I don’t have any further insight into this, but it is my understanding that there are programs now looking for copyright violations with regards to photos. Please be sure that you own any photo you are uploading to Lit’s servers as attachments. If you aren’t sure, you shouldn’t upload it. You can still link to the images and should likely default to that.

But most of the photos in the playground photo threads can be found anywhere on the internet🤷‍♀️

I personally only take action with photos that depict a person who may be underage, a person who likely didn’t give consent (gotta love those who say “my wife doesn’t know I’m posting this…”), or violate rules regarding content like graphic content or genitalia. Most of what I remove are cock pics. Fun times.

People rarely report content for copyright violations. It is my understanding that the site owners are using a program to search/scan for copyright violations. Several people have posted in the tech support forum that they are no longer able to post images. I think these are all related. The safest thing is to only post images that you created/own and/or to link images rather than attach them.

The only people who can reverse a block like this are Laurel or Manu.

Yep. Anything to make this place less enjoyable. Great idea. Why didn't I think of that?

Copyright violations could put the whole site at risk. I’m sure this has always been a top concern for the powers that be. It just makes sense. The easy solution here is to link to the content rather than upload it to Lit’s server.

There would be an easy way to solve at least some of that. Prevent uploading from another site/URL. Only allow uploading from your device via file browse. However, this new platform seems to want to upload simply by pasting a URL into the reply box. It's more convenient in a lot of ways, but makes it harder to limit image source.

Many copyright violations are uploaded directly from devices. Screenshots make that very easy. Linking to another site actually seems to be preferred - any copyright violations are then made by that site, not this one.

If this has been answered elsewhere, I apologize. I’ve seen gifs posted where only the url address is available to be seen and I’ve seen gifs linked from a separate sight where the image itself is displayed. How do you do the latter rather than just the url on display?

Thanks in advance.

It’s still being done. I’m not able to post pictures at all, not even ones I own, but yet the threads are filled with photos found on the internet.

Your only real recourse is to reach out to Laurel if you would like this restriction removed. It’s not something that I have access to, nor can I do more than speculate.

This is bullshit! There's pics posted all over the forum that obviously doesn't belong to the person who posted them and yet they're still posting! Even I post pics that don't belong to me! WTF is going on here??? Why is GG being singled out here??? This is not right! GG is one of the nicest women on here and her threads are fun, positive and drama free! They need to fix this and allow to her to post pics again. She isn't hurting anyone.

Fucking bullshit!

No person targeted her or singled her out. This has been happening to a number of posters as evidenced by people posting in tech support and other forums about being unable to post photos. It is a computer program. I would expect that many more people will continue to find themselves unable to post photos. I don’t know GG and have no idea what she has posted, so I can’t speak to that.

Call it out as bullshit, but it is certainly understandable that the site owners are taking steps to avoid copyright violations. I have seen guidance from them for authors to help them avoid and in the event of their Lit stories being stolen, as well.

Whether others are doing it or not isn’t relevant, people should only post photos that they took or to which they own the rights or screenshots of publicly available information (like public Twitter feeds). Whether or not it has been enforced in the past is also not relevant. It’s always been in the rules and the site owners are cracking down on it.

Are we sure that's what it is? Am Pics is the really only board where people post pictures they took themselves.

I'm thinking more browser/device issue, or maybe some accounts are taking up too much server space. We can't see our attachments folders anymore despite having posted the tool for Manu to implement to let us do that again. But on the old forum software, I remember seeing some limits to how many attachments we could upload before having to delete some.

That seems reasonable, too. I do know that the ability to post images is being revoked for violating copyright, but I don’t know that that is the only explanation or possibility. For anyone posting a lot of attachments, this explanation would make sense. Either way, anyone affected would need to reach out to Laurel and/or Manu to inquire. No one else has this info or access.

I can understand the site owners concern if the pics are attachments, because that means the pics are physically on their site... however in GG's case, she doesn't do the attachment thing, so that shouldn't be an issue. Her problem is she can't post pics using the "Insert Image" button where you paste the link to the pic you want to post. She's saying she doesn't have that option anymore.

Which sounds more like a browser/device issue than permissions.

But again, Manu, Manu ... Shazbot!!!

I'm pretty sure the device she's using now is the same device she was using when she was allowed to post pics. At least that's what I gathered in our discussions about this.

Do the moderators approve the profile pics anymore?
Forum moderators are not involved with approving profile pics at all. The need for them to be approved is new, and I do not know the process or whom or what is responsible for approving. I suspect it is AI, but also since the time seems to vary it may be a person or people. Sorry I can’t be more help.

You're asking about Avatars that appear above your UserID here on the boards (like my pumpkin) ? Or something else?

If that's what you mean and you've uploaded one, be patient. Since you're new, it may take longer. Even for many of us that have been here for years, the new process can keep them 'In Moderation' for a few days.

I’ve been using my phone and tablet to always post images and then all of a sudden my attachment button disappears and I’m no longer able to. All of the photos that I’ve posted in all my threads are now empty links, but yet other people who post in my threads, their photos are still visible, how is that?
