Love the pictures Mat!

The Cottage one of the side yard reminds me of a movie Cat and I watched a while back about two girls that went down to the rivers edge and found fairies. Something to do with a camera I think that would catch the fairies on film.

I think there is a story in that yard, girlfriend!

The film was based on this story.....and about how gullible was Sir Arthur Conan Doyle (he of the Sherlock Holmes stories).

See this link.

Fascinating stuff.

Wow, Mat... lovely stuff you've got in this thread. My favorites are the sunset photo and the sage drawing, for what that's worth. :rose:

Thank you, so very glad you liked them.

OK, I've finally got round to resizing and saving some of my better Grand Canyon pics, to post on here. It feels right to have all my pics together in one place. So here goes.....

Wow, those are breathtaking!

Thank you, they were taken on New Year's Eve day, when Min, Becca and I went up there for an overnighter. It was freakin' cold after Phoenix, but more than worth the extra sweater, coat and gloves we needed to wear. We spent a whole morning just driving and stopping all along a one mile stretch of the southern rim. I simply ran out of space on my camera, took around 350 pictures. Foolishly didn't take my lappie to download so I could do more. And I'm still sifting through the best ones.

I'll post a few more shortly, I need to resize and save them.

Looking forward, and I think you've inspired me to do the same with more of my European trip pictures. :rose:

Good for you.
Do you have a gallery thread? Have I missed it??

Mat, I showed my 15 yr old your pictures of the Grand Canyon, he thought they were really cool.
I didnt realize that he new so little about the Canyon, not that Im an expert but he thought the 'little' crevis in the center of the vast Canyon was what they call the Grand Canyon. I then explained no that the whole darn thing is the Canyon and that its miles or Kms from one side to the other.

He asked to see all of them so I brought them all up and he loves the one with the crooked old tree. He even asked if I would save it for him for his screen saver!
So for an old woman, you still have what it takes to impress youngins!

I mean that in the most indearing way you know! ( You are the hottest above average aged lady I know!)

Hugs and kisses- cause I know Id get slapped if I did anymore!

Change of tack........some of my favourite scenes from a local riverside walk. Only a short distance from the cottage. Taken on a crisp, clear, but very very cold January day.

Just as a note, I've had to save 4 of these as GIFs to get the files small enough without losing the picture. I don't usually use GIFs, so not sure how they'll come out.

Mat,
Beautiful work!
I love how the building is framed with the tree limbs in the first and second pictures.
It's cool how when you took the picture of the beard grass that against the hydro lines it cross hatches. Neat effect!

Cant wait to see more!

This one is a pastel sketch of a section of cliffs that took my fancy while out walking one day. I just loved the planes and angles, and the way the sea lapped at the rocks at the bottom. Its not complete, but I was very happy with it as it is.

I LOVE this one! The color, the composition, the mood - something about it appeals to me very much. Good work!

Time for a photograph...........choices, choices.........

My brother and his niece were visiting UK from Texas (a once a year visit for the niece to keep in touch with her 'other' family. Precocious little brat!), and I had been taking them out for a drive around the local countryside, the first time she had visited me in my neck of the woods. It was almost dark, we were on the top of a hill overlooking the coast, and this picture just popped into my camera. I love it.

WOW!!!

Stunning work!

And the Grand Canyon pics? Whoa!! Thanx! It was a pleasure looking through them.
