For Those Who Might Be Wondering Why We Might Be In Ukraine

European countries working with Ukraine are doing a good job training junior officers and NCO's, but the ZSU's problem is senior officers are often stuck in the rut of Soviet military doctrine and have not been retrained or adjusted.

You'd think senior officers would be past any need for training.

You'd think senior officers would be past any need for training.

Most of Ukraine's successes have been due to the junior officer and NCO training on western military lines. Part of the problem is many of the more senior officers were trained under the old Soviet Red Army doctrine and have not adapted or been retrained. Tom Cooper has also said much the same thing many times and these are strongly pro-Ukraine analysts/

Russian pilot Dmitry Golenkov, who participated in Moscow's war against Ukraine, was found dead in the town of Suponevo in Bryansk Oblast on Oct. 20, Ukraine's military intelligence (HUR) reported. HUR published photos purporting to show Golenkov's body in an apple orchard, without claiming responsibility for the incident. Golenkov served as chief of staff of a Russian aviation squadron. He was a pilot of the 52nd Heavy Bomber Regiment of the Russian Air Force, which is based at the Shaykovka airfield and hosts Tu-22M3 bombers. Russia uses these aircraft to carry out missile attacks against Ukraine. Golenkov was involved in missile strikes on Ukrainian civilian targets, HUR said, including the Amstor shopping mall in the city of Kremenchuk in Poltava Oblast in June 2022. According to authorities, more than 1,000 people were inside the building at the moment of the attack. Twenty-two people were killed, and dozens were injured. Golenkov was also reportedly responsible for an attack on an apartment building in the city of Dnipro in January 2023. It was one of the deadliest single Russian attacks on Ukraine, killing 46 people, including six children.

According to the agency, Golenkov suffered multiple head injuries, probably caused by a hammer.

Here's hoping it was a Ukrainian operator who got him. Far more cost effective to crush his skull with a $10 hammer than take him out with a $million dollar SAM. Asymmetrical warfare at its best.

The best thing to do with most Senior officers in Major conflicts is to get rid of them. George Marshall is reliably reported to have sacked or re-assigned over 100 General Officers in WWII. Stalin was equally effective and more direct; he had dozens of Generals shot in the thirties purge, and more during the war. Nearly all history's successful military leaders were younger men in their 30's to fifties.

The Carnage of WWI was the result of leaving out dated geriatrics in charge.

The package includes a range of capabilities to meet Ukraine's most urgent needs, such as:- Air Defense Capabilities: Additional munitions for National Advanced Surface-to-Air Missile Systems (NASAMS), RIM-7 missiles, and Stinger anti-aircraft missiles .- Air-to-Ground Munitions: Ammunition for High Mobility Artillery Rocket Systems (HIMARS) and air-to-ground munitions .- Armored Vehicles: High Mobility Multipurpose Wheeled Vehicles (HMMWVs) .- Anti-Tank Weapons*: Javelin and AT-4 anti-armor systems .- Small Arms and Ammunition: Grenades, thermals, and training equipment .This is the 67th package of equipment provided by the US to Ukraine since August 2021 .

Part of the ongoing drip-feeding of support to Ukraine by the USA. No Patriot systems. No Bradleys. No Abrams. No F16s. The Biden Administration's policy of appeasement is both pathetic and cowardly.

🙄

Chloe “Chicongo” Tzang understands nothing about logistics, supply / supply chains, and how the U.S. is working within a coalition to supply support to Ukraine.

😑

Also:

Russia made its greatest advances during the timeframe where the REPUBLICANS blocked military aid to Ukraine for SIX MONTHS. The Russians STILL have some residual momentum from that REPUBLICAN delay of military aid.

👎

🤬

Meanwhile: The US and our allies are finalizing the details of the leveraging of seized Russian assets for MASSIVE loans to Ukraine so they can become more self sufficient in arms production, etc.

Thanks President Biden and Vice President Harris!!!

Slava Ukraini!!!

Zelensky’s Victory Plan Does Not Fly — As Many as 7 NATO Countries Are Opposed to Ukraine Joining the Military Alliance During the War: REPORT

by Paul Serran Oct. 26, 2024 7:00 am

“Germany and the U.S. are among the major powers slow-walking Zelensky’s call for an immediate invitation to join NATO, according to four U.S. and NATO officials and diplomats who were granted anonymity to share the latest internal discussions.”

