From Computer to RL (Personal)

Exactly...

You know when I first came to Lit, I had yet to move into a real time relationship. I had met my current Dom, had met a few others before him, and had play some online.

There is absolutely nothing like the real thing. I mean you cannot imagine the difference it makes in your life when you get out from behind that computer screen and into reality.

For those of you who are wanting to make the move, place an ad on alt.com or bondage.com.

Be concise about what you are looking for, or ask cym to share one of hers (the one I saw was the best personal ad I have ever seen). Get someone to read it and make suggestions for you.

Be willing to meet someone new even if it is just for coffee. Remember, coffee is not a commitment.

Follow the rules for safety but be willing to put yourself out there. Also be willing to wait for the right person to come along.

These are just a few of the things that I did when I was looking to make the move to real time.

I hope this is helpful for those of you wanting to make that move.

Okay.

Some of you have noticed me getting a little bit cranky of late, and some of it's just typical 30-year-old-guy, midlife crisis crap, some of it's a little deeper.

The Spectre is a little dissatisfied with his lonely state, and needs some folks he can be "out" to in Real Life as well as the friends I've made here on lit. This thread is gonna be a kind of journal of what I'm doing about it, so if anyone else feels kind of stuck in their lives, they've got something to read and relate to.

Tonight, I emailed the webmaster of the Syracuse Dungeon Society, to find out if they're still active, since their web links are dead. (Thanks, cymbidia, for finding the addy for me) If they are, and still holding munches, I plan on introducing myself at the next one, assuming I'm invited.

(Good God, Did I refer to myself in the third person? I'm watching way too much wrestling on TV.)

Okay...i WARNED you!

i had hoped to make more progress on this over the weekend, but i ran into some programming difficulties.

This concerns my "Secret Plan" for my area. i want to set up an innocuous website with links to a lot of other websites.

In the "Information" category you'd find links to Yahoo, Metacrawler, Google and online reference links like Encyclopedia.com and Webster's Dictionary.

There'll be a section for "Paranormal" subject with Art Bell, Whitley Strieber, Parascope, etc.

The section i think that would draw a crowd is a local "Lost and Found" bulletin board. If just ONE person gets their dog back through the site, the "word of mouth" would be terrific.

There'd also be a "Misc" section which would include an "Adults Only" section. Hidden among the links would be a link to the "Quad Cities BDSM Munch".

That would cover the surrounding 30 mile radius. Anyone clicking on the link would be able to send an Email to "Mister E" (that's me) with their Email address, to receive information.

i could send out a discreet message to whoever bites that there IS no such thing, but that "we" are trying to find interested people.

If i can get in touch with just 1 person around here, it would all be worth it.

SO! i'm looking for commentary on my idea and the site. (as it stands so far) Check it out when you have a few minutes, it's growing every day.

So far nothing works quite...but you can get the idea of what it'll be like. Some of the links lead to other sites i've designed for other people right now, but not for long.

i'm STILL working on getting a good, free bulletin board program.

Blue, personally I don't think you posted spam, as you aren't trying to lure people to a competing site, you're getting input on a personal site which you're planning to use to start a local munch. To my way of thinking, that's a little different. Can I get a ruling from the judges?

Sorry I've been slow to respond. I'm in deadline hell right now, and to top it off, I've been ill. Excuses aside, I *did* go check things out, and I think you're on the right track, though there's clearly still a good deal of site construction ahead.

One caveat: watch the pop-ups. Right now, all roads lead to BlueWolff Studios, which might chase people away if they get frustrated by finding themselves caught in a loop. Be sure to beta test carefully, okay?

I am jumping into this discussion without knowing a thing about Syracuse..so will go at it simply from the D/s angle. If you have any sex shops in your area or near by they are full of information on who what and where events take place.
If you are attending your first munch or party of any kind you will put less pressure on yourself if you do not compare yourself to anyone else and you understand that it IS your individuality that makes you stand out.
I can only speak from the Dominants point of view but after attending many events in the USA, Canada and Europe I have found one common thread. We Dominants see the heart and the soul of a submissive.

For me though, the nearest sex shop is 65 miles away, and i already have BDSM friends from Duluth to the Metro area, but that's a 220 mile commute to go to a munch.

Sorry about the misunderstanding, (although i laughed a lot) the Blue Wolf Studios site is not a pop-up (although Tripod adds quite a few)

Blue Wolf is the studio of a dear friend of mine. i did a site for his recording studio, and our "psychic friend" Babette Soliel. those addresses are still in the page templates i designed.

Yeah i've still got lots to do on the pages, but so far i've kept busy making the backgrounds, the artwork, the buttons and planning the final architecture.

i just wanted enough to show that i could make a site, and to get reactions to whether it might work in a group of small communities, where BDSM is considered something that happens "far away".

Except in the houses of lifestylers who, like me have only online and LD lifestyle friends.

Thanks for the commentaries, keep'em coming. i'll point out major updates when i want help "checking the buttons" etc.

Actually, I had given the sex shops here in town a thought, but here's where having friends comes in handy, especially friends here on Lit: I got the brief run-down on all of them, what they're known for, and half a thousand reasons to avoid them. Syracuse is a pretty stodgy town, relatively speaking. You've got to be known or you're wasting your time seems to be the gist of it here.

I haven't given up yet, probably never will, but maybe my time isn't just yet.....

I was just passing though and reading this thread. It is probably old news now, but you mentioned your weight and health. Unless you have an actual issue to deal with, weight doesn't always have to be bad. But, I do understand what you mean. If you feel your weight is a health problem, you should think about some sort of plan to take it off.

No, I don't have the answer to that. If I did, I would be RICH. But, you mentioned you were going to go to a dungeon? Depending on your kink position, if you are on the receiving end, you could have your Dom/me work it off of you. Or, if you are on the giving end, you could run your sub around the room, while speeding he/r along with a whip. The best way to do something difficult is to make it fun.

Oh, and it may be a belated message, but go out and live the life you choose. It is difficult at first, as anything is. But, after that initial hump, it gets to be lots of fun.

Now if I could just get me sized down a bit. Not a major issue, but more stamina and lower heart rate and blood pressure would be nice.
