I usually do shortbreads, chocolate chip, and snickerdoodle but I'm going to add these to the mix. From the NYT cooking page (well worth the $40 per year BTW)

Sunday funday
Do you spend Sundays prepping your meals, meal planning, or taking the time to make a more involved meal because it’s a slower day?
I’ll answer my own question :)

I try very hard to use Sundays to plan so I can shop Mondays but my brain isn’t in it lately. I find I do better if I try to plan 3 days - less disappointment if I fall off the rails with schedules.

Once the holidays are over, I would like to spend Sundays prepping some things like a grain salad to pack for lunches, or cut up fruit and veggies to snack on. I just know I won’t do it this week.

Ok, maybe people will answer questions?

No, no, and no 😂 I hate the idea of meal planning, even though I know it makes sense and is more economical. But what if I don’t want to eat what I planned when I planned it? I don’t like being told what to do, even by myself 🤣

I aim to plan almost only for the economic and food waste issue. But much of the time it creates more waste because I don’t end up cooking what I shopped for. Whoops!!

See, meal planning isn't economical for me, because I know after 2 days or so, I'm gonna hate whatever it is I "planned" and I'll just end up wasting 😄

Since it's just me, being flexible actual works out well, because I'll decide what I want to eat on the fly, and if I get decent servings, I'll have enough leftovers for lunch/dinner.

That’s what ends up happening with me. I did it for year and lost a lot of weight but now I cannot even think about eating what I ate then because 🤢

I have to have SOME plan because things have to be in the house but everyone has different preferences and dietary needs. Though, my husband and I now both have to eat better so at least that part is easier. He used to have to bulk up. So now I’m making two meals a night instead of three. Progress!

Yes. Sunday I will make a shopping plan and sometimes cook and meal plan.

I hate food waste so I try not to buy too much.

We own a farm, so there are very few slow days (even in winter), but when I get the chance I will make a big meal or a huge pot of soup.

We also “shop in our freezer” for leftovers or other stuff to eat when meal planning.

I’m pulling together leftovers and ad-hoc meals around the holidays because so many meals will be unplanned.

I just pulled 4 servings of Turkey chili out of the freezer.

Monday question that I hope people answer!

They say breakfast is the most important meal of the day. Do you eat breakfast? If so, what's your go to (or to-go)?

I do not. I workout in the mornings and can't workout with food in my stomach, so I usually end up eating well into the day. I'm starting trying to have yogurt bowls with the high protein yogurt, some nut butter (har har), berries, and some mini chocolate chips. I often find even that is too much. Because I don't eat much meat, I try to load up on protein in my first meal. I sometimes do scrambled eggs and cottage cheese. After the first time I had it, I realized it wasn't bad and that's my go-to now for savory breakfasts. "Not bad" is how I usually like my meals.

I love breakfast. If I had a personal chef, I’d probably have omelettes every day. As it is, I usually have toast with butter first thing and then maybe cereal or avocado toast later in the morning. I get nauseous in the morning if I don’t eat something.

I do intermittent fasting and have done so for seven or eight years. That means I very rarely eat breakfast, usually having a meal around 11 to 12 timeframe.
