Holiday Traditions

Me and Master don't have any between us, but we are in France at the moment with his parents and their tradition is the German one, to have Christmas on the 24th rather than the 25th :)

Sweet! Are there any traditional foods associated? When I was in Spain for Christmas, they ate cold seafood and I was horrified..

Tree looking christmasy and I'm sipping glögg (very sweet and spicy mulled wine type drink) and waiting for duck a l'orange to be ready.

That word always appeals to me. It seems onomatopoeic.

*Sigh* I'm in the process of making the traditional holiday murder plans. Does that count?

You must have a really big family if this is tradition :p

Not really, thank God. I don't know what I'd do if there were more of them to deal with. Usually, I just make the plans and don't follow through.

...Usually.

Merry Christmas to all my fellow Christmas Eve celebrators! :)

The rice porridge breakfast was good and now I'm tackling the riddle/treasure hunt J made me to get my Christmas present. I suppose this has become a tradition, too.

ETA: Oh no, I was doing so well until now. Now I'm stuck with hexadecimal math. Again! I got stuck with hexadecimals last year or the year before too. I really have to learn this stuff.

ETA again: I did it! I solved it all and found my presents. A new Global G2 and Human Resource Machine. I don't know which one I love more! :)

That looks fun, I loved world of goo!!
Your tradition is awesome, I love it  :)

We used to pester my Mom and Dad to open a present on Christmas eve. They would make a show of finally giving in after we suffered for a good while. For various reasons we are not doing presents this year and I have spent all day remembering the past Holidays.

I am doing a turkey tomorrow but I think I will brine it instead of stuffing it for a change. ..I'll still have cranberry jelly though yum!
Wishing everyone a wonderful day tomorrow and hope it is filled with love and laughter and big food bellies!

That is lovely!
Remembering Christmases (Christmasi? :D) past, all of the aspects of what makes it a holiday for you personally, is what tradition is all about :)

Merry Christmas everyone!! :)

PS - Ditto on the big food bellies wish :D

It's the time of year when everyone and everything in my home must hold on for dear life. Sorting through stuff and carting the overflow off to goodwill.
Trying to look back at the good and bad of last year and trying to plan ahead for the year to come.

Wanna come here and do the same? :)

You should perhaps consult with my family first, so you know what you are getting into.
Daughter's friend came over yeasterday and exclaimed "Oh no, this was what I tried to escape at home!". :D

This is a good idea. I operated under the rule of "If I bring something home, I must get rid of something" for a long time, but my place could stand a good useless crap rousting!

My tradition for New Year's Eve day (and night :)) is to make nothing but appetizers the entire day. Spicy spinach artichoke dip, sausage stuffed mushrooms, mini quiches, cheese dip, guacamole, pigs in blankets, meatballs, cheese crackers, whatever my friends concoct and bring, and champagne, champagne, champagne. I love this day! :D

Happy New Year's Eve, everyone!
Enjoy, and be safe  :) :cattail:

Happy New Year!

I might need to make an appearance in the DDP thread. (^_-)

Soba is our tradition and I've invited my best friend so I'll make extra for her. I've already started drinking and found an End of The Year party channel on Pandora. Look out!

Good point, Meeks.
Don't forget the Designated Drunk Posting thread!! :D

Sorry your weather is soggy, Elle :(
Wassailing sounds like fun!!
Wassail! Drink hale! :)

Wassailing is fun. We do it naked ( we wear boots...its usually cold this time of year and cold feet outside can be miserable). Then we say a wassailing rhyme and lollop around the trees offering them the cider, then run in and get warm. It just doesn't seem so fun tonight.. :).

I love that tradition!!
And now I want a lollipop tree :p
