BDSM age 18-25?

I'm a youngin too!

I'm a 21 y.o. sub and I think the hardest part as a youngin is that most of the active groups tend to be older people, and despite sharing a common interest it's a little hard to set aside that insecurity. The last munch I went to I felt a little silly because everyone was older and had careers, and I'm still a student. I'm not against dating or playing with older people, but I think twice my age is too much. Emotionally, I don't feel ready for that. There are plenty of the TNG on the internet (probably has to do with the age), so if one is okay with the online distance relationship that might be better. Some universities have groups too. My school has a group called KinkyU devoted to discussing all topics kinky. Check student groups, you may be surprised. As with any group of people there are different cultures and once you crack the BDSM culture you have to crack the age culture.

I'm a 26 year old Dominant male who's been interested in the lifestyle since I was about 19...studying it from then on, and putting it into physical practice since I was 21. It has been my experience that there are not many 'proper' Dominants or submissives <meaning those who actually know what they're place is and how to use this lifestyle respectfuly and not to be a doormat or find a doormat> in our age range. Though with that having been said, I find the fakes and posers and those who 'play' at being a self proclaimed 'Master' or the like has no age range. I've found as many 30-50 year olds who just don't understand what it's all about as I have those in our own age range.

This observation of the facts doesn't come just from this site, it comes from others like Alt.com and Collarme.com among many others where you'll find the same pattern of asshole doms and people just looking to smack someone around.

Forgive my rant....but yes, you can add me to the list of those in this age range, keep in mind that some of us may be in hiding though.

<Oops..hit quote instead of edit.>

And Rakess, if one would like some advice from one who's been an accomplished Mentor and helped those with advice who are unsure or etc of their path...or for just good like minded intelligent conversation about the lifestyle be it for advice or otherwise....open up your PM box or send me one. Messages are always welcome and I'd love to see if I could be of assistance. I've been on CM and whatnot and know its hard to sift through the old scary ones from the genuine ones...among other posts I've found of yours. Just an offer, I try and do what I can when I see an opportunity.

I'm 21 in a couple of weeks, been into and practicing BDSM in some form since I was 14. I've been to munches in the past (after I discovered BDSM as 'a thing' rather than just 'how I do things') but I thought they were hideously dull so stopped going. I have no interest in clubs or 'the scene'. I really don't know if there's a lower proportion of late-teens-early-twenties people into BDSM than with other age groups, but I don't feel like there's a desperate shortage as such either. I don't really have any difficulty finding sub girls my age. Finding ones who are attractive, weigh less than me, geographically near, single, open to a relationship, biologically female and not mentally ill is a different story. And that's before getting into compatibility of personality/interests etc.

But that's dating, which isn't always easy in the vanilla world either. If you just want kinky friends I don't think there's a problem.

Speaking generally, "weigh less than me" should only matter if one is morbidly obese. If it ain't a problem for YOUR health, it ain't a problem for the person you're dating.

Girls tend to be shorter than men, and have less muscle and more body fat. So, if a girl weighs the same as me, chances are she's less healthy than I am. But in any case I didn't mention health, it's just a preference.

Fair enough. I did say "speaking generally" though - many people feel the same way you do.

Thank you! I will take you up on your offer.

My "interest" arose at a younger age then your range. I didn't understand it until I was about 24 or 25. I still haven't truly acted on it yet (o.o)

Haha, bring it on ;) It was actually just a cross thread flirtation directed at Layla.

Flirt to your hearts content, I've got no beef with that. I was just struck by how absurd it is to assume that two people are compatible and will get along "splendidly" simply because of their orientation, ignoring all other factors.

:) Yeah, perhaps I should have been a bit more clear than a random message like that. The "splendidly" comes in , in other areas than just BDSM. :)

I'm a 20 year old girl, beginning to explore my submissive side. It's something that shows more and more all the time.

As for your original comments about the scarcity of young people in the BDSM community, I think a lot of it comes from the inability to identify submissive and dominant tendencies. For example, 2 years ago, I had no idea I was a "submissive." My overwhelming love of following orders, doing anything to please my partner, always wanting someone to direct my actions in any life situation.... all of these (plus many more) were manifestations of my inner sub. Now that I am more educated and aware that there are people out there like me, I can identify as a submissive and seek growth in this area of my love life.

I'm the internet, and i request that flirtation be strictly kept out of threads.

because, thats why.
