nh's big book of Dr. visits.

Like I told Dave I realize I'm lucky. I wasn't wearing my seat belt. And even though I had major damage to the front end my airbag didn't deploy. Which seeing how I'm only a little over five foot tall is a good thing. I'm always terrified that damn thing is going to take my head off.

WEAR YOUR GODDAMNED SEAT BELT.

Every fucking day I see wrecked cars and talk to people that have survived wrecks, and I've seen the bloody fucking mess in the inside of a car when someone not wearing a seat belt got bounced around like an egg in a box. What happens when you bounce around an egg in a box? The inside of the fucking egg gets outside the fucking egg.

WEAR YOUR GODDAMNED SEAT BELT!

The back end of my car was what hit the fence. It was a lifetime electric fence for livestock. And let me tell you if anyone needs a fence those are the ones to get. The wire didn't break, it went completely went through the back of my car and into the trunk. If that makes sense. Think of a wire going through cheese. We had to pull the wire out of my car.

Seen this many times. The worst is when someone hits a guy wire on a telephone pole or the like. It will sheer off anything it gets near, including you.

I have progressive, I've had them for the last ten years. I've heard they aren't a good insurance company, but I've never had any trouble. Full coverage of course. However I still owe a good bit on my car so I hope I don't get screwed.

I've had Progressive for years too. I've always gotten great service. Better by a damned site than others, including, of all things, USAA. Progressive has always treated me well, and been johnny on the spot for the few claims I've had.

The only advice I give people is to not use the concierge service. It's not an inherently bad idea, but I want to know what shop my car is being taken to. Specifically, I want to choose what shop my car is being taken to. With concierge, you just drop it off and they handle the details. Not my thing.

Yes I know..I'll start wearing it.

I just got a call from progressive. They totaled it. The guy is supposed to be on his way so I can sign the paperwork. I wrecked at 7am they totaled it by 1pm. That's good service..LOL. I'm just hoping I"m not going to have a huge gap between what they give me for it and what I owe.

OH! I'll post it in my thread too. Saw in another part of the forum that Satin is in labor. Sending her happy thoughts and well wishes!:D

I took the kids out for school haircuts today. While I was gone the clinic called and said my official biopsy results are in. The clinic is now closed.:( So I have to wait until tomorrow to find out.

They don't have your cell phone number?

Which is bullshit. Is the place genuinely staffed by imbeciles?

Yes

In other news. The progressive guy stopped by. The are going to give me $3,156 for my car. Minus my $500 deductible thats...$2,656. I owe $4,902 on my car. Master said he would give me the difference to pay it off.

So tomorrow we'll start car shopping. I have to get a new one ASAP because I'm paying $200 a week for the rental right now.

Fingers crossed and the good vibe cannon is firing regularly.

I upgraded to an autoloader so it'd keep going while I went to make dinner.

That's why I use antennae. All I have to do is throw the switch and let it run. Welllll, check the aim once in a while after a storm. ;)

...but cannons are big and explodey and LOUD.

Hence cool.

Really glad to hear you're ok nh :rose: And I echo what Homburg said - wear your seat belt! Every time you get in the car make it a habit to buckle up. I feel naked now when I don't put my seatbelt on :)

On another subject :( I'm really not sure I want to have that colonoscopy now. Sir is in hospital, He had a major bleed from His bowel yesterday afternoon. He lost over 2 litres of blood. He was pale, sweaty, tachycardic and looked really ill. He is in HDU and I'm waiting to hear how He is, the bleeding appears to have stopped and He was ok when I left at 10.30 last night.

My father had a biopsy when he was diagnosed. He got home and he also had a major bleed from where they took the sample.

So I am well and truly put off the idea right now  :(

Speaking as someone who, though in good health, has more experience with doctors and major medical issues than most people do in a lifetime - FIRE THAT DOCTOR AND BAN THAT NURSE.

You have a right. And I know from experience that bad bedside manner often translates into poor medical decisions as well, to say nothing of needless misery at a time that is already scary. There are some great doctors and nurses with poor manners, who you just accept, but this is not one of those cases - those doctors tend to pick specialties where their lousy manner doesn't matter as much.

You need this doctor to be your primary champion against the cancer, and in finding other specialists when needed. Someone with this kind of poor communication skills can't do it.

Just consider about anal screening. Is it appropriate? Who knows - she said there's increased risk but gives you a brush-off about standard practice. You need a doctor who isn't going to be squeamish talking about what you put in your ass in order to get clear advice on this. Either "Yes, you should get screened, it might mean you have increased susceptibility" or "no, cancer is freak stuff and it would be unlikely to be in your ass, too, because that would be like winning the lottery twice (except with cancer instead of cash prizes)."

FIRE THIS DOCTOR and don't look back. You wouldn't believe how often people save their own lives by doing this.

Oh, that's horrible. We've had that happen too.

Just so you know, they tend to treat results as routine messages, even though most patients and their families (especially at first) feel like it's urgent information that you should get as soon as possible. If that's how you feel about it, then you HAVE to push them.

But in the end a lot of people don't hear the results until they talk to the doctor about them. And that's not a terrible idea either. We all tend to think of these results as a big giant YES YES YES or !@#(*&^!@#(*&^!!!!! But cancer isn't always that clear cut. The uncertainty is the worst part about cancer - except of course the certainty. So it might be something you prefer to talk about with a (good) doctor.

Good luck with your results. Will be holding thunms and crossing fingers that you get some straight answers on proress from here.

Minx - I am sure you mentioned you're in Oz. If I'm close enough to ya, I'd gladly hold your hand.:rose:

OMFG:mad: I am so pissed off. I just called the clinic to get my results. I am informed that the OB department isn't in on Fridays. So I say well there are a ton of nurses there in other departments can't someone get in my chart and let me know my results? No, of course not. I have to wait until Monday.:mad:

Hahaha. Sometimes it's good to be a nurse. So I called the clinic back and asked which lab they use for testing. They use our local hospital. So I said good I'll just call over there and pick up my results. The lady at the clinic says oh, they won't do that.

Bullshit I'm not a dumbass. I have a right to see my own medical records. So I call the lab at the hospital and ask them, they say no problem just bring a photo ID and we'll print you out a copy. So woo hoo. Getting dressed now and am on my way over. Cross your fingers that after the freaking month I've had it's not stage 4.

Fingers and everything else crossed for you :rose:

Woo hoo! It worked. So my results say I'm still positive for the high risk HPV, which is no shocker. My immune system sucks.

The biopsy came back as cancer in situ in one spot and severe dysplasia in the other. So only one of the lesions is actual cancer at this point. And as of two weeks ago hadn't spread at all. So of all cancers types to have it's the best. The easiest to treat.

I'm still going to push for aggressive therapy, especially since the HPV is still active, however I do have to wait until Monday to start setting that up.

Excellent news. Hooray for you being aggressive about getting your tests results. I think I would go for aggressive therapy also.

Maybe I missed it but have your bruising/hematomas healed from the caning? Did it end up with a normal (for you) healing time or not?
