Yes, you can block anonymous feedback. I've done that to the majority of my own stories. It irks some of the respondents, but it keeps the dimwits from posting their vitriol and escaping unidentified. On the other hand, it keeps the positive feedback from getting through, too. Therefore, if you want the anonymous positive feedback, you have to let the negative through, too.

I wrote this a while back, it was about someone who was bitching about fans, I have shortened it so to suit here too, although for other reasons:
Artists either they work with words, a paintbrush, a tablet, a blowtorch, or something all together different, their medium is their own personal taste, opinion, and love. They have a gift, and they choose to use it, the problem is that people who conceder themselves fans, are also the biggest boon and headache to any artist. Just like critics, most enjoy commenting but have no true understanding of the hard work or effort that comes to making what they are criticizing.
My story I published here took two months of time or so to write, edit ,and rewrite, yet it took nearly a year to write because I have well a life, and I wasn't and I'm still not being paid for it, so I took my time on it. Now I won't deny there were one or two misused words in the story, and the grammar nazis here nit picked the story till their hearts content. The fact was that the majority of the public enjoyed the story. For every one negative response I got about 30 positive. For me that's not great but again I've been out of the game for 10+ years so I'll take what I can get... not to mention this is a fetish site so to say the least I think I did pretty well especially since the crowd here is so small compared to my average viewers...I write for me, not everyone else.
That being said, and I have said this before to people too here, but now I'll add a twist to it. Either make the art, write the story, or do whatever you do for yourself, if you are harassed by fans either you can take the criticism, praise or demands or you can't. If you can't get out of the kitchen, if you can, get cooking!
Just my 2 cents and then some.

Ok, look. Javagirl has been on Lit since 2000. She has a total of like six or seven stories posted in seven years, in Erotic Couplings, Lesbian and so on.. As far as I remember she's never posted asking for feedback in "...this forum."
Admittedly, I am probably the meanest person who reviews here. Have I ever read one of her stories or reviewed it? Not that I remember.
It's worth noting that Javagirl is a long time regular in the GB. Is this what happens when a flamer gets flamed? Or is this just someone stiring up shit here in this forum?

I may have made a mistake posting my new story in the New Stories sticky at the top. As soon as I did, the ratings went down. I got one feedback that said my "Preparation-X & Y" reminded him of Preperation-H and turned him off.
Yes, he spelled it that way too.
There seems to be a lot of nasty things going on everywhere in the last few weeks. Wonder what it is? Should I start a thread in How To?

Nail on the head. What is at the center of all of this is what is constructive feedback and what is uninformed opinion and/or nasty putdown. First do no harm.
And most of the trashing that is done here is being done by those wanting to continue to pretend that they know what feedback is constructive when they don't. They care not one jot for those asking for the help.

Maybe, because of the number of stories I've written, because I'm from Boston, because my name bostonfictionwriter is in capital letters, because I'm a straight man, because I'm not a lesbian woman, because I speak my mind and write what I feel...who knows and who cares, I am the most bashed writer on these boards.
I've deleted no less than 2,000 bashing posts from my stories. When I delete them, I promptly receive hateful and hurtful e-mails telling me that I shouldn't have deleted their constructive feedback. What constructive criticism?
"You suck" or "eat shit and die" or "you can't write" or "just go away" is not constructive criticism.
I've been in a dozen writers' workshops. I have a thick skin. I wouldn't write the stuff that I write, if I didn't.
Now, the good thing about this board is that, it's free, many people from all over the world read the stories, and some of the feedback received is kind, stroking, and helpful.
Because of the scoring, voting, and "in crowd" system in place, writers like me will never win a contest, except for the Survivor Contest where it depends on quantity and not votes.
Let me tell you a secret...come a little closer to the monitor so that everyone doesn't here. The only reason why I enter a story in a contest is...not only do I receive some good feedback, along with the bashes, but also because Literotica sweeps my page and removes the duplicate votes, which usually are bashing votes.
The only way around the problem of the bashers writing whatever mean things they want and prohibiting those "in crowd" members who have multiple identities from controling scores and contests is for anyone who wants to comment on to register and sign in first.
Igor close My Story Board at Voyeurweb because of the reasons that exist here, multiple identities. When he closed My Story Board, all the whackos came here. These people actually have conversations with themselves. You don't know who to believe. You align yourself with JaneDoe against JohnDoe only to discover later that they are one and the same person. WTF!
Of course, logging in will not stop all the foolishness, but some will think twice before they vomit their shit at someone's hard work when they are held somewhat accountable by their identity.
I'm sure that I'll be bashed for writing this. What else is new? Take your best shot.

