glass of something vinous in my near future.

The last glass from a 3-liter Black Box of cabernet sauvignon. But there's hope, as we'll crack open a bottle of Hey Mambo to go with the leftover lasagna for supper. And if that isn't enough, there's a bottle of carmenere just waiting to be sacrificed to the wine gods.

I'm beginning to think that it might not be the best thing to have a 3-liter supply of wine sitting in the kitchen at all times.

White Merlot -

For celebrating a fabulous 6 month review yesterday, and forgetting a frustrating day at work, today. LOL

Congrats on the excellent review - though none of us here held any doubt that it would go otherwise. :rose:

Last night: an amazing cabernet sauvignon: Montes Alpha from Chile (under $20). Before that, we had a glass of Tabali Viognier that was light and springy, perfect to start a relaxing evening.

I recently attended a wine tasting and here are the top winners:
#1) "Sabastiani Sonoma County" Cab $18/btle
#2) "Menage a trois" California Red $10/blte (Yes, the title is perfect for Lit!)
This one was suggested to me as a little richer than Menage a trois and less expensive:
#3 "Her Fault" (red) $8/blt - Hey don't shoot the messenger!

I will be raising a glass of "Menage a trois" tonight! Enjoy!

Terrific! @Evilzeus, I trust that you will enjoy the Ménage à Trois. In fact, a few months ago I was chatting with a sommelier at a dinner party and she told that she likes to serve M à T at her parties, particularly with the chocolate course near the end of the evening. It's not the finest wine that she will serve, by any means, but it holds its own in good company.

And yes, I do thoroughly enjoy the name and all that it stands for.

Just a quick line to say I'm still alive... for anyone who might have missed me... Life's a bit complicated right now...

And to share that I had - not as a night cap, but for lunch - an incredible 2000 Clos du château that made my taste buds sizzle like shrimps in olive oil...

Take care, folks.. I miss you.

Saturday night: La Crema Chardonnay, Duende red, Montes Alpha Cabernet Sauvignon, Ménage à Trois red, and Medalla Real Carmenere. All in accompaniement of a boeuf bourguignon made with a bottle of Smoking Loon pinot noir (good thing there were four of us).

Tonight: the last of the Medalla Real and a bottle of Panilonco chardonnay-viognier.

Later tonight: more ibuprofen. ;)

it wasn't a night cap by any means! but yesteday, when I found out that EVERYTHING WAS CLOSED TODAY as in I would be stuck with all of these people who I love but can't stand right now....I had a few diet cokes mixed with vanilla vodka. That's right, it was only 1 pm as well. Fucking lush.

No worries here. We like people who enjoy their nightcaps no matter the time of day.

Having a Ménage à Trois....unfortunately just the wine.

Hey Wicked Woman...wanna see what happens when a WW gets together with and Evil Zeus?
All we need is one more victim... I mean...volunteer! ;)

*toast*
