Crafty Litsters show your work!

Really neat project today. This client has built a beautiful little Japanese garden in one corner of his yard, for his wife who has a severe case of Alzheimer's. The landscaper he hired to build a waterfall also put in a pond, which the client didn't want. Go figure. So he hired us to build a little deck over the pond. Anyway, here's the garden area...

Here's our work in progress...

And here's the finished deck (the waterfall isn't running yet)...

Nothing spectacular but there were a lot of fussy angles and such. I love how it looks - like it's floating. Crafted, as always, with sustainably harvested, western red cedar .

@Keroin, I want a garden like that when my Alzheimers kicks in for good. With a geisha or two, of course. ;)

So does the cedar age to a gray in the sun without a sealant or does it maintain its color?

Gorgeous, Keroin. It's such a pretty, graceful shape...

Thanks Stella. Yes, it came out as a trapezoid because of the shape of the pond, but I like it.

LOL. It is a lovely space he's created.

He had originally planned to stain it with Broda (an environmentally friendly stain), which would have turned the wood a slightly darker shade (like wet cedar) and kept it that way, but now he's decided to just let it go silver naturally. Personally, I would have gone with the stain. Those 2x6's are just too beautiful as they are now.

Completely kewt! If I had any current need for calling cards, these would be nice. But, alas, no job, no need for calling cards. And so far my job has always provided to boring bulk standard cards, so I guess I'll never get cute ones.

I know how to make roses out of drinking straw wrappers. :D

those are lovely!!!!!

Thanks, guys :)

Seela, these are not business cards-- but calling cards. You know, if you're out and about and you get talking with someone and you want to give them your phone number so as to keep talking... you hand them one of these instead of fumbling for a pen and a sales receipt in your purse or pocket...

I've been really enjoying this sort of miniature graphic design.

Aah, but I'm not used to fumbling for a pen anyways. I just program it in my phone. And I'm so boring, that I hardly ever meet anyone outside of a business setting. :D

But I still really like your stuff. It's veeery cute. :)

Lot of cool things being doe on here people. I'm not much of a craftier. I do play around with color pencils and paint some. I just finished this over the weekend.

THAT'S YOU AND QUEEN????
Actually, their faces are stripped in-- The guys weren't actually on the set...

But we got a chance to meet them backstage for a halfasecond, before the concert. And we did have very good seats!

I'm going to pretend you didn't ask that. You are not THAT old!

Here ya go...

Thanks....I never knew who did that. In self-defense, I had been out of college for a few years by the time that came out and was about two years into a no-pop radio and no tv kick that lasted another 5 or 6 years.
