I think we have to be careful about the words we use. IMO the submissive person is always "in control", because when they say "stop" (or whatever), things stop. They have to be able to withdraw their consent at any time. So they obviously have direct control over, I don't know, how hard, fast, whatever. This is really interesting, it might be worth popping the question into the BDSM forums and see what discussion comes forth.

My initial thoughts were that domineering personalities tend to clash, while submissive personalities are much more malleable - they mold into each other for better or worse.
