I'm a crappy guitar player too. Just remember to keep the hope alive, (it's easy if you play when nobody else is around). I switched over from playing in an orchestra to the guitar a few years ago, and the best advice I can give is to go electric, set your dials to treble for bell like tone, and play what you love. The rest tends to fall into your lap alog the way.

I finally found it...

i accidentally ran across this thread for newbies and then lost it and couldn't for the life of me find it again! Well, now that I did find it again, I'll tell you a little about myself. I'm middle aged from the Midwest but definitely not a vanilla type of guy.
