We'll have to agree to disagree on this issue. Someone tries to harm my child, they had best be ready for a right royal a$$ kicking. Someone comes after my slave, same message. I will readily use force in the defense of another, and will do so, if necessary, in the defense of my own life and safety.

I'm sorry, but the idea that law enforcement is there to protect us, _as_ _individuals_, doesn't wash. In fact, the court system has said so in several trials where law enforcement agencies were sued because some poor crime victim felt the police had a duty and obligation to "protect" them, and failed to do so. Universally those cases have been shot down. The police are here to deter crime and solve crimes and arrest those who perpetrate criminal acts. But they have no duty to protect any particular individual or home. THAT is the duty, obligation and right of the individual.
