We don't have curtains here. Just little "Privacy barriers". No kidding,t hat's what they're called.

We didn't even have that. Each of the voting machines is simply set far enough away from the next that you couldn't look at that one's screen, and the entire line of machines perpendicularly sat 20-or-so feet away from where they made you wait in line for the next available machine.

As for Kansas, well I can offer this: every time this happens, I hope we get a little bluer.

and I might add - don't judge us by the people we elect and send to represents us in Congress

all in all - it is a good day to drive around Wichita, Kansas with an old "Obama 08" bumper sticker on my truck

dogging it, I'll bet :p.

Of course, the size of the mouth doesn't matter once you purse your lips around whatever might be offered...

True indeed, but there is also depth to be considered. And detailed control of the many different muscles of the jaw, lips and tongue.

We had these. They were close enough together that folks could have looked, but who cares, really? I vote in a tiny little town, in a tiny little community building that they use for everything from elections to boy scout meetings. There was no line. Very nice ladies, who sat around and chatted with townies and locals, most of whom were wearing overalls and feed caps. They seemed to know just about everyone who came in.

But y'know what? Even though I rather stood out in that crowd (I happened to be in a bright orange, rhinestoned indian tunic, kinda like this only even louder), no one judged, no one batted an eyelash. Everyone was friendly.

Kansans are good that way. They don't tend to take things at face value.

I talked up the Vote Naked campaign a lot last night. It's definitely got legs.

Buzz Not Harshed

Not by a long fuckin' shot.

We have a man in the Whitehouse who included gays in his acceptance speech.

We have a Sister for our First Lady.

We have a nation that managed to not embarrass me for the first time ever in a presidential election.

This buzz is unassailable, and cannot be harshed. Keep trying if you want. But it will do you noooooo good.

*exuberant and amused*

eta: oh yeah. And the behind-locked-doors part of life is particularly excellent, just at the moment. And the shop is back on track and doing nicely. And the weather is blustery, autumnal and completely perfect. And I have the resources to offer crash space to one of my grrrls who needs and deserves it right now. And my men love me. And I get to go home tonight to a cozy lasagna dinner and some uninterrupted writing time. forgot all that stuff in my excitement about the more general situation. So there's that too.

and this, even:

Indeed. Although getting Homburg just a little wound up can result in some really fun punishment, or so I hear.

I'm in too good a mood from yesterday to fret over such things. Consider yourself to have a pass, Annie.

first giggles of the day

i love the bistro

I also am extremely proud of my country, personally yesterday was the shitiest day ever, but i still drug my ass out to the bar, it just so happens that it was gay night, and that the place was silent, all eyes turned toward a tiny screen that held on hell of a speaker, and there was our president elect and his acceptance speech. No one spoke for 15 minuets and for those of you unfamiliar with gay boys in their early 20's, you cant shut them up for any amount of time for any amount of money. But there we all were, probably the only bar celebrating in this very red town, it was a great moment.

It will be nice to have a president that can speak.
You mean, it's not pronounced nu-cu-lar? :D
8 years at the healm, and he still can't say it....
.

One statement that truly impressed me was when he said, "I'll listen even more when we disagree about something."

Beautiful. Wise. Exactly what I hope for in a leader.

bj
That statement struck me too. Simple in concept, but completely impressive. Amazing how it escapes people on a daily basis. On 11-4-08, I felt a hope that was all but stamped out this time, 8 years ago.

Listening to Obama's acceptance speech, America The Beautiful resonated clear as a bell, in my mind.

On a separate note, I've been playing catch up for the last few pages, and y'all are completely hilarious. :D Have I mentioned how much I like you guys?

i've got a cup of hot cocoa, and there is more to share, anyone want some?

hopscotch or voyeurism

trying to figure out the rhythm of the rope here - would love to jump in and say "hi there, nice to meet you" - feeling less like I'm joining in verbal hopscotch & more like I'm into voyeurism.

welcome -
there are times the flow of conversation here is just wonderful, delightful actually

flowing like poetry and find wine...

then I shop up and jumble everything up into a mess

voyeurism is a fine activity as long as there are a few exhibitionists around.

enjoy the cocoa
