off topic - What's on your bucket list / What are your hobbies?

I can make them it's more intricate with the framing for the glass needing to be perfect sizing and interlocking. I use similar to a stain glass window plan I lay it out on a flat surface and start tacking it upwards to form a bowl shape. Cut and shape the glass to fit and secure it all in place. I've been told it's the wrong way about it but it works simpler for me.

Very soothing and now I'm very jealous too :D

You should go. You’d get a lot out of it.

Hobbies: solving crossword puzzles, creating crossword puzzles, reading, writing, book research, learning new languages, picking mushrooms, eating pastry.

Bucket list: digging with an excavator, meeting MacGyver, learning a language well enough to pass as a native speaker, participating in the American crossword tournament for shits and giggles, maybe learning how to drive, visiting the spam museum and mascot hall of fame, and some travel related stuff.

Hobbies: Drawing, painting, photography, crafts, reading, shopping, puzzles, video games, watching YouTube when I should be sleeping, watching sports.
Bucket list: Go to Ireland, a Patriots game, have a family one day (is that a bucket list item?), finish illustrating a children's book, take my niece to Disney world.

So I rolled two of my questions in to one thread.

First - what's on your bucket list? Have you done any of your bucket list stuff yet? Will you??

Second - what do you like to do - a "hobby" I guess you'd call it. Stuff - other than sex - that brings you pleasure.

My bucket list is long, but a lot of it is getting to do things I used to do, before I got too busy. SCUBA diving. Canoe trip in Northern Ontario. See the Northern Lights.

I'd like to go to Lake LaBarge in the Yukon in the midnight Sun and read my favourite poem (it takes place there) aloud.

Hobbies? Aside from writing smut, mostly wood working. No, that's not a euphemism. I use my hammer a lot. Wait, I mean I throw some lumber. I actually do create things out of wood. I find using hand tools, like a hand plane or hand saw to be very calming.

This. Nothing like handplaning.

When you square a big piece of stock using nothing but your hands, arms, and a few planes, it’s a great feeling of satisfaction.

Hobbies: Photography and jigsaw puzzles.

Bucket list: Visiting all the continents, finding someone to really love.

Ireland.
Iceland.
The Grand Canyon. Isn’t that sad? I’ve never been.
Beijing.
Prague.
Barcelona.

I will go anywhere. I really will. The issue is money. I’ve been to Europe, and would love to delve deeper. I’ve been tropical. Would always return.

But those are the places I really feel a need to see.

I've been to all of those places except China. You really should go, they are awesome! You can find deals on all of those places & while Iceland is expensive, Czech is very cheap (my Coke cost more than the food I ate for lunch.

It’s a money thing, but it’s also a responsibility thing. I have a lot of people that depend on me to be home, and they can’t travel.

But I’ll get there.

What made you go to Czech?

Second - what do you like to do - a "hobby" I guess you'd call it. Stuff - other than sex - that brings you pleasure.

Hobbies:
- board gaming
- roleplaying
- writing, though it feels like pulling teeth, it's not really *relaxing*
- mathematical programming (need to get back into this)
- being devoted slave to cats
- leatherworking (very amateur, but I can make a decent protective sleeve for my laptop at least...)
- listening to music
- learning German

Bucket list:
- get to Germany and see some of the bands I like live, because they are never ever going to tour within five thousand miles of here :-(
- go back to Iceland and see more of it
- maybe get to Ireland and see some of the places my ancestors came from
- get enough sleep to wake up feeling refreshed

I got to dive the Great Barrier Reef before we fucked it up, that would've been a bucket-list item.

Other than that... I'm a "comfort zone" kind of person. I need a bit of a push to go to new places and do new things, otherwise my default for a holiday is to do the thing I enjoyed last time around, again.

I don’t have hobbies. I had one that I do like doing, but it never amounted to anything.

I have almost always wanted to visit the arctic regions, especially now since they are all exponentially diminishing year on year. By the turn of the 23rd century earth may genuinely have no ice sheets or snowy climates at all.

Antarctica, Finnish and Lapland wilderness, western and northern Alaska, the Canadian wilderness, Hokkaido and the Scottish highlands in winter, Greenland, Svalbard, southern Argentina and some British Antarctic islands. etc

Bouvet Island is on there but would probably be at the very end of the bucket list.

I have not visited a single one and likely never will.

Excellent!

I like cold, bleak places too. I think and reason so much better there. Give me a rocky shoreline and a blustery wind any day.

Not in Hawaii?????

I know, it's shocking. But I think her climate suits me better than Hawaii's, so it's a win for me!

Spam and Hawaii reminded me that my partner's grandpa's favorite pizza toppings are spam and pineapple. Yes, he makes his own.

All those people (as in one person) who want to visit Finland: come on over, I'll bake pullas.

I always told you I would be there. I will. Someday...

Better get to Greenland before Trump buys it.

It wasn't on my travel bucket list but is now: Finland.

Farah - let's start a Finland slush fund and figure it out. Blue, too. Who else said Finland? Let's just make it a Lit tour.

Can you take some glittery pictures and post in the glitter thread? :cattail:

It's the sound, right? Very soothing.