Now, back to you never know who reads these pages...someone sent me a bank check for $5,000. I thought it was a joke, until I took it to the bank and it cleared 3 weeks ago. I have no idea who sent me the money, but there was a note in the envelope that read..."You should have won the Survivor Contest."
I wondered who sent me it. I wondered how they got my address. My publisher told me that he gave my address to someone who was very persausive. I was angry that he did, but now am happy that he did.
I was wrong to use this pages to voice my anger when Daniellekitten launched her attack of me. And I apologize to all the members for my vulgar response. Only, I was angry and I was innocent of all her charges, which she never substantiated nor did she ever apologize.
I was better off to let her write whatever she wanted and allow it to roll off my back. I should have been the bigger person than to stoop to her level. Nonetheless, it is over, finally, thank God. Although, this post may start her up again and as of a few days ago, she's still writing mean and nasty things about me in her blog.
Still, my point is...you never know who reads these pages and instead of going in a tirade of verbal abuse launched at the queen of of "in crowd" I should have taken the high road and continued with the reason why I am here, to write.
I truly believe that it is not those who are young and foolish causing the problems. I believe that it is many of the regulars who have multiple identities and who haunt these boards 24/7 with tens of thousands of posts on these forum pages playing their games of one of their personalities against the other. We all know who they are. They can't hide who they are, even with a different identity. Their voice is still there. Their voice is their fingerprint that gives evidence to their multiple identities. Their writer's voice gives them away. You can no more change your voice than you can change your fingerprint.
I have never bashed another writer. I have never posted a feedback under anonymous. I always sign in, vote, and comment on whatever I read. If more readers did the same, we'd have an unbelievable community where writers can write, read, and grow.

But, then...I have thousands of posts, have been around for four years, and I have one alt, and the only reason I have that one is that it's my pen name, the one I'm published under, and I registered it so no one else could. I can't remember the last time I even used it to post, and I put in the signature of that one, very plainly: "Yes, this is Cloudy."
So, number of posts has nothing to do with how good or bad a person is.

So, number of posts has nothing to do with how good or bad a person is.
That's a good idea, cloudy.
I just now set up an alt under my published pen name so it would remain mine.
I doubt that name will be used on the boards, however.

I thought the whole storyboard was swept when Lit. does a sweep--not just the contest entries. Does anyone know which it ia? I see the sweeping effect in stories other than the contest ones--not nearly as much effect, of course, because it's mostly the contest ones where the multiple voting will be in progress.

I know what it feels like to get negative criticism, especially when you think it's unwarranted. I take it very personally and tend to focus on it and ignore the positive comments. I'm not talking about stories, I only have one up and didn't get any negative comments, but a module for a computer game I made. The damn thing took nearly nine months of full time work, and I was frankly astonished at the complaints. The sometimes very bitter complaints. I couldn't understand because it's free to play and no one puts a gun to people's heads. But some people feel this need to whine and gripe and express their disapproval about every tiny little thing.
I came to the conclusion that for some people it's simply (and I'm positive about this) the need to gripe and complain and pass judgement no matter what. And you just fucking know (as you pointed out with the dick you mentioned) that the biggest critics could never do what you just did in a million years. And they know it. They've probably never done anything creative, or put themselves out there for criticism in their lives.
With the game I made I came to realise that with a lot of the criticism, about let's say the dialog (which was good I might add) is simply jealousy. Someone fancies themselves a writer, realises he'll never ever be as good as that and feels the need to denigrate it. None of the people who criticised it had modules of their own out. They have no fucking clue at all what goes into making one, would be completely incapable of it even if they tried, and would be too gutless to put it up for scrutiny even if they did.
So you just have to realise that there are those people out there and you must not let them win. Even the most complete piece of crap has more worth and merit than the comments of the critic proclaiming it to be so.
