This one

describes very well how I feel about England. — Coming home soon. —

(Kinda reminds me too of kate Bush's Lioneart, if you know that.)

Letter From An Old God

Manicured and manufactured for mass love, I no longer
know your names, what you love, how you mate,
what terrors makes you scream into the night.
I no longer hear you hammer hymns into the sunset,
nor smell the sweat of rutting, the blood of birth.

So please, it is time, let me sleep the sleep of kings,

"hammer hymns into the sunset'
Man that's some sweet writing.

I love ther whole idea of this poem, this section, in particular, was perfect.
very nice work

You can’t build in death,
what should have been built in life.
But she, ever the actress, had her stage,
which didn’t require foundations.
She was Juliet, Desdemona, Cleopatra,
a heroine for every occasion.
And what better theatre,
than someone else’s memory?
A mute star in need of a voice,
and she with an audience
and a soliloquy to perform.

Look at you! You're getting your sea legs back already. That didn't take long.

Perfect image. :rose:

It is wonderful. Another poet who's back with a vengence!

On another note, I just realized I have three internet windows open and they're all here. Do I need a life or what? :D

No need to apologize. We've all done it, you know. :)

I'm working on another poem now. I was going to start again yesterday, but the poem's not um cooked yet, so I will when it is.

TRM — Cul de Sacs was awesome. You seem to be on a very depressing trip at the moment, and I'm really liking it.

Lacking confidence, you study
what you already know,
been taught and read.
Flashcards with familiar words,
and definitions put in neat little piles
of 'got to learn' and 'got it down'
is re-memorizing, massaging
the frontal cortex to orgasm.

It may make you feel good but
it's still masturbating
that kills brain cells and

psst...you have none to spare.

Yay, you're in! Did I ever tell you I love your name? Jamison is a beautiful name. :rose:

:rose: Thank you and :rose: thank you.

I only added my Suddenly Passion to the challenge once I saw that I met the minimum requirements. I'm such a slacker.

No you're not! If I get 30 poems out of the 5/5 thread, I'll move them over to the 30/30 thread for instant gratification. Now that's slacking. :D

Ok. :)

It has a thick cinnamon sugar crumb topping. We had it with creme brulee ice cream. We're laying around now smiling at each other like we just had great sex. Isn't sugar wonderful? :D

A New Kind of Blue

Some days, it’s a love story. And
what I carry in my heart
is destroying me—your heart.
This is a new kind of blue, more

than a state of mind. A slave’s song—
hardship as thick as the blue smoke
of a backwater honkeytonk, almighty
as the crooked blue notes that rattle

church rafters in Mississippi. Like that, a wild
pouring of the whole self outward,
free of our common gags.
And what is more chaotic than love?

The one I’ve been allowed lies
like a lifeless baby
I cry to in the crook of my arm

until I’m as full of myself as a drunk
who makes the earth pivot
around him, dizzy enough
to swear he’ll never drink again,
to close his eyes and whisper uncle.

.

Oh geez God this was painful to read — painful and totally fucking beautiful!

I  this. It made me tear up because it's beautiful then also projecting myself into someone else's snowglobe.

Thank you, J. :)

When I came back from NJ on our recent trip I brought back this Frosty the Snowman snowglobe my dad gave me when I was 7 or 8. It's nice to have it again. I stare at it and remember. You understand.
