Just ran across this again. How'd that strategy work?Hereâs How GOP Leadership Can Keep Bannon Out of Jail⌠If They Want To.
House Republican leadership can use a little-known congressional mechanism to render the contempt of Congress charges against former Trump advisors Stephen K. Bannon and Peter Navarro moot. Speaker Mike Jonnson (R-LA) can use the Bipartisan Legal Advisory Group (BLAG) to file an amicus brief with the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit declaring that the Democrat-run January 6 Committee was improperly constituted and thus had no subpoena authority.
This argument was first advanced by Bannonâs lawyer, David Schoen, and expanded on by Florida Congressman Matt Gaetz in an appearance on Tim Pool this week.
âI believe the only way Steve Bannon does not go to jail is if there is a vote at an entity called the BLAGâthe Bipartisan Legal Advisory Group,â Gaetz said, adding: âIt is made up of the Speaker of the House, the Majority Leader, the Majority Whip, the Minority Leader, and the Minority Whip. So the Republicans hold a three-two in this.â
âBannon is going to petition for an en banc review of this determination to revoke his bail. When he does, I believe the BLAG shouldâand willâtake a three to two vote for the House to seek to leave to file an amicus brief with the en banc court that the January 6 Committee was illegitimate,â the Flordia Republican added.

The question is, will it happen? There is some merit to the argument.

Even Republicans think Steve Bannon is garbage. I'm sure he's festering in his cell right now.
Merit? What merit? A guilty man belongs in jail. Period. It's the LAW rendered decision. G.L.O.A.T. next to Trump.Hereâs How GOP Leadership Can Keep Bannon Out of Jail⌠If They Want To.

Unless of course the previous congress was wrong. In that case not clearing an innocent man would be stupid and evil.It won't happen, nor should it. Retroactively declaring that previous Congresses didn't have the authority is stupid.
...or unless the committee itself was in blatant violation of House rules. The historical record would demand the misconduct be identified and the summary of findings of the committee shown to be spurious, politically motivated, and as such declared to be null and void.Unless of course the previous congress was wrong.
They werent....or unless the committee itself was in blatant violation of House rules. The historical record would demand the misconduct be identified and the summary of findings of the committee shown to be spurious, politically motivated, and as such declared to be null and void.
Then why does Congressman Bennie Thompson (D-MS) want a pardon from Joe Biden? he knows he did something illegal. They werent.
But it's fun to spend a million dollars to investigate it
What gave you that idea?...or unless the committee itself was in blatant violation of House rules.
Wtf are you talking about? He never asked or said he wanted a pardon. Then why does Congressman Bennie Thompson (D-MS) want a pardon from Joe Biden? he knows he did something illegal.
Wtf are you talking about? He never asked or said he wanted a pardon.
He never asked for it.J6 Committee Chairman Wants Biden Pardon
Congressman Bennie Thompson (D-MS), former chair of the House Democratsâ January 6 Committee, says he will accept a pardon from President Joe Biden if it is offered. Thompson made the admission while speaking with CNNâs Jim Acosta on Thursday.
âCongressman, apparently, the White House is discussing preemptive pardons for people who may be targeted by Trump when he gets back in office. Do you want the president to offer some kind of pardon to you?â pressed Acosta, with Thompson responding: âWell, you know, the president, itâs his prerogative. If he offers it to me or other members of the Committee, I think I would accept it.â

Read it and weep.
Then why does he say this:He never asked for it.
He never said he wanted one.
That is the claim.
That is false and nothing you've posted says otherwise.
He said this:Then why does he say this:
âWell, you know, the president, itâs his prerogative. If he offers it to me or other members of the Committee, I think I would accept it.â
The 1/6 committee never did anything it should not have, you know....or unless the committee itself was in blatant violation of House rules.
