Digital Dave's Brother!

Nice Camera, Eh?

Turn Off Yer Date And Time Function Though...It Makes For An Annoyance If You Get That Perfect Shot And It's Uncroppable:D

Not totally true about the uncroppable although it is much easier if you don't have to get rid of it.

Yeah, 35mm :) So I'm a bit more careful now about what I shoot. I'm very much enjoying it :)

But I'm off to bed.. leave for a vacation early tomorrow morning. :)

It can get expensive shooting 35mm. But if you read about the great photographers, they carefully set up shots a lot of the time but then often take numerous angles, camera settings, and, if possible, different lighting. Sometimes the great picture comes out of thousands because of one happy accident that creates the memorable focal point even in a carefully planned shot.

But even it the one time shot, you get that happy accident sometimes. :D

Good luck with your photography, you do nice work.

Fuji makes decent cameras, and yeah if you're happy with a point and shoot by all means keep shooting with it :) I was very discontent with my point and shoot digital, but it was a gift and I had no means to upgrade until recently, so I kept using it anyways. I mean, I still use it now, but more for snapshots when out with friends, etc. And I take it along with me when I'm out doing a photoshoot with my film camera, so I can snap a shot quickly just to see how it looks on the digital display :p

At some point you might look into the new hybrids. Digital cameras with the adjustments of the SLR. And if you get the same brand as your SLR the lenses often interchange. There are some really good ones out there and they are coming down in price now.

Many of the point and shoot digitals have adjustments you can make in the virtual f-stop and film speed but they are usually very cumbersome to use and if your camera shuts down you have to reset it.

Thought I would post a few of my pictures of the Kansas City area.

What kind of camera did you use for that Joey? It's a great shot :) I don't think my current equipment can even get the moon to look so big, even with it being a harvest moon.

Thanks for the pointers Maverick :) I won't be looking into getting a new camera for a whiles to come, as I just finally saved enough to buy this one a couple months ago. I'm still adapting from the change from point & shoot to SLR, but I think I'm learning at a decent pace, so I'm content :D

Hey thanks Tol... :)

It was just my Sony, with a zoom.
I couldn't believe that i actually managed to get the shot, minus the aura...

If i remember right. The fomula for shooting the moon if 1/ISO at f11. That meens that shutter speed should be 1/400 with 400 ISO film. Did I remember that wrong?

I dunno, I've never stumbled upon a formula for shooting the moon, nor have I tested it very thoroughly

The rule of thumb for shooting the full moon is to use a full sun aperture setting for the f-stop and focal length of the lens you are using. This is because the reflected light of the sun on the full moon is very close to the amount of light reflected from normal objects on a sunny day. :D

This site has a fairly complete discussion of the subject for less than full moon shots.

WOW!! Beautiful...well composed, and lovely mood.

Thanks I have been given my Dad's digital camera a Canon PowerShot S40 recently and I am getting to know it. Though I can't find the instruction manual.

Thanks, glad you liked 'em.

Impressive gift :) It's definitely a good camera, wish I could get my hands on a digital SLR. I have a film SLR and a digital point & shoot.