Zelensky’s plan asks for an immediate invitation, but joining the alliance can only be possible after the war with Russia ends.

Key countries in the alliance are worried about being drawn into a war with Russia.

“Outgoing U.S. Ambassador to NATO Julianne Smith underlined the American position. ‘The alliance has not, to date, reached the point where it is prepared to offer membership or an invitation to Ukraine’, she said.”

Zelensky is deperate the Eastern Front continues to collapse.
Zelensky is looking for better ways to expel an invasion force from his country.

People don't like being invaded

The Eastern Front is NOT collapsing. Russian daily losses are well over their ability to replace. It's the mud season. Russian attacks are weakening, Ukraine is gaining artillery superiority.....over the last two days, the (Ukrainian) 95th Assault Brigade continued mauling (what’s left of the Russian) 155th Naval Infantry to that extent that over the last couple of days, the troops of the 95th Airborne have been first and foremost busy counting the bodies and collecting arms and ammunition left behind by the now deceased Russians. On the other hand, Syrsky doesn't seem to be doing a great job of command and control and forming coherent units, nor of ensuring adequate logistics are in place. Strikes me a new military C-in-C is needed as Syrsky doesn't seem up to the job.

In an interview with WELT AM SONNTAG, Rheinmetall CEO Armin Papperger once again confirmed that the first (batch) delivery of Lynx IFVs to Ukraine will include exactly 10 vehicles (delivery starts this year). While he puts Ukraine's total needs at 3,000 vehicles, he confirms once again that nothing has yet been decided regarding further deliveries, as it is still unclear who will pay how much. This year, Ukraine will start producing Lynx and Fuchs armored personnel carriers.

If the German government does not decide to allocate extra funds in the budget for military aid in 2025 during the budget negotiations by mid-November, Ukraine will have to finance contracts itself using the billions in loans from the G7 and the EU financed from the profits of the frozen Russian assets (which sounds bad but this is what they were made for).On paper the Lynx's are better protected than the CV90’s and older Bradley’s which are well-liked by the Ukrainians. Rheinmetall is building four weapons manufacturing plants in Ukraine, says CEO Armin Papperger. The first plant is already operational, with the first batch of Lynx IFVs expected by year-end. Facilities for powder and ammunition production are under construction, with a final plant planned for air defense systems.

When Ukraine agreed to give up its nuclear arsenal, the USA agreed to keep it supplied with a detailed list of conventional weapons to ensure security in the region. In 2016 Donald Trump stopped deliveries for six months, before resuming just a trickle. He therefore gave Putin a green light to invade Ukraine. That was where the deceit started, and it has been continued by Biden's administration.

Ukraine learned a hard lesson well known in the West, that all of NATO understands that they will be expected to support the USA in its various ventures but that alliance is a one way street and nothing should be expected from the USA in return, whatever has been agreed. "Realpolitik" Chloe: Ukraine should not have trusted either Trump or Biden.

If Trump wins in November he will almost certainly install himself in Putin's rectum, declare himself savior of the World and, demand the Nobel Peace Prize.

2014 was way before Trump. Obama and Biden greenlighted Putin. As for the trickle and Trump, another Democrat myth.

I agree on the Realpolitik tho. Ukraine should never have trusted any of them. And they should have taken delivery of a few hundred Abrams and Bradleys and whole heap of F16's before ever giving up their nukes. Poland seems to have learned anyhow.

I disagree on November, I think Trump will figure out a way to come out of this smelling of roses and dealing with Putin, but we're sure to see. What I will say is, if Ukraine is forced into a ceasefire on the current front, it will only be temporary until they finish reequipping and rearming and then it'll be Croatia vs Serbia 1995 all over again.

Whatever we might agree or disagree on Chloe, the main problem is not Ukraine. It is China. Neither Trump nor Biden seem to be able to see that any further backsliding on Ukraine will be anticipated by the Chinese as a likely weak response with respect to Taiwan. There is very limited downside in giving Putin a significantly tougher time than he is getting. The best solution for the US in Ukraine is no solution, just a long festering war which will cultivate hatred between Ukraine and Russia indefinitely. China and India's bottom line is cheap oil and neither minds a a weak Russia in Central Asia.

I do not have the slightest confidence in Trump he has always been the captive of his own ego and his naive belief in simple solutions to complex problems is absurd. The current war is ideal, slowly strangling Russia and a prolonged conflict with no US casualties is the best method.
