Embarras de Richesse

MadeYaLook made me look, and his debut with "Lesbian Best Friend" is worth a look indeed. Good character work, the characters' emotional turmoil is real (sexual identity is a terrible thing to waste) and the ending is a complete feel-good. Oh yes, the sex is hot, too. And I didn't even stop to quibble. I look forward to more from this talented writer.
Thank you so much for your kind words, estragon! The feedback to the story overwhelms me, and is an incredible motivation boost. I feel like spending another couple of days off in front of my laptop and abuse that keyboard. I hope I'll meet your expectations and don't end up in your Disappointments thread :)

Some good stories already posted in the V-Day contest. RedHairedandFriendly retells the Eros and Psyche legend in a hot, sweet way. DG Hear, MFG, has posted a masterful non-erotic feel-good in "Chocolate-Covered Cherries". Looking forward to the next group of postings.

SilkStockingsLover has posted one of her hot submissions (pun most definitely intended), and the initial reviews are almost as hot as the story. This writer has a fervid imagination, which she is glad to share.

And apparently another Canadian, brentcanuck, has made his/her debut with a humorous V-Day entry, "Schwanky"; cute and funny. Hopefully the H&S category, often neglected in the competition, will get some recognition this time around.

Still more Canadians. nicecthulhu has got "Alexandra's Valentine's Day", a sweet first-time story, complete with a favorite dessert of mine, Tiramisù. We've got a North American Free Love Agreement going, and it's good stuff.

Back in the USA, as Chuck Berry would have said, we have TxRad's "What Bear Sees", a voyeur/exhibitionism with a kinky ending and lots of skin in the game. Tx really lays it all bear--oops, bare. Sorry, guys.

DeYaKen's latest "Me Time" is an LW, a category I have trouble with (but less than with some others), yet this story kept me reading. Good characterization, and a believable plot, but the mechanicals definitely need work. I expect DYK will catch the usual flak from the trolls.

DG Hear, MFG, has another V-Day entry, "Joe". His fans will not be disappointed, as the story is hot, and has a bite.

The floodgates have opened, and more V-Day entries are posting. Angellica1612's "Eros Gets the Job Done" got the job done for me. Sweet and well-plotted; just needed one more read-through to clean up a couple of typos, but the writing is solid and the plot is cute.

It's Nice to Be Needed

I won't mention the writer's name (to spare him/her embarrassment); I will say that s/he was not an author for whom I copy edit. Nor was I asked to copy edit the posting in question.

But the homophone in the piece was too good not to pass on. It had to do with a man being a cock-hold. Well, as I heard tell when in Vietnam, "Grab them by the cock and balls, and their hearts and minds will follow". I guess a cock-hold is what starts that process. And some others more pleasant.

A cuckold is--well, read all about it on Lit.

Sorry, guys. Back to work.

The V-Day contest is in full swing (pun intended).

DG Hear, MFG, has just posted "Joe", the story of a long-distance trucker, and it's a good ride.

And CambriaRose has posted "One Last Valentine's Day", which will get various ducts flowing. A strong contender.

Has anyone checked out the genres I don't cover, like GM or SciFi/F? Got any hot tips for fans of any of those?

Thanks for the comments Estragon, much appreciated. I need all the help I can get. LOL :D

DG Hear, MFG, the only help you need from me is copy editing, and I'm glad to provide that. Your record on Lit shows how good a storyteller you are.

SilkStockingsLover has posed "Valentine's Day Threesome", and barring my copy editing goof in the first line, it's got something for almost every taste. Silk has a vivid imagination, and lets it all hang out (literally).

Except is wasn't a goof; the author overruled my edit, as is her right, and at least one reader liked her version better. Great; I'm completely on board with whatever makes the story better.

Speaking of good stories, three just posted today (1/29). Here's the rundown:

Rachlou, coming off a long layoff, first gave us “Absolut Hell” and now has “Lost and Found”; too many second chances, as one commentator said? No, not ’arf! Good stuff. I guess Valentine's Day is a big deal in the UK.

Then comes Chiara23 with “Vanessa’s Tale” (pun?). At first I was going to put this in my “Disappointments” thread, as it ends abruptly. On reflection, though, reality is often abrupt, and happy endings don’t always happen. But judge for yourself.

Finally, a cute, hot story from Angellica1612, "Turnabout's Fair Play". I’ve lectured to organizations in my time, but never got this kind of treatment. Cupid may have gotten it done in Angellica’s other entry in the V-Day, but this time Amber, her heroine, gets the job done her own self.

The V-Day contest is heating up, fer sure.

And a non-contest chain story by RedHairedandFriendly, about a bus ride, that proves that getting there is more than half the fun.

Many thanks for your comment Estragon. Vanessa's Tale was intended to be short and succinct to reflect the brevity of her and Carson's relationship. I realized afterward that I should have made mention that this was her side of Over A Piece Of Pie which would have made a lot of sense and eliminated any confusion. I do appreciate that some people want a part two to Vanessa's story and that may very well happen. She was a fun character and her behavior in 'Tale' was very out of character for her. Maybe she deserves a happy ending after all. But after her career at DynaTech is over...

Chiara, maybe I was too quick to criticize "Vanessa's Tale". Howbeit, keep writing. Not every story can please every reader (and oh boy, is that true in my case!).

Very true estragon we can't please all of the people all of the time. Fortunately with a site like lit everyone can find a fan base. The writing style that works for me may not work for someone else. Never fear big E i still love ya!!

Lovecraft 68

has a story I really like, "Home Is Where the Heart Is" Not in his usual incest genre, this is a Romance billed as "Mature". It takes a lot for me to quibble a seven-page story, especially when I'm on vacation, and I'm not finished yet. Good work, LC!

Finally finished quibbles to Lovecraft68's "Home Is Where the Heart Is". Really a good story, running very strongly.

Holy shit, I made your thread! Truly this is a sign that the world will indeed end this year!

I received your quibble and printed it out to read while I'm supposed to be working today. Thank you for the plug and spending your vacation time to put together some things for me to work on.

Now I'll go you one better, if you ever get to RI I know a fantastic Italian Restaurant that has killer martini's.

LC, haven't been in Providence in years, but a killer Martini (or two) is a strong inducement.

So far the weather here has been less than sterling, but at least not a washout. Anyway, I got some copy editing done for SilkStockingsLover. She has a new multi-chapter that rings all the changes. Everything for everybody (almost). She won't be posting for a while, though, she says.
