I'll never give up my dicebag. The miniatures? I have hundreds and hundreds more, and they take up a lot of space, and are only really useful for the game from which they arose. Dice? Dice are eternal.

I'm a big fan of giving dice to nerd padawans, but I would just not be able to give up my dice bag. I still have both my first dice bag and my first set of dice. Somewhere. Not totally sure where, but I've seen them this year. My second dice bag, which I used for far longer than the first, is actually sitting on my desk right now. I had to blow some dust off of it, but it's there.

Dice are important. Damned near sacred, really. I've had the identifier "gamer" for longer than anything else other than my name. I'll be starting my fourth decade as a gamer here shortly. Dear god, I feel old. And geeky. Weird combo.

Selling off my RT-era Imperial Guard army is a mix of absolute irritation at the cheap bastards on ebay, and a surprising amount of nostalgia and second thoughts. While I've not played 40k seriously in over a decade, it's very weird to be selling off my IG.

I hear ya.

When I sold my AD&D stuff, I was quite happy because I was worried people these days wouldn't even know what to do with it...

Now when I liquidate a collection, I go for a reseller though who takes everything as bundle. I hate to sell a piece for a dumping price - so I accept that I won't get a hardcore fan price for another piece.

Man, I envy you. We had all of our gaming equipment stored up in the attic when we first moved here. Last summer, we went to go get it down for the first time in years, and we can't find any of it... none of the books, dice, nothing. We had pretty sick marble dice as well.

Amen. lol... I'm not sure *why* they are, but they just are.

Not really. You've got a good number of years on me, but I've been hearing "old foagie gamer" for the past 10 years now or so. *I* feel old. You, sir, have earned the title of "ancient" in my book. ^_~

Oh, that sucks!

Dice are the true Great Old Ones. They are all-powerful, amoral, entirely fickle, and can wipe your character's life off the face of the planet.

I've got a friend whose a veteran, but not with my time in service, and he insists on calling me "venerable".

I looked into that and wanted to do it. The problem was that most of the resellers either wanted WAY too much of a percentage or they were local shops that were paying in store credit, not cash. I don't want store credit. I want money.

Did you do well on the AD&D stuff? I've got more than a few books I could get rid of. I somehow doubt that I'll ever touch 2nd ed again.

I think yes, but I'm not an expert for prices ;-)

The complete class handbooks or "Monster Mythology", "Arms & Equipment Guide" etc. went for a fair price, they were in mint condition though. Anyway, I felt it was a reasonable sum I got for them.

I remember that I was very disappointed with what I got for the whole boxes, like the Menzoberranzan box.

But this is now 6 years ago...

*has an epiphany, jaw drops, eyes gloss over* my next d100, I am going to name Yog-Sothoth.

hahahaha! What title will we get when we've been gaming for like 60 or 70 years, I wonder? I can see it now ...sitting in some retirement home, everyone's playing shuffleboard or backgammon, we're asking 'round if anyone's up for a Dark Sun campaign or something. lol

They came out with a Menzoberranzan campaign? I thought that was just a PC game.

I already know how it will be, I just need to play multiplayer FPS games.

<kills some poor sucker in CoD>
Sucker:"You <censored>!...You will <face terrible thing> at the age of 30!"
Me:"Uhm.....I'm already older than that. Sorry."

Variation:
Sucker:"n00b!"
Me:"No, old. And this will get you, too! Muahahaha!"

I actually had one that I did just that with. That die was known to roll an awful lot of 20's. I've had to mount more than one rescue attempt as my players would kidnap it occasionally.

Antique, probably.

Yeah, I'm wondering if the stuff I'd sell would be a little too old for good money, but not old enough for collector cash. Bah.

My RT-era 40k stuff brought nowhere near what I'd hoped it would.

Sorry, I'm hijacking that line from you. ^_^

Rofl! I can't say I've ever had someone try to kidnap my dice before... though I remember one DM getting pissed at mine something seriously. My char died, to so I had to make a new one there on the spot... first attempt was all 18's, and he playfully accused me of cheating. Second attempt was almost all 18's and a 16. He called BS, and told me to do it again. Third attempt were all 17's and 18's. He got so pissed he had me roll with his dice, and rolled nothing but 4's. *Then* he was happy. ...Needless to say, that was the last time I played with him.

I've never managed an all 18's character. I did one that was 18's a 16, and a 6. Put the 6 in wisdom. Fun character :)

gamer

gamer here, cod MWF2 and black ops, halo all of em, fable all of em, WOW and LOL are my main games, oh and shamans are where its at

So has anyone played Cataclysm yet? Is it awesome?

We bought it the night before and had it go live on the 7th. My husband had a week off and we played quite a bit. I have my priest main at 85 and just starting heroics, and my 'loc is 82. I really liked Vas'jir for my main, but I'm leveling my 'loc in Hyjal.

It is pretty awesome. We also started goblins, which was a cool starting area. We plan to start some worgen, just for fun, at some point after everyone's mains have their professions up and are raiding.

cata

cata is the shit to be blunt. it goes back to challenging games not everything is just a cake walk like it was in wrath. Yeah its fun to sit back and just destroy everything every once in awhile, but be honest part of gaming is the challenge, if you dont die or loose in a game every once in awhile where is the Intrigue? Thas just my thoughts, but yes cata is great, best expansion so far for every type of wow player.

I Love Cata, it's so much more challenging, with how you have to CC now, it's not tank and spank like WoTLK. I have an 85 Prot tank on Dragonmaw:D

While cata is cool, I've almost entirely lost interest in WoW.

It's weird. I've watched a bunch of my MMOG friends get laid off or lose their jobs and just throw themselves into the game like crazy. I got laid off a coupla months ago and just lost interest.

I'll be honest, I can't see how ya'll can stand WoW for so long... don't get me wrong, I got a level 70-something druid myself, but the only reason it got that high was because I spent that whole time looking for a story, and couldn't find one. By the time I was finishing BC stuff, I felt like I earned the title "Grandmaster Errand Girl and Provider of Mats for Stormwind", instead of something more akin to "Ultimate Hero and Savior of Azeroth". ...At least the DK's had a little story to fuel my interest in WotLK.

I'm waiting for Guild Wars 2. I know that's gonna be awesome when it comes out.

The new stuff has a solid narrative. And by that I mean the goblin and worgen starting areas. Their story lines are solid.

I switch back and forth. Right now I'm on an EQ2 roll. Then I'll get tired of that and reactivate WoW or try another game...

The Seasons of the Gamer.

Just got my Wrath 80 to 85 last night! Then made my friends all jealous when my guild started taking me on heroics I wasn't geared for, lol. But sounds like their pretty desperate to get another DPS for our raid nights to finally round out the groups. I am seriously looking forward to getting back into a raiding schedule.
