Are they gonna publish anything?

Pencil sharpener at day, creative superhero at night?

Well, spread the news! Votes are open till Aug 8!
Got nobody to spread it to. I posted on my thread, but you're the only who goes there and you already know.
Me an' MacSlither can fight for your vote!
*OW! Quit it!*
"Imma poke you with my pencil!"
*OW! Quit it!*

You can perform the absolutely shameless act of self-promotion and point to the voting in your profile. Your endless stream of followers will be noticed.

Tried my luck several times. Maybe there are so many PMs coming in, that one gets overlooked...but with absolutely nothing being published, I guess the categories are officially dead now.

You still might take the chance to vote for the first time ever - and possibly last time - in Lit's Readers Choice Awards for Erotic Art and Adult Comics.
Maybe you'd like to pay one last tribute to Illustrated Poetry too?
Finally got the time to look at/read the illustrated poetry.
Well done, 29wordsforsnow! TWO pieces nominated.

Illustrated poetry (and illustrated stories) are extra challenging to assess, being a "package".
I voted for your "bare" poem.

Another vote cast for "Full Moon, Blanket of Stars". I was wondering whether maybe a shooting star could make an appearance in some form!

A bunch of new images were recently posted. *shrug*
Figures. I'll just post here. If that means less are seeing it? No worries. It's not really worth the aggravation of waiting a month or more for inattentive staff.

True.
Always can do both. :)

I do like having more control here — Speed, removing, amending, feedback (well... LOL), but one might be able to have conversations about pieces.

Another vote for yours, Throbbs. I like your non-cartoony, representational stuff - and from the voting figures I'd guess that goes for the majority. As soon as I see that look in a drawing - you know: the double/triple life-size-eyes look - my own eyes look away!

Thank you very much, Magineer. I mix it up. Many of my erotic images posted here lean towards "cartoony", though I also love creating drawings which might look as if drawn from life (and hopefully not as if drawn from photographs — meaning not too "stiff"...heh heh, though some "stiffness", and I know you know what I mean)

Looks like, whilst possibly stiff, it eventually... er... reduced in size...

Yes, I gather that many who consider themselves artists have trouble drawing without a reference picture, in other words strictly from the imagination. That does indeed strike me as a big ask. Where do you stand on this, if I may ask?

I reckon that any/every artist draws from reference at some point. Some, from life, some from phots, some use both. Some use photos as a crutch and simply reproduce them, adding nothing. That can be done "masterfully" — with great technique — for me that's a *shrug*, "why bother?" — "OH! It looks just like a photo!"

I find that with much experience, drawing from life (and from photos), that one can eventually draw on that (pun) experience/knowledge and if one has imagination, create fresh images. Most of my erotic imagery posted on LIT is from my imagination/memory — memories of figures and forms and events (not nearly enough of those LOL). I DO use photo reference at times, when accuracy is needed, tho' rarely for an entire image.

An example of a "mostly" reproduced photo of mine (when using photos, I prefer my own, but that is not always possible/feasible) is:
All ways, always. (I made some minor adjustments) There are some subtleties of form that I could never quite conjure from memory.

The drawings that I have posted that ARE without reference, one can see inaccuracies and deformities — I generally embrace those. Some are more intentional than others. Sometimes so that things (genital connections) can be seen that might not be otherwise. Or to show Giant cocks, or aliens...or. Sometimes it's just a stylistic choice.> Nipps&Tuggs just started with a vague concept and let it go (no reference). Venusian Mansnatch used no reference, though I have done a few sci-fi images where I looked at real space suits for ideas.

A very full answer, thanks. I imagined it might be something like that.

As a would-be dabbler in art myself (but useless with the human figure), I'm grateful for even the smallest pointers. What you say mirrors my own experience with the subjects that I do manage to get half to grips with. Oh well, plough on, I guess. I only wish I had anything like half your grasp of what's needed. Then maybe I could do a bit of justice to some of my stuff!

Keep on drawin'!
I've been drawing since I was 5 or 6... (i'm 62 now)
Took every figure drawing course at Art School and many others at Local art center...... practice!
DRew from Death/"life"? taxidermed specimens at The Natural History museum. Took every Architicture and drafting course offered. Took scientific illustration...
Always LOOK at your subject...too often we start drawing what we THINK something looks like. Simple example: kids (or adults) drawing trees (trunks) as brown (wood is brown, right?)... but most are grey.

Lots of "tricks" to learn (techniques). Learn to draw accurately (representationally), then take liberties.

Ftr- I voted for starry blanket in the erotic art category. It's pretty fucking phenomenal (and probably much more fitting to the "erotic art" category than my black n white scribble, lol,).

However, I am a dirty bird and voted for my own on the "comic" category tho. (Shrug). What can i say...I'm a dirty bird.

Also, next year's 2022 nominations are gonna be a little sparse in the "erotic comics" category. They've only pushed thru like 8 pieces in that category so far this year.

WooHoo! Thank you, MacSlither!
You certainly can/should vote for your own when you feel that's appropriate. I think you are justified!
I voted for my own initially, then reassessed and switched my vote to Alicemoon's.

It seems that any voting is tapering off. I tooted my own horn enough, and now my back is sore.

Quite the bummer that there is a bottle neck with publishing. Not sure that having the "awards" is enough incentive when the "system" is so dis(non)functional.

Lol. I don't know why I keep checking on this contest, but I do. Lol.
It's SOooooOoOooooo exciting!

I suppose it really would be if the votes kept rolling in. And/or if there were cash prizes. (I think there are some $ for top story winners)

Right. I'm tied for first on the comics one...with NINE VOTES. LOL. Its like watching a soccer game

No way!

Check again! You're one point AHEAD with 10!

Only about half as many total votes in comics...?
I'm guessing that's due to all my whining campaigning.

Lol. Well, I mean...I love the other work as well, the drawings are very good

BUT...

Is it really a "comic" as much as it is an "illustrated story"?

I hate to get technical...

Just joking of course. I'm not THAT petty.

Or am I?
