I've had friends who've been in your shoes. The female friend eventually worked up the courage to tell her husband. He was fine with it, within boundaries. They were then part of a healthy and functioning throuple for years after that, and even when the third went her separate way eventually, the couple came out of it with a healthier relationship because of what they'd shared.

I realize not everyone is that lucky, but it seemed like a good question to start with.
