Just strolling in to say anyone can recommend a poem in the new poems thread anytime. The daily reviewers are there primarily to ensure that *someone* reads and makes some recs each day.

And I commend anyone who does this. It's a fair amount of work--some days it took me hours to go through all the new poems and try to say something meaningful about the ones I liked. Once I had ninety--it was a rough day, lol.

And Eve has been doing these reviews since before I came to this forum, shortly after the Civil War ended. I think she deserves the purple poetry heart. Or something...
Civil War? How old do you think I am? Wait. Which country?

. . .
No you can't! I did and was repeatedly attacked for recommending "only" my favorites of the day!
Consequently I no longer will post in the review thread,.

And today I have been attacked for posting my thoughts in the public comments forum.

Too many people on this board think that their opinions are the only ones of any honest import! . . . Or, perhaps this forum IS becoming too much of a coterie.

. . . I think I will leave it at that

Attacked??
LOL
If you are referring to me my friend, you were by no means attacked.
If you were attacked you'd know.

:)

and what Ange was saying, I believe, was that people besides the reviewers can recommend a poem.
So if the reviewer, say, only mentions 3 poems, anyone else can jump in and say
" I recommend...."
You're kinda thin skinned for someone who has such strong opinions.
Relax

Sure you can.

We've all been "attacked" for our opinions but so what? I say what I like, so can you. People can read what I recommend or not. If they don't like my ideas that's their perogative. I'll just go write another poem. ;)

The forum has always been accused of being a clique. I dunno, maybe it is--but it's an got open membership policy, lol.

And one thing we ain't nevah been here is lockstep.

Yep. That's what I meant. The "besides" part, that is.

Ange, why did we let a monkey on the board? It's getting into the bananas and stuff again. :nana:

I can see his little furry body now. He's cowering and begging. He's wearing jungle print boxers that don't fit quite right, but he assures us that the boxers mean nothing. In no way whatsoever are they a hint that he wasn't to be taken care of by sexy bitch poetesses.

Why does some one want to apologize to me??
that's sweet but I don't need apologies
shit happens
:D

oh and if I had anything to apologize for...I wouldn't be at all surprised
:p

but truthfully,
being a pseudo Buddhist we don't believe in " right and wrong' only different levels of understanding and consciousness
so , if you want to tell me that you are sorry we aren't of the same understanding I'll agree.
Otherwise, that's the way of the world and it doesn't " offend" me...it may piss me off from time to time but that's MY problem...not anyone else's...

Now show me your bra

The orgy isn't in your honor, monkey. You must have missed the post on it. lol And I bet you missed my reply to ange's post:

Tuesday Review

Im good to go for Tuesday.... got some advice from someone yesterday (they know who they are) and am ready to give it a try.

Also, I might be new and all, but can I give you a little advice about all this bickering? Takuan Soho, in The Clear Sound of Jewels gives some insight into the apparent right mindedness of defending yourself from insults and slurs.

"(Defending oneself because one feels) vexed at being insulted may resemble right mindedness, but it is not that at all. This is forgetting oneself in the anger of the moment. It is not right mindedness in the least. Its proper name is anger and nothing else. Before a person has even been insulted, (they) have already departed from right mindedness. And for this reason, he suffers insult. If one's right mindedness is correct when associating with others, he will not be insulted."

I'm sure you got great advice, and you may have been told this, but I'll tell you anyway. :) Check out any review posted and click on quote. This way you'll see how the vbcode on this board is used.

that is true..unfortunately one of the many paths I stray off of is the 8 fold one
:D

as to the bickering...would it be to much of a pun for me to say
" Pay it No Mind " ?

8-fold? is that like billiards?

And Trent, after I got over my headache, I realized I'm in total agreement with what you said. ;)

Now for some questions.

When will all the new poems for Sunday that will be posted, be up?

I'm assuming there's no easier way to retrieve the poems than to go to "New Poems" and click on each one individually.

Will I have to be doing this after midnight Sunday, early Monday morning?

Is there an easy way to tell if it's somebody's first poem?

Does anyone attempt retrieving all the poems and then working on the "review" offline?

If I miss making the comment "you've been reviewed" am I inadvertentlly breaking the law?

I don't intend to be the "high critic" or anything like that. I've read enough reviews, I think, to be able to follow the vein. I've never been offended by Reltne's remarks. I've never been offended by Tathagata's remarks, although I've been seen to be rubbing my forehead after reading them, sometimes.

I'm good to go for Sunday, but if anyone has anything helpful to say, now's the time.

Much appreciated,

/foehn
