Yeah well I didn't mean it that way in any shape or form, and I'm tired of liberals and other PC racists developing lists of innocuous words like "articulate," historically complimentary anywhere else, that all of a sudden white people cannot use to describe black folks.
If I said that Jimmy Carter was less articulate than Bill Clinton, nobody would put a racial connotation on it. It's because racists like Zumi and other PC types have already decided that black folks are not articulate, that they can even begin to reason that such a description has to have a racial connotation.

I understand that, and I really don't care. Nor do I intend to allow myself to be held responsible for the flights of fancy that the lunatic fringe and the street hustlers concoct. The English language has already lost far too many perfectly good and useful words to the street urchins that thought it was clever to use those words as 'code words' for some other aspect of life. Queer and Gay are two such words that have fallen prey to the street slang artists.
So I feel no discomfort at all in taking back the language, even if it discomforts others. There is no sense or logic in allowing the lowest common denominators of society to dictate what words the educated can or cannot use.
The fact of the matter is that Mrs. Love IS articulate. She exhibits a broad vocabulary and knows how to use it. And does so unapologetically. Perhaps those that take umbrage with the word believe that vette was signaling that she doesn't have a noticeable south side Philly accent. But there are example after example of black Americans that DO have a noticeable south side Philly (or equivalent) accent and yet are still eminently articulate. How should we refer to them? "They speak gooder"? Gooder than what? Quite frankly I think that any word or phrase that a white person might use to complement a black person on their command of the language would be interpreted by the gutter snipes as some sort of 'code.' Fuck'em.

I'm getting tired of those two presumptuous pricks, trying to play the race card on the word "articulate." Fucking stupid.
Harry Reid, in the early days of the Obama administration said that Obama is clean cut and speaks good english....or something to that effect.
Ted Cruz is articulate, Charlie Rangel in not.
"Fuck 'em" is the problem. That's why we can never have these sort of conversations. Someone takes offense, justified or not, and the shit starts being flung. And no one bothers to clarify anything.
Reminds me why I stopped posting in these threads.
To be fair, she is more articulate than 99% of your racist cronies you give hall passes to.
Typical
Clyburn: Tim Scott Winning Senate Seat Doesn’t Count As “Progress” For Blacks Because He’s A Republican…
Shorter James Clyburn: Tim Scott wandered off the Dem plantation.
Via Mediaite:
On Tuesday evening, interim Republican Sen. Tim Scott won South Carolina’s special election to fill the remaining two years of retired Sen. Jim DeMint‘s term. Despite that electoral victory making Scott the first black senator elected by South Carolina, fellow South Carolinian James Clyburn is not impressed.
Speaking with the Washington Post, Clyburn, who is a black Democratic congressman, said:
“If you call progress electing a person with the pigmentation that he has, who votes against the interest and aspirations of 95 percent of the black people in South Carolina, then I guess that’s progress.”[/QUOTE]
I doubt that Clyburn has a clue of what the interests and aspirations of the Blacks are.i
Their coded language is going to have a fallout effect now.

Ish is just impressed that Mia Love can get through a speech without calling someone a "dicklick."
Well, how many voted for him? That should be easy enough to check.
It exists, Ish. You can argue that Vette did not mean it as such, but words like "articulate" and "well-spoken" have been used in an often unintentionally racist way for years. I've heard it time and again used to describe minorities. And even when meant as a compliment, the connotation is, "this minority is unusual because he speaks so well."
Democrat and Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid said:"He is a light skinned" African-American "with no Negro dialect, unless he wanted to have one"
Zumi argued with me for two weeks that some racial stereotypes, though clearly with a racial component are intended to be positive. Wrong-headed that they may be.
He gave zero fucks about RacistDownSouth's "racist trope" about how he has a black friend that made a joke about how blacks cannot swim.
I wonder if the 'Congressional Black Caucus' is going to let her in?

Is it just me who thinks her name sounds like a Thai Bond girl?
She's a litster. Mia Love Profile
I just noticed something else from the OP:
She is a black woman under 40.
That’s all that matters.
I thought conservatives HATED this sort of thing?
Seems to me the GOP is constantly fielding new rockstars, that they pour all their hopes and dreams into, until they get exposed to the elements that is national scrutiny and starts to corrode.
Mixed metaphors FTW.
You win the *Tin Foil Hat of the Day* award.
From the amount of wingnut jizz being spilled, I can see where you might have gotten that idea.
On topic, it is impressive to me. I don't buy the arguments that she only won by x amount of votes, or it being an "off year". Winning is winning, and she's earned it.
But there is a lot more work to do if the Republicans really want to attract minorities to their cause. Just the fact that this thread was made and commented on shows just how far the GOP has to go. The goal is not just to elect minorities, but to be a party that minorities want to vote for. Without the latter you may never win the Presidency again.
Personally, I hope they do start to attract more minorities to their cause. There is a lot to like about conservatism, but the GOP has to get out of it's own way first.
There is nothing liberals hate more than a conservative black female.
When did I argue about that? Oh wait...if this is about your Jamaal shit, yeah, you got your cards pulled on that rightly so. And it wasn't just me canceling your credit, either.
I know what Rob's about, though. You, on the other hand, love to hear yourself talk. Even when you're fucking wrong.
Crocodile tear that.
Toubab: And I do consider her to be black, despite her relaxed hair.
