Chyoo 3???

Reclaiming stagnant stories:
I hate it when I run across a story that is pretty decent, but has all sorts of locked pages out on the edge. I think there should be some sort of method for "freeing" stagnant stories from their delinquent owners, perhaps if the owner doesn't log in or pay attention to the story somehow for 3 months. I'm not sure what the best way to deal with this is, but I think it's worth thinking of something.
.

Not all writers are delnquent, and I think that is far from the truth.

When there are problems, the moderrators or whoever is in charge fail to respond - at all. That's my experience.

I joined CHYOO years ago as "Orgasmosexicon", but it took weeks/months to get stories approved and so hadn't logged on for a long time. Then suddenly I can't log on anymore, I try to get a response about this and got nothing. Zilch. Nada. Absolute ZERO!

I tried many, many times over years. More recently, to add insult to injury, somebody else starts adding to my stories, approving things that I would never have agreed to, changing things, while I STILL can't log on with my original membership.

I just want my name back.....and my stories. Instead they're being turned to garbage.

sounds like someone stole and changed your password

Perhaps, but I never recieved any response from the people running CHYOO to any of my emails about this. That's why I'm never going to bother with CHYOO again.

As I said, I recieved no replies to my emails. Not one.

Even when they rejected one of my story ideas, they never bothered to give a reason as to why.

You're orgasmosexicon? Great, I thought you had gone AWOL on us!

I kinda took over your story "Jenny's New Life", as I thought the introduction was just too good to throw away, but as there is a lack of story approval, I have had no posts on it.

You are more than welcome to take it back. Copy and paste it as your own and I will remove my copy from CHYOO (as best I can). I will be happy to add threads to it.

Sorry if I pissed you off at all.

i'm back, sort of

i'm back, sort of. i got the itch to work on chyoo3 again, and since i didn't like the way the code was written, i'm writing it up from scratch, so that it will be easier for me to make changes and improvements and updates and everything else. To say it another way, this time I'm writing it the way I think a collaborative/cooperative story system should be written, as opposed to trying to write an exact copy of chyoo2. Granted, there are a lot of similarities :) , but I think that's going to happen with any system.

Those of you who have been around a while probably know enough not to put too much faith in me, given my little absense over the past, oh, six months? (has it really been that long?!), but for anybody interested in gambling, you can start chatting with me again. I plan on installing a forum on the new site, just for general comments / bug reports / feature requests / etc; I'll post here again once it's installed. Also, I'll read through the posts here on Literotica at some point in the near future. Maybe I'll actually get a "finished product" up and running.

Two things

One, orgasmosexicon, if you want to come back, we really want you back - it's considered the best story start even without any sex, please write some more.

Second, can we have approval for everying on C3? That really needs to be the first thing done, before you rebuild, I think.

Agreed. It's great to have you back. Good luck on your future version of CHYOO.

almost there

there are a few more little things i want to do, but the site rewrite is almost finished. once i feel like it's ready, i'll swap the version i'm working on over to the main page, and move the current version to something like old.chyoo.net. This means starting over with a fresh database, which means you have to re-import any stories that you imported to chyoo3 previously. Fortunately, the stories are being stored more efficiently, and the process should be much, much faster.

Don't be shy to point out any little parts of the chyoo2 system that i haven't yet written into chyoo3. the whole point of rewriting chyoo3 was to make it easier to add stuff in. Send an email to ofhabit@chyoo.net, and i'll try and respond in a reasonable amount of time.

Enjoy the Fourth, everybody. One year after chyoo2 closed, chyoo3 is opening (a second time). Chyoo is dead ... long live Chyoo. I'll be out of town, so drink a few for me :) .

Any chance of having an import from CHYOO3? I know of at least one story that only exists on Chyoo3 (Neverwinter Nights). I have all of the text for these (I keep all my threads), so my stuff would be recoverable, and therefore no import function wouldn't kill me. But it would be nice anyway.

old chyoo3 to new chyoo3

I'll look into importing stuff from "old" chyoo3 to "new" chyoo3. Is that the only story you want imported? It's probably easier for me to do it in the background than to put some sort of "pretty face" on the code to make it usable through the web. Are there many / any other people that want stories imported? If there are lots of you (more than 10 or 20 stories), then it probably makes sense to put a web interface on the process.

Another thing I'm thinking about doing is making the "old" chyoo3 site ( http://old.chyoo.net/ ) not display anything that was imported from chyoo2, but instead only displaying the stuff that was directly added to it. That would make it easier to see what needs to be moved to the "new" chyoo3 site.

So ... there's still lots to do. Moderation, still, is not happening, nor is email notification. I think story moderation has been proven not to work, and I think we should maybe go with a "approve it by default, and wait till it gets reported as bad to look for bad stuff" model. That's a little easier, and I think is more likely to work. Page moderation, on the other hand, was handled well in Chyoo2 (with writers becoming trusted, etc), and I'll probably try and emulate that particular system pretty closely. Email notification shouldn't be too hard, overall.

Look around chyoo3, figure out what all is still missing, and help guide me along the right path to replacing the missing functionality.

Anyway ... I'll be gone over the long weekend. Have a great Fourth, everybody.

One problem: the threads in imported stories have the wrong titles. The link points to the correct thread, but the title listed on the previous page is spurious.
The table of contents are correct.

The first thread is usually called "Mistake". And the second is usually "tour of the facilities".

I tried importing my story and it didn't go through.

I also tried writing a new story, but I can't add to it.

Well... I already registered. Does that mean I have to wait for you to manually/automatically import my stories from old chyoo 3?

Once you register, go to your personal page. At the bottom is a CHYOO2 import section. Add your Chyoo2 account name and then import away!
