Gianna's Visions

OOOOooo...giant cypress trees! :)

It's funny how they know things...you really think that turkey knew the season was done or did it just sense in you "no danger here"?
smile it may be the later, many animals do not fear me....grin...usually it is I fearing them. I grew up fishing, never did any hunting but it is hard for me to kill even a fish these days makes me feel like an ogre...I avoid squishing bugs if I can....let the ant have its way....as long it is not climbing on me. Birds come close to me, I had a blue-headed vireo sing a song two feet from me and he was looking right at me....grin...that was one of the incedents that made me a birdwatcher.

:)

We hold much in common...I'm the same way even with the ants most times. A long long time ago, a little sparrow flew on the front porch bannister of my parents' home (while I was growing up). It actually let me move slowly to it and TOUCH it before it flew quickly off...that was very strange indeed. I don't know why but I had this feeling it was "on a dare" from it's buddies or something...LOL.

Now my own pet birds will bite my til I cry if I have to handle them and take them from the cage by hand. Yeeeeow...lol. But that little wild bird let me touch it...

Do you like to wake up and go outside when it's warm enough for "bird hour"...that hour as the sun rises...and the birds "rule" the world? I so love that time!

Me too, I love seeing the yard come to life.....I had a rucous in the backyard one day and found a flock of blue jays harrassing a Coopers Hawk, the Coopers Hawk had a jay in its talons. I startled it, for it released the jay which quickly flew off.....it must have been a young hawk. An adult would not have released the Jay and would have flown off with it. The Jay got a reprieve that day.
Early morning during migration is very nice, you never know what you will find.

I am not familiar with Cooper's Hawks...but Blue Jays here can be such the meany bullies! I'm sure it's true for them anywhere...lol. So during migration (you mean fall?) a lot of species fly through where you are? I'm not that sure here...I'm in Pittsburgh and we're far enough north that I don't think a lot of different ones fly through...I could be wrong though!

Seems like a lot might stop even before Florida! But I don't know where a lot of their destinations are either...

Florida is in one of the eastern flyways of the United States some stop here others move on further south as far as South America....usually they island hop. Fall is the big one, but we can sometimes get a lot of birds in spring as well. There are so many birds that they can be picked up on radar coming in out of Cuba.

Tagetes lionei, converted the photo and then painted and freehanded somethings.....Even using the computer it takes hours of work...one version got thrown out...bad choice of colors. The computer programs are limited and much has to be done by hand.

Wow....gorgeous!

In my Tree Magic thread a couple of us have been talking about trees/plants that survive under the most inhospitable circumstances.

I've always been amazed by the Pitch Pines that require burning to survive...not only do they survive....they require the burning!!! That's what makes 'em thrive...ain't life magnificent sometimes...the adaptability of organisms.

Laughing...I think the Giant Redwood seed is not viable until it is exposed to extreme heat like a fire. Hi Poppy, that plant is growing in at the front door of my mothers house....I caught it at the height of it's spring growth....lush...later the green color will darken and not be so vivid.

You have lots of superb talent, Gianna. Both your painting and photography show how well detailed your eyes are. I enjoyed spending time on your thread. Thanks for sharing your great work.

Beautiful work in this thread....this one creates such a peaceful mood for me.

Catalina :catroar:
Thank you Catalina, *smile* I almost did not post this photo but something about it drew me. I am still not certain what makes it attractive to me...maybe the play of early morning light on the stalks.

A long needle Pine tree. This greets me on my morning walks....the morning sun is lovely on it.

Really digging the flower pics, amazing closeups!
I like your 'organic' (non-photo) pieces as well, nice touch in different mediums.

I can't decide if I like this one best, or the December bride.

Okay, so now I know why I have resisted looling fully at this thread. I love the orchids, but white ones in particular. I also loved the greens of Fla. I terrible at praising art, etc., so have no real idea of what to say save that I like what I said. BTW, I never noticed the Indian River looking so nice.

You are talented, sweetie. Thank you.

m :rose:
Thank you m, as always you make me smile:kiss: *hug* you do not have to be good at praising art. I am delighted you are enjoying it though.
That one is a natural orchid, a species just has nature created it... isn't it marvelous?

I had the gift of unexpected time on my hands tonight, and chose to spend it here. Thanks Gia for some beautiful things to look at.

My faves are the modified St Johns riverplain and the "coloured" photo of flowers a few posts back (it's got a lot of yellow and blue in it)

I feel like soon, my creativity will be back. I have been getting excited about the gardens I am putting in at my gel's house-and sketching out how it will look. At the risk of sounding REALLY geeky, I am even going to do a scale drawing and use pencil crayons

Anyways, thanks again Gia

I love those flowers....you picked a good one...lol..I put a lot of time into that project.

Alamanda unknown hybrid I think....not sure what the straight species looks like
