Meet Mia Love. You'll be seeing a lot more of her.

Dude.

Don't wait for his bullshit.

He fucking insulted someone you respect.

Fucking slam him for doing this and let him come back at you if he's got the balls.

Zoomi, I don't actually think he understood what he was saying was an insult. Seriously, I don't.

You know, I just realized this is one of the reasons most Republicans don't seem to have a clue about black people.

You just letting that shit pass, huh?

He's too fucking old to not know.

You know.

Come the fuck on. He's reading this and he ain't got shit to say. Why the fuck do you think that is?

Bunk. You threw her up here as an example of something and if you can't come at him for that basic bullshit he said, it's all bunk.

I think a lot of Republicans are just tone deaf when it comes to things like this. I really do. They shouldn't be, but they fucking are.

You're not going to call out shit. I meant it exactly as the dictionary means it. It has nothing to do with Zumi's "list of words that white people can't use." There is no racial connotation except in the paranoid minds of the real racists like him.

There are many inarticulate white people, not because they are white, but because they aren't educated enough to get their ideas across in convincing ways. Mia Love is a fine woman. She sold her ideas to the majority of people in her state, like I knew she would. I've admired her from day one when I heard her speak while visiting friends in Utah a couple of years ago. Zumi is a true racist who likes to ascribe his character flaws to others. If I was afflicted with his problem I couldn't have supported her. She deserved her victory, which she won with her mind and spirit, not her skin. So fuck all of you PC types who want to ascribe your own racism to me.

Let me get this straight. Are you saying you knew the connotation of what you were saying, but said it anyway?

Okay.

You waffling on this for some reason, but I'm not. This is one of several differences between us. I'm going to now do what you should've done from jump street:

Vette, why did you use "articulate" as an accolade for Mia Love? Since you're fucking posting in this thread and I KNOW you're fucking reading this. Explain your bullshit or you're a fucking shitstain and the conservative support for her as a politician and not a token black person in the sea of white faces who never get "articulate" as a compliment is duly noted as BUNK.

Oh fuck you.

You NEVER use the word "articulate" when describing a white politician.

IT'S NEVER FUCKING USED. EXCEPT FOR WHEN A MINORITY CANDIDATE IS UP ON STAGE. BECAUSE YOU GIVE THEM A BLUE RIBBON DOG BISCUIT FOR MAKING IT THIS FAR.

Fuck you for your patronizing bullshit. You know what you fucking said, you eternal schmuck.

Okay, I guess I'm not going to get a response, so I'll assume one of two things. One, vette didn't realize the connotation, which makes him abysmally ignorant, or two, he did know and deliberately stepped on sensibilities for no fucking reason, which makes him a gigantic asshole. Take your fucking pick.

Haitian American? So, according to the RWCJ, she's sub-human?

I would have thought the dark skin was enough to earn that tag.

Vettman: "Articulate"
Toubab: And I do consider her to be black, despite her relaxed hair.

Boy, it didn't take long for the dog whistles to come out, did it?

The wingnuts are feeling their oats today.

There is nothing liberals hate more than a conservative black female.

Liberals Trash First Black Republican Woman Mia Love As Traitor To Her Race

Face it, you know this was coming…

I noticed he used that word, and winced a little, but I figured he didn't understand the connotation involved.

There IS no connotation. Articulate is articulate, look it up. No racial connotation at all. Well, except maybe in the true racists 'urban dictionary.'

It exists, Ish. You can argue that Vette did not mean it as such, but words like "articulate" and "well-spoken" have been used in an often unintentionally racist way for years. I've heard it time and again used to describe minorities. And even when meant as a compliment, the connotation is, "this minority is unusual because he speaks so well."

I understand that, and I really don't care. Nor do I intend to allow myself to be held responsible for the flights of fancy that the lunatic fringe and the street hustlers concoct. The English language has already lost far too many perfectly good and useful words to the street urchins that thought it was clever to use those words as 'code words' for some other aspect of life. Queer and Gay are two such words that have fallen prey to the street slang artists.

So I feel no discomfort at all in taking back the language, even if it discomforts others. There is no sense or logic in allowing the lowest common denominators of society to dictate what words the educated can or cannot use.

The fact of the matter is that Mrs. Love IS articulate. She exhibits a broad vocabulary and knows how to use it. And does so unapologetically. Perhaps those that take umbrage with the word believe that vette was signaling that she doesn't have a noticeable south side Philly accent. But there are example after example of black Americans that DO have a noticeable south side Philly (or equivalent) accent and yet are still eminently articulate. How should we refer to them? "They speak gooder"? Gooder than what? Quite frankly I think that any word or phrase that a white person might use to complement a black person on their command of the language would be interpreted by the gutter snipes as some sort of 'code.' Fuck'em.

I'll bet I can sum up the past five pages...

That's just based on Lit's long and lavish plantation history.
