i left WoW for Rift, and am very happy with my decision.

levelling VERY slowly though because work is trying to kill me and I usually get less than an hours playtime when I get home at night.

My husband's totally addicted to Rift, he loves it. Every other game has been forgotten. It looks absolutely gorgeous, but I haven't heard much about trade skills. I'm not ready to commit.

I'm splitting my time between my Warcraft revival and Everquest 2. Got my EQ2 guild hall and finally did go and make a goblin to see the starter zone. Hilarious. I loved, loved, loved, the "ridiculously good looking" goblins having a gasoline fight.

I just started Dragon Age II, but it seems to be lacking...humanity and sense of humor. Oh well.

Hmm ...
My name is Kojote and I start feeling terribly old reading this thread for I'm addicted to games like Jagged Alliance 2, Baldurs Gate and old fashioned pen & paper RPG (albeit with an added sexual twist).
The newest games I like are Spellforce 2 or Heroes of Might and Magic 5. And I didn't even like Diablo 2 much (after the nth cycle it got old finally).

Is there any corner around for a doter like me to stand in and dream of times when 'turn based' didn't translate to 'uncool' and graphics were secondary to story?

Heroes of Might & Magic 2 and 3 are my third favourite and most favourite games ever. Baldur's gate is second.

Arm up with zounds of skeletons and take the dragon portal :D

Oh I liked HOMM 3 pretty much. Never played 2 though.
And BG is the greatest game ever devolped from and for roleplayers.
Plus it has an incredibly active modding community which keeps it alive.

Glad not to be alone with this here ...
:D

There's always room!

Heroes of Might and Magic has always been fun. Good story lines. I got bummed, my last copy was buggy, but maybe I can retry it.

My L dug up this gem... I can't recomment it highly enough. It is a real challenge and if you don't save people in time the zombies eat them. 100 WPM is not enough. And I fucking love the voice acting and how the player character has a keyboard strapped to his waist.

I can't get into SCII league play or Heroes of Newerth league play... my dreams get crushed in SC2 and HoN is full of ungodly rage.

I also came 9th in a recent MTG trial to play in Singapore. The format is really healthy but nothing beats friendly edh on friday nights.

Atom Zombie Smasher is my Game Of The Year. Funny, how you can get attached to a single blinking pixel, just because it sits at the dead end of a road while other blinking pixels get closer and closer to it and you worry whether your evac heli will make it in time...to rescue a stupid pixel. It proves my point that graphics are just the cream.

(For some strange reason the official trailer has an insane game speed, the game speed is actually quite configurable, so it is imho more a strategy game...this video shows the gameplay better)

Primalex says: Get the official demo and test it!

Opinions

To continue my recovery from my minor (it's minor, really it is) xbox addiction, I'm only allowing myself to get one game right now. If you had to pick between Dead Space 2 and Dragon Age 2, which would you go for and why? Thanks for any advice, but please no spoilers!

dragon age 2 probably has more replay value. but if u prefer first/third? person shooters then dead space 2 is amazing. honestly both are games i will keep in my collection and not sell back likely ever. both are good stories but dead space 2 is probably a better continuation of the same story. while dragon age to is intertwined with the first it is not a continuation. honestly go for which game type u prefer both were very much worth it.

Thanks! I'll continue thinking about it...sometimes I need my shooter games to get my aggressions out. I'm still torn, though, because I had to play Dead Space during the day, with the sunlight streaming in and the sound on low...otherwise it scared the be-jesus out of me.

second one is even worse. my friend turned it on threw my controller across the room in the first ten min. its like combine the scariest parts of dead space 1, fear 2(if you have played it), put them on steroids have them have a baby and the baby is put on steroids at birth and you are about on par with dead space 2. and i will never ever play that game after a night of drinking again in my life

Well, I would not recommend Dragon Age 2.

So, what were your Steam Summer Sales picks?

I went for:
The Curious Expedition
Halcyon 6
Mad Games Tycoon
Kathy Rain
Door Kickers
Metal Gear Solid V
Final Fantasy X
Force of Nature

This should last till Cyberpunk 2077 comes out.

Fun fact:
Most copies sold this year was a game that didn't even offer a discount: Limbo.

I liked Limbo when I played it. It was scary and not scary at the same time. A very pretty game and kind of sad.

:( No game picking for me though.

Skipped the Steam sale for the first time in years. Need to upgrade my laptop. Got a few hurdles to get over (or around or under...) before I can justify that.

Can I post here about RPG PC games or is that forbidden territory?

I'm hoping you can, since I am more of a table top RPG player. Not a lot for me to add to PC gamer discussions, unless we're talking Fallout... But table top RPGs, there I can shine!

Why would that be forbidden?

(The only thing I could imagine as offtopic would be Roll20, as it's not really a game, but a pen&paper RPG computer support software. But even for this I would grant shelter here.)

Cool :3 I was mostly making a joke about how people always say PC gamers aren't real gamers ;)

I think Console/PC gamers are missing out on a lot, not trying table top RPGs, but, I've been in situations where I had no group and no options for finding one. And I do love computer games. I think the whole "you're not a gamer" thing -which hoes both ways- is a sad state of affairs.
