Crafty Litsters show your work!

My problem is more having enough floor space. My apt is tiny, and my sewing takes up about 75% of my living/dining area!

I think I can do the children's costumes on my bed. I have fabric hung on the walls in my bedroom anyway, so back drop is built in. But the adult stuff will have to wait until it drys out and I can go mobile.

Would the bathroom work if you could rig up a backdrop?

Lately I feel like my lathe skills took a jump. Here are some of my new pieces-- a series of magic wands, all of them under 13 inches long and crystal tipped. I don't know why this size pleases me so much. The crystals look more proportionate, or something.

Also, I am very pleased with the pictures I've been taking!

Native Black Willow, gemmy aquamarine beryl tip, obsidian pebble in the base. Silver and gold leaf.

There are more, too-- i can't stay up any longer tonight. I
ll be adding them to my etsy store over the week.

which end do you insert?

(kidding, they are lovely!)

If you really do need to set up a mannequin on your bed, a piece of plywood under the bedspread will make it more stable. Or, a folding table--folded of course-- or a plastic tray... anything that's kind of stiff and big enough to get the whole mannequin stand onto.

If you have the room for a couple of milk crates against the wall beside the bed, you could raise the mannequin up on them and give yourself room to focus from the other side of the bed...

It surely takes some thinking outside the box.

What about your kitchen space, is there room in there?

I had thought about moving the bed out, but it's too heavy to move by myself for it to be practical.

I don't think I'll be able to get the adult ones on the bed, but the child forms should do good once I get some boxes from work.

No, the kitchen is about the size of the bathroom. I bearly have room to cook! Which might be why I don't enjoy cooking at home like I do at other people's houses. On top of that, my laundry room is spilling out into the kitchen, making space even more limited.

I might be able to rearange the living room a bit. I really wish my mom was in the mood to help with that. I need to sort some things out.

I will probably just be forsed to keep taking the costumes "on location". It's really not a terrible thing, I loved the way the pictures turned out. I think almost all of the costumes I have right now (adult wize) have been photographed before, so it's just the new ones I have to worry about.

I'm just going to have to start looking for a bigger apt. There's no getting around it. I need a second bedroom.

ETA: I got it! I can set up laundry lines on my balcony and take photos there! Might get some funky looks from the neighbors, but what does that mater really? I'll have to move my plants a bit, but I think it could work!

Yay, now you're thinking sideways!:D

I love looking at the pictures in this thread, although it really does make me a little bit jealous.

I was trying to learn to crochet over the Christmas and I actually managed to make a tiny little pot holder, which I very proudly wrapped and gave to my mom. She knows that I'm.. umm.. a little bit challenged on the arts and crafts department, so she really appreciated my gesture, even if the pot holder wasn't perfect.

Well, my aunt came over and saw the brand new pot holder hanging in the kitchen and told my mom to give her compliments to my nephew, as he's clearly done a good job with crocheting for a 9-year-old. So.. yeah.. no pics of my handywork. :D

But really great work, everybody. Keep the pictures coming! :)

Seela, if you crocheted me a pot holder I would use it with pride.

Aww, thanks Stella! I've been wanting to learn how to knit, because I'd like to make socks, but I just never seem to have enough time or patience for it. Crocheting has been a bit easier, but I still am not very good with it. I need to start practising again once I get the apartment sorted after the move, and maybe then I can try to pick up knitting, too.

My mom does use the pot holder, I just found it very telling of my skill level, that my aunt thought it was made by a 9-year-old. :D

Don't feel bad, I have the same problem with crocheting. I can knit anything, even knitting pictures into a design or complicated cables, but crocheting does not come easy. I have done a little, and under supervision went well, but just as quickly lost it all. It is on my to do list as I hate letting things get the better of me, but for now, the skill deserts me.:)

Finished a quilt top today.

It's a cross between an Ohio star and an Irish chain.

:)

Yum! I love the lush greens against the white!

Thanks.

I think it's going to need a border, but I can't decide on what would suit it. I have more of the fabric that I used for the triangles, and more of the black, but no more of the white.

Maybe a thin triangle fabric border, then a thicker black, then another thin triangle? Would that be too dark? Maybe another fabric all together. I have a groovy tie dye looking green that might work. Maybe that and then bind it in the triangle fabric?

I'm also trying to decide on the quilting. I have a really neat looking celtic knot patern that is hearts that form a shamrock. Very fitting I think. I'm just trying to decide if doing it in a varigated thread would be too much.

Look at that! Great job, Keroin!

It really looks terrific.

A lot of martinis went into that... :)

Sweet. Is that glass in the far rail?

You still have snow?!?!

Thanks! Yep, that would be glass on the front. Special ordered.

And dude, the first week we worked on this, it snowed at least once every day.

LOL, yes. A LOT of martinis. (Also some prescription painkillers and muscle relaxants.)

Thanks, we're really happy with how it turned out. (And so was the client, in the form of a very generous tip). Wish I took some "before" photos. Quite a difference!

You worked that high up in the snow...

sounds fun! :D

Okay, my crafts aren't anywhere near as awesome/big/intricate/etc as all of yours are!! But I'll share a few anyways. (hope the pictures show up right!)

I make small "bookcases" out of trimmed boxes:

I go to a special art class every week, where I make all these.

Marie, I like them! I like the green book case and I'd hang the mirror on my wall with pride :rose:

Keroin, the scale of that deck project is just gorgeous. And what a view...

Is the forward part concrete?

Thanks Stella! Yeah, there aren't many bad views in Nelson but that one is particularly stunning.

The forward part is vinyl and it's the only part of the original deck we left intact, since the vinyl was still in good shape. Though we did have to lower one side of that deck by 3" because the original builder neglected to put any slope on it at all - which makes for a very nice swimming pool effect.

Excellent work, and very stisfying I imagine!!:rose:

Catalina

Thanks Cat! Very satisfied to be finished, ohhhhhhhhhhh yes! :)
