I have two pair of shoes and a pair of boots leftover from living in the north where winter means my poor feet needed them.

The irony is we are talking about shoes in a barefoot hideout.

Shocking, right? I had to wear shoes when I started school...once I arrived, I took them off and put them in my cubby, like a NORMAL person. She not only made me put them back on, but expected me to wear them in the sandbox.

That was probably for insurance purposes or in case there was animal poo in the sandbox. But yeah you wouldn't wear shoes on a sandy beach, unlike those European beaches full of rocks.
