Bandit's Blurt and Vent Thread

We went and picked up the prep for next weeks CT scan. It's different to the one I used for the colonoscopy so I hope I don't get any bad effects from this one.

Instead of 3 sachets of powder there is just one, plus 3 laxative pills to take the night before and a suppository to use the morning of the procedure. I'll probably be up and down all night to the toilet but Sir will be awake anyway so if anything happens I can call Him.

It looks like we will be able to dialyse Tuesday after all because I don't start the prep until 8pm.

I'm so sorry. I'm hoping your be past all the tests soon and everything will be in good shape.

*HUGS*

:rose:

Hey Bandit, sounds like they're really putting you through the wringer. Wow. Sorry to hear about all this. Hope everything goes well the second time around. I'll keep the digits crossed for you. :rose:

Well tonight I'm having to go through the prep all over again
I haven't eaten solid food since lunch (small piece of chicken) and my back teeth are floating already because of all the fluid I've had, and still more to come.

God I hope this is the last time for a while!!

Now who's sadistic idea was it to design a procedure where they give you lots of laxative to clear out your bowel, then pump it full of air and then put you through a machine - and then make you lie on your tummy all the while still full of air, with the hose still in your bum???

Not the most comfortable of procedures (understatement!) Mind you I would have won a farting contest if there'd been one to enter :eek:

I am happy to hear you are through that procedure. When will you be finding out the results?

I did have an appointment on April 9 but have had to change that due to other commitments - now will attend the clinic on 30 April instead.

I'm feeling better than I did after the colonscopy though, that seemed to knock me about a bit

Sorry to hear you have to wait so long to get the results. They can't get you in before the 30 April? Oh well. :(

Glad to hear that procedure didn't knock you for as much of a loop as the other procedure did. :D Hope your day to day has been a great one.

Sadly I'm the one who caused the cancelling of the appoimntment as I will be on dialysis that day as I need to see my renal specialist on the monday & it's the only way to fit my treatment & trip to my doc.

The up side is that if there was a problem we would of got a call.

{{{{{{Gil}}}}}:heart: It isn't your fault. I'm just surprised they can't fit her in sooner.

You are right about they'd contact you if there was something of note.

The bad part of treatment at the hospital, clinics etc is each only cares about their part of treatment & not the patient as a person. I has taken many years & a lot of heated debate with my renal specialist as well as him taking note of how I get treated within the system so I have dropped several clinics & he now keeps an eye on my treatment & with this my health is much better than it was so with this one doctor who actually listens to us & the care & love BANDIT:heart: gives me I'm in much better shape than before BANDIT came into my life, she is my Wonder Woman & a blessing in my life.

I can absolutely see why you guys stay with that doctor. :D And like you said if there was something that concerned them they'd get in touch with you.

 you must be bored as this post has me confused big time although BANDIT:heart: & I would love to find a switch to join us.

We went and got our flu shots yesterday. It includes the swine flu as well as 2 other strains.
This used to be on the subsidised meds list. This year it is not. Last year we paid $5.20 each for the vaccine. This year Sir got it free (because He has a chronic illness) and I had to pay $16 for mine, even though I am on a benefit/pension.

I am Sir's carer. A fat lot of use I would be to Him if I got sick. To top it off I read in the local paper today that health officials are telling people to get the flu shot before winter arrives  They urge people with chronic health conditions, families and carers to "have a vaccination so they were less likely to inadvertently pass influenza on to a vulnerable family member."

This shot is free only to those with health conditions, pregnant women, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders and those people over 65 years. Everyone else will, unless they have a health care card, have to pay $25, maybe more. Each.

I'm happy to hear you got your flu shots. How the people set it up where you are is ridiculous. They must be quite a group of incompetent, irresponsible, imbecilic, idiots!

Where I live in the States they did have some massive programs and if you went to one of those sites it was at no cost. I had to get a seasonal flu shot on my own and the H1N1 shot when it was available. It wasn't combined back in the early fall here.

Not every state did it, getting the H1N1 shot out the same way but it seemed to keep things from running rampant here. There were a number of hospitalizations and deaths here but it wasn't as bad as initially expected. Hoping the strain of the H1N1 flu that has gotten to you has weakened.

Will keep you both in my prayers.

I'm happy - got a surprise phone call from my 22 yo daughter today :D
I haven't spoken to her for months. She has no landline phone, no internet and communication has been through sporadic text messages (when she remembers to reply that is!).

She was at her dad's so used his phone. Dad wasn't home at the time. Oh dear what will he make of the phone call to Australia when he gets the bill?? I don't really care, and her words were "He'll get over it!" Got to love her!

My son is on his way to Switzerland for a computer conference/presentation thingy. Airfares and accommodation paid for by his work, although he's staying on for an extra few days at his own expense. This is his third trip to a conference, and the second overseas (the first was to Boston about 3 years ago).

Busy, successful kids. What more can a mother ask for....:)
