Being the mother of a 16YO, I can't really say I'm in favor of this plot. And yes, there are laws, but based on my memory of 16YO boys from when I was a lass, calling it rape seems like saying that I forced my cat to eat pieces of sashimi...

That's why it's called STATUTORY rape... Because there's a STATUTE making it illegal.

According to the law, if you're under the age of consent (which varies from State to State), you cannot legally GIVE consent... Hence, it's considered rape.
