Well, you guys got the snow, so maybe he still will.
actually... now that i'm thinking about it... eilan's place is more desirable for at least ONE reason...

i have a feeling that the presence of all your redsux collectibles might catalyze a rash and/or allergic reaction. :(

you don't want a chance to stomp on my Red Sox 2004 World Series Champions doormat?

Isn't this roughly what happened to the impure when they touched the Ark of the Covenant? Same principle applies as I see it. ;)

Sox & Yanks on the tube tonight (at least here they are) at 7:05. Papelbon vs Chacon. Like if it really matters. I'll probably watch anyway though.
you must have one big hunkin' television if they can fit the whole damned ball park on it.

Has anyone here done genealogy?

Some recent info that I have obtained has led me to start researching my ancestory....just wondering if anyone else has done that.

My mother-in-law has traced her ancestry back to the Revolutionary War, proving that one of her ancestors fought in the American Revolution. So she's a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution--the DAR, I think. Which means my daughter is eligible for membership.

MrB keeps track of all that stuff for both sides of our family.

I tried a little to find some info on my father's parents. Since they emmigrated from eastern Europe as children and their names were changed, I hit a dead end.

It's fascinating work, but painstaking.

Raises hand.

I did a genealogy 4-H project back in the late 80's. My mom kinda took over the project after fair season, and she's done tons of library/computer research of our family tree. I'll bet that if she wasn't such a wuss about traveling, she'd have even more info--and she has tons as it is.

My mom's something of a genealogy expert in our area. She belongs to the First Families of ****** County and the local Historical Society. I'm not sure about the DAR. I know that we have ancestors who were Revolutionary War veterans, but I don't know if she's filled out the paperwork for that. Just recently, she applied for and received a Civil War medal that had gone unclaimed by an ancestor (or any other family members).

I know that researching one's family tree can be a painstaking process. I'd be happy to pass any genealogy-related n00b questions along to my mom. :)

i've always wanted to learn about my heritage but haven't taken the initiative to look into it. my mother's side of the family is pretty much 100% hungarian but my father's a european mix of mostly german, english, irish. i tend to identify more with my irish side (not sure why... i don't even like parades and never wanted to be a cop) and would like to no something about those ancestors.

Plus, if I knew the language of my heritage....some things might be a lot easier to understand.
could it be swahili?

I'm finding it as addicting as Lit is.

lit's like crack for my pc... so i can only imagine what this geneology thing is like.

I was looking for a particular thread in the HT, and I couldn't find it, so I'll ask here.

How long will an opened bottle of wine keep in the refrigerator and still be drinkable?

1, maybe 2 days if you've got some doohickeys that try to remove the air. if you're passed that, sit it by the furnace and turn it into vinegar, i say. :>

Ooops, shows how much I know. I'm glad I didn't use it in the beef stew recipe I have. This bottle's been in the fridge AT LEAST a month. Truth is I don't remember.

Try taken a slip and see how it tastes..... I've been able to keep some white wine for a while - not sure how I did, but it was ok. :)
