Purple Paint Poem Challenge

*chuckling pretty loud... I just LOVE the subtlety here!

Hiya Synny! Hey Everyone! Just buzzin thru- workin on my Purple Passion....

Globe Thistle

Again I find myself enticed
drawn to your opening bloom
As if time passing would suffice
In purging pain and making room.

High price to pay for beauty held
When the blossom's full and likely picked
The life within them both will meld
But blossoms fade when love constricts

Slender spines stand silent guard
To watch for wanton needing.
I'll come again too soon I'm sure
My heart is oblivious to my bleeding.

Thanks for the comments from Tungtied2U and Fawnie. First poem in about a month. Going to have to reorganize my priorities...:D

Just a little reminder....(as I had forgotten myself)

Please submit poems on Thursday July 7th so they appear on Friday.

okay that is still forever away....

Liar, I will review these (don't want to take away your fun) tell me to back off and I certainly will :) I am pretty good at taking orders. Well, that is not entirely true

I have completely lost track of who is joining in the fun.

Question: is it okay just to have anarchy and who ever wants to post, do it and if not, don't?

answer: yes Seattle that is fine....

Purple Anarchy

The lawless have checked in and left a fucking mess.
There's grape juice on my lemons, my topaz is amethyst.
Oh cripes! I'm rhyming triplets and spouting violet rudeness.

This is as close as I can come to writing about mixed up blue and red.
Why can't we add some sunshine yellow and make it brown instead?
Ahh, see what you've done? Purple anarchy has raised its ugly head!

I thought I might toss my paintbrush into the bucket and see what emerges.

First Thought. Damn, now I have to find time to write another one.

Second Thought. Hey, that gives Ange a whole six days to get that sestina up and running.....:D

Third Thought. Boots.....Good Choice for nice legs....

I'm confused  ...admittedly, that is not an unusual state.

Thursday is not July 7...it is July 8 ....do we submit the poems on Wed. July 7 OR Thurs. July 8.......:(

A Villenelle for Yeats

Lavendar Trumpet

His swans have gone from Coole, flown years away
from splashing to the lake, measuring poet's time,
his prime, the rhythm of that world. Ireland they say

was beauty terrible, a history where sorrow lay
runined in hearts, bled in the land, bred in his rhyme,
his swans have gone from Coole, flown years away.

Commanding flap, their trumpet fading to the gray,
the purpled mist of dusk or dawn, past tower, chime,
his prime, the rhythm of that world. Ireland they say

wears scars like tarnished jewels that fueled his day
in anguish slouching toward a vision of the crime:
His swans have gone from Coole, flown years away,

loss blown like love and seedlings, nothing but to pray
for daughter and schoolchildren, years that climb,
his prime, the rhythm of that world. Ireland they say

can't heal, but even tattered, aged, he raged in sway
of nation spun into the bone of hills and wild thyme.
His swans have gone from Coole, flown years away,
his prime, the rhythm of that world. Ireland they say.

I just am quiet and I think about how it feels. And I was an Enlish major and taught English and--as you can tell--I am very much in love with William Butler Yeats. Which helps. ;)

so, you're saying I have to write this poem sometime today, huh?

:D

okay I confess, I am numerically disabled
Anna tried to post this last night with no luck. I snuck up here to apologize and clarify:

I'm having trouble rhyming purple. that I actually typed that sentence with a straight face, must mean something.

Right. Gonna start to think purple then. I have one, but I might fart out another...

ps. perks, is that AV of your making? It's one of the coolest I've seen in quite some time.

It is not, sugah. I believe that's "lydia" from a cartoon. I wore her for a little bit, and just brought her back to get me in the purple mood.

One of these days you and I are going to have to do a Villanelle challenge. See who cries uncle first...

What? Like a vilanelle challenge? Like a dance marathon? Are you crazy? No. You're a fool--or so you say. ;)

I think that sounds terribly painful. Can we break it up with sonnets and sestinas?

And I don't think you should be allowed to use the om-puter-cay
ohgram-pray*. You hear me now? Cause I ownt-day.

A.

*pig latin, my second language.

Darling, I only use Excel Spreadsheets to write Sestinas, which I don't write. And sonnets are icky. So there...:p I gotta have a computer to write though, even if I count iambic by fives on my fingers...

Shit what a great poetry line...

sitting
desperately lonely
watching life pass me by
so why
do I sit by myself
counting iambic by fives
on my fingers...
