I am so proud of America at this moment. ​

Today is a great day. All my life I have waited for a chance to vote FOR, and not just AGAINST. I have waited for someone who actually held hope, who offered me a sensation that perhaps there is still such a thing as a statesman, a leader, a president who actually wants to lead. All my life I've waited.

I sat in a bar last night watching both the concession speech and the acceptance speech. My friends were gathered around me. This bar is open enough to have a pretty high gay population, and one of my favorite young men and I sat with our arms around each other and cried like babies all the way through Obama's speech. And when he included the phrase "gay and straight" the whole room reacted. My god. We are no longer invisible. NO ONE IS INVISIBLE ANYMORE.

Obama's just a human. I don't expect him to save us. He can't walk on water. But he wants to work, he wants to make this happen, and he believes we can come back into greatness, behaving the way we ought to behave.

It's pretty damn beautiful.

I am so very proud of us all.

As for Kansas, well I can offer this: every time this happens, I hope we get a little bluer. It's not just solid red, and it gets bluer all the time. Bet in four years we might even be close to halfway.

One statement that truly impressed me was when he said, "I'll listen even more when we disagree about something."
