Yeah they wrote Mahler's third.
And they painted Van Gogh's Starry Night.
Good enough?
You mean they didn't write Hamlet? Amateurs.

What to do with spare time, which I'm not yet used to; very little skill and talent, and an odd mix of craft supplies? Make a tree! Craft, scrap and wall paper, a clay pot and some acrylic paint. Red and white for the 4th of July, Christmas and Halloween.
What treemendous fun these are!

These are all so wonderful.
Sigh. I WISH I could draw. There are still times when I'm conviced I can, and get out the sketch pad, the pencils and go to town. Realize then that I have no artistic talent whatsoever.

There's ALL kinds of art. Just because the pencils and sketch pad elude you (trust me, I know the feeling, I can barely draw a straight line) doesn't mean there isn't some area of the arts you might kick ass in.
Music? Writing? Metalwork? Dance? Etc? Etc? Etc?
sheesh thats how i feel about singing. What i would give to have a barely decent voice! Its not for lack of trying though....im always singing, its just BAD.
honestly, if your looking for something relaxing, painting can be that thing...even if you don't consider yourself good. Im just messing around with cheap paints (and ive got plenty of bad paintings to show for myself). Some of the relaxation is lost on me because im a bit of a perfectionist with things, but its nice to just have music playing and a few hours to kill poking around on a canvas.
I guess I didn't widen the scope. Music! I play, and have performed in a number of groups (and genres) and love it. Thanks Keroin!
Speaking of music.... The Rochester International Jazz Fest kicks off today and lasts until the 18th. This girl is too excited. I've got a number of concerts to attend scheduled, friends coming in from out of town, and it should be an awesome time. The city is transformed. The entire downtown area will be full of good food, good wine, good beer, people from all over, and the most awesome music.
If I had the time, I'd find a link to my newest fascination - Trombone Shorty - aka Troy Andrews. His first solo CD is Backatown and it's awesome, but to see him live is totally different. The riffs this guy (kid, really) lets loose with? A true musical genius, nothing he can't play.

Aha! You are an artist. I knew it. I would KILL to have musical talent.
Kill.
Sigh.
Oh well, in my truck and my shower I am a diva.
Have fun at your Jazz Fest! We have a great Jazz Fest in my neck of the woods (and I do mean woods). http://www.kaslojazzfest.com/v3/
ETA: You should chat with DVS. He's also a musician/music lover.
Oooooh, very nice.I've been indulging in my obsession for hidden messages...

the other side is easy...
