And there are many who would prefer to not have the images automatically appear so they can scroll in public and not have to hide their screen. I don’t visit the image threads for this very reason.Nothing. But it's more fun to scroll through a thread with pictures instead of following weird links.
Well, not looking at porn resources in public places is a normal practice for everyone. Even the titles of the threads can be such as to make a person who looking over my shoulder blushAnd there are many who would prefer to not have the images automatically appear so they can scroll in public and not have to hide their screen. And the pics being referenced in the post you quoted were underage images. Images that get reported are often horrible and I get to see them all to take action. Yay.
At what cost to the site?Nothing. But it's more fun to scroll through a thread with pictures instead of following weird links.
Yeah I don't mind the rules of the site and the laws of the country it obeys. I'm just stating a fact.At what cost to the site?
I agree, but I'm a moderately responsible adult, and try to not be selfish all the time.
As a general rule, unless I've interacted with someone here on Lit enough to know they don't post the things I'd end up wishing I could unsee. Little Sister had a knack for posting some of that which taught me a valuable lesson. And there are many who would prefer to not have the images automatically appear so they can scroll in public and not have to hide their screen. I am with you on this one. I wouldn’t click a link anyone posted unless I knew the poster. As a general rule, unless I've interacted with someone here on Lit enough to know they don't post the things I'd end up wishing I could unsee. You would have loved her, maybe one of these days she'll return.I am with you on this one. I wouldn’t click a link anyone posted unless I knew the poster.
I didn’t know Little Sister, but she sounds fun, lol.
Is this real? There’s laws against adults sharing naked pics with each other on the US?This is related to nudity, not copyright.
Copied and pasted from the rules above:
- Legally, we can allow soft nudity, but under current United States law, photographs (does not apply to non-photographic images) posted on this site may not contain “sexually explicit conduct”, which the government defines as…
These are the site rules as they have been written for many years. That is all.Is this real? There’s laws against adults sharing naked pics with each other on the US?
It’s surprising to me because I don’t follow politics really, I always thought this was a pretty simple first amendment type issue. These are the site rules as they have been written for many years. That is all.
Incidentally, there are states in the US taking pretty aggressive action against folks accessing porn in their entire state. So, not sure why this would be surprising.
For the nth time: there are no First Amendment rights on a message boardIt’s surprising to me because I don’t follow politics really, I always thought this was a pretty simple first amendment type issue.

The other person (me) was directly quoting the rules of the site. If you want to take that up with someone, take it to Laurel and/or Manu. I don’t make the rules and I don’t care to research the law. The rules are as written.Okay but the other person I was replying to was making it was a matter of US law that there can’t be people posting videos of themselves beating off on this message board

Exactly the same rules there, but:Is it really illegal in the US? I’ve never heard such a thing in my life. People post porn on places like Twitter all the time.
Non-photographic meaning artwork and anime type video? Not that I can draw for squat; even my stick figures look like they're toxic waste mutants. This is related to nudity, not copyright.

Yep, correct. (And same on the drawing skills or lack thereof).Non-photographic meaning artwork and anime type video? Not that I can draw for squat; even my stick figures look like they're toxic waste mutants.
And linking to images/video on other sites...that's covered because it's not hosted on Lit or my computers, correct?
You sound like a Re-pube-ican.Don't discriminate against the grey areas (or gray areas)
Pubic hair* and lips are on full display!
*Yes, beard hair is "pubic hair", as it begins to grow with the onset of puberty.
EWWWWWW!!!You sound like a Re-pube-ican.
hee heeEWWWWWW!!!
I'm far too LIP-eral for that.
I don’t have any insight into that. It’s done either by the system or the site owners; moderators aren’t involved and don’t have the ability to make changes like that.Is the revocation of image posting privileges permanent, or is it restored after a reasonable period?
